I'm assuming that's because I'm using the two built-in speakers (Yes, audiophiles. I know, know. ) and the only audio option I can find for the movies is 6.1.
So, is there anything I can do either on the discs, player or TV to fix this? It's pretty annoying to have to have the remote in-hand to constantly turn the volume up and down the whole time.
On your tv check under audio options. Under my Sony tv there is the option of 'Clear Voice', which emphasises voices.
I suppose that on your player, there is the option to engage dynamic range control? Try that, it should reduce volume peaks.

Maybe it is time to add a sound system to your TV / Home Theater

It's just a suggestion but you are missing out on so much listening to a Blu-ray disc with just your TV speakers compared to having a sound system added into the mix.

For me personally ~ A good sound track on a good movie makes the movie that much better & enjoyable to watch, Having the sound system added into the mix.

I just thought I would give you a little push in the right direction

This is of course a better tip (especially since it's Star Wars, probably the main reason why I really wanted a new audio system ), the much improved audio certainly adds to the enjoyment of movies and music. Hearing Duel of the Fates, the seismic charges, the opening of A New Hope and the sail barge explosion (what the hell was that, it sounded even louder than the seismic charges ) in DTS-HD, sometimes one can feel as if becoming one with the Force

Just finished watching a little movie called Star Wars-Episode IV: A New Hope for the 2nd time on BD.
This time I was even more impressed.

The PQ is as good as it is ever going to get with this film I believe.
I cannot imagine it looking much better than it does now.

The AQ is unbelievable, the music is a dream, I wish the music in the PT were as loud as in the OT. That's my only gripe concerning the AQ in the PT. I think the music is too quiet, but we have had that discussion before.

My rating for ANH:

PQ: 5 I think it's incredibly true to the source, and I couldn't detect a single compression related artifact.

AQ: 4,5+ perfect except for a few muffled lines of dialogue, and does anyone else think the sound of the Millenium Falcon is a bit distorted?

The lightsabers are NOT part of the PQ assessment, as they are special/visual effects, and therefore do not affect my rating.

Wow, I had a few beers last night after the new years activities and put ROTS in and I think it just became my new favorite Star Wars movie. It was the first time I had watched it with my new surround headphones on and on my new 60 inch TV, and I was blown away by the picture quality and the audio, the soundtrack, everything was just so powerful and emotionally moving. I love this movie and can't wait to watch it again. I'm gonna watch the rest of these movies with this Sony Playstation headset.

I usually have to pour myself a stiff drink or two to enjoy that movie, too.

Default it's gonna happen anny moment now:)

i just feel its gonna happen anny moment now,the holidays and gifts period is over.....this box set is gonna be gold box deal anny day now or will be severely discounted)
why i know this? simple...in order to shift more sets Amazon and anny other shop selling this wont shift more sets unless they lower the price drastically now...and some of us (me!)will be lying in ambush for that,i waited patiently and ill be rewarded i'm sure,i just got The twilight Zone bundle this way at 152,a 69% discount,i'm still shaking all over from it,a monster deal tbh
btw....if you check Top 10 sellers, the one that trashes all ever since release seems to be The Lord of...box,it is a incredible price actually at 49,99...no doubt....so Fox...if you want more revenue...lower that SW box price cause that set isnt even in the top 10 annymore for the last week!

This probably got discussed somewhere but I ain't messing with the million posts so I'll ask again. Does anyone wish the PT and OT looked more similar so they feel more attached to one another or at least so it feels like the OT happened afterwards? This came up because we watched the LOTR set this week and it's so perfect how they all match perfectly, everything looks the same, feels the same, etc, etc. I know that LOTR was shot all at once so that's a huge advantage.

The Star Wars PT is overly glitzy, polished, whatever you want to call it. They just don't look like they happened first. The OT makes it seem as if the universe had devolved, stepped back, lost its technology so to speak.

This is why I do like some of the scenery and background changes that the OT received. It makes them look more modern. OTOH, it's the prequels that should have been made to look like the OT. But, George just loves to cram the scenes with stuff so that wasn't gonna happen. Not a big deal.

Oh yeah, they never mention Coruscant in the OT ever. Not once. That planet seemed to be a major part of the PT so it was odd that it just disappeared in the OT.

Nitpicking done. SW is still the best thing ever.

I believe that was all intentional.

Everything was sleek, shiny, and elegant under the Old Republic, but went downhill with the destruction caused by the Clone Wars and rule by the Empire.

I buy it, except for computer monitors, radar displays etc.. You don't just go from plasma technology to CRT because of an empire and wars. The technology should be near the same, stagnant at worst and old LOOKING/beat up/scratched .. not old tech-wise.

But again for the most part it works for spaceships and the bulk of the aesthetic. It's just props which can falter at times.

Yeah it's odd Lucas didn't change the computer graphics in the OT, when he changes other (larger) things to bring the 2 trilogies together.

Yep.

Specially when Adywan had no problem in doing that.
