It's too dark and doesn't capture the excitement of Episode I. They are playing it safe with this poster...
It looks like photoshopped crap, I agree. I think what they are trying to do is get the idea that the lightsaber fight at the end of the film and the pod race are the reasons to go see this movies again (in 3D or otherwise) as they were the 'stand out' features of the film (to most anyway).

Jar Jar, Qui Gon, and TPM aged Padme/Anakin aren't necessarily iconic in that film. It is the problem of the film not really having a main character that they could basically throw any combo of characters from TPM on that poster and some would be left asking: "What? Why isn't Watto on there?" That sorta thing.

Yeah, why isn't Watto on there?? Even though he didn't really affect the story I always liked Watto, he made me laugh and was more an actual alien life form, as was Selbuba, rather than just a silly cartoon alien like most of the pod racer pilots. Anakin/Vader isn't featured which is odd but sorta not surprising, it'll be 3D spectacle over story promotion. I wonder if there'll be GL changes in this version.

That looks even worse than those photoshopped abominations they used for the DVD release. And to think that George Lucas once was a fan of Drew Struzan's work.

Lol, that new poster looks terrible. Looks like something that would be put on a bootleg copy of TPM.

I get the feeling that even if they did everything you guys wanted for the poster, you'd still find something to complain about.

Some people will never, ever be satisfied.

I've had the star wars complete saga blu-ray box set for about and month now and I enjoy it. I like the picture , sound mix , extras everything. As far as the video transfers goes I think episode 2, 3,4, 5 and 6 look good on blu-ray and episode 1 is good but because of the DNR it's not as good as it could be. The sound mixes for all 6 films are great on blu-ray and the extras are good as well. Sure their has been some controversy over the changes and tweaks GL has made to the films for the blu-ray release but it's star wars on blu-ray and all the disc's in the 9 disc set is fantastic. Another thing their has been some controversy over the years about the re coloring of the films for the 2004 dvd release and the 2011 blu-ray release of the original trilogy I'm not bothered by it at all some of the issues where fixed for the blu-rays some where not. I won't go into to detail of what those issues are and where because it's been debated about for many years. Star Wars on blu-ray is great changes / tweaks in all.

There are two guys over at Wikipedia who keep deleting the list of changes, for some reason. Hmmm... Their names are Cameron Scott and Mike Wazowski. If you look under the 'view history' tab you'll find that info. They claim it was due to a lack of sources, yet that list has stood for years on Wikipedia, until now. Personally, I think they're doing it intentionally. The sources are the films themselves. I fixed their changes and restored the page. How long it lasts is unknown. It was a pretty decent list. Pretty accurate with the exception of a few I deleted. It covered the audio changes in the pre-special edition days and the audio/visual changes all the way through the 2011 Blu-ray set. It included the prequel changes as well. The article/list needs some work but these guys were doing wholesale deletes of all changes. Those lists took a long time to compile.

On the other hand, Wikipedia can be a big mess. It's definitely not a site that you want to rely on for accurate info. It's a quick starting point when looking something up but it's not always reliable. You should verify elsewhere. It's too easy for people to make changes and post inaccurate information. Look at how easily I just changed it. My intentions were good and honest and I restored a fairly accurate list but there are just as many who would post bad info through dishonesty, stupidity, or ignorance. You could read the list but I'd stick with the screenshot lists that the other guys here have already linked for you.

SO EXCITED FOR EPISODE IN THEATERS!! i actually rememeber seeing episode 1 three times when i was 12 years old, and personally its my favorite of the prequels cuz they used real sets, real locations and better acting mainly from liam neeson, and the best lightsaber battle because of DARTH MAUL! VERY MUCH EXCITED TO SEE THIS!!! cant believe its coming out again in theaters, its almost surreal. i hope it does well enough to see the next 5 in theaters, and i hope there isnt a long wait between them!

also, on a side note, i am LOVING the bluray. its so great seeing leia in that bikini in HD

In answer to my own earlier question, I've just seen that Star Wars is only the 9th best selling blu ray for the week only 3 weeks after its release

In the run up to the release people were saying this would be the biggest seller ever and one or two people who shall remain nameless even said the Indy release was put back to protect sales

Is anyone else surprises by this very lacklustre performance or are the usual faces going to explain this away?

(apologies if this has been discussed, the days of me trawling through this thread are long gone)

4 weeks....

week ending 9/18 #1.
week ending 9/25 #2.
week ending 10/2 #4.
week ending 10/9 #9.

#9 after 4 weeks for an $80 title isnt really surprising.

Look at the title of this thread it is about the blu-ray release of the star wars complete saga not about the 3d release.

Over 1 million units sold The Complete Saga in North America alone = over $80 million in BD revenue .

Many thanks for the correction (sarcastic lol)

This was the type of post I was expecting, from this being the "biggest blu ray release ever" to "well it's not surprising"
