Just watch the blu-rays and then move on with your life.

yes, even if you agree or disagree on which of the trilogies is best, it's better watched in theatrical release date. makes a better viewing experience rather than watching in order of chronology

Yes, stick with 4 5 and 6 first. You can watch it in fancier ways later (there is a neat method where you can use the prequels as a type of extended flashback, but really, it's the originals that are essential).

The rock in front of R2 is a stupid edit for sure, but it doesn't fully detract from my enjoyment. But I suppose it does vary from person to person.

As far as order, I agree with 4-5-6 first, then 1-2-3.

Why not? George did!
At the time, he had no intention of ever making 1,2 and 3.

Absolutely watch in release order (4, 5, 6; 1, 2, 3). The two trilogies do spoil each other, but I would say that the plot revelations in the original trilogy are more important than those in the prequel trilogy.

Just get the Complete Star Wars Saga BD set, and you should have a great time.
Some SW fans are the biggest drama queens in the universe, and they would complain no matter what.
It's highly unlikely that you would be bothered by anything, unless it turns out you don't like SW that is.

You can either watch them from 1-6, or 4-6 and 1-3.

Have a great time.

To KaineKinetic you listen! Because there is no Hayden Force ghost. That guy has no business whatsoever in the OT.

You have 351 posts and you have missed the two most active threads on the board?

Personal opinion if you are asking is first off I will send you a PM. Then secondly watch 4,5 and 6. Digest it for a few weeks and go back view them all a second time. Then after taking it all in.....watch 1,2 and 3 because if you watch them in order you lose one of the very things that make episode 5 great.

At the very least, watch ep 4 first. It's the defining classic of the series and the best introduction to the universe.

If you have a sound system, watch the Blu-rays. End of discussion. The soundtrack is incredible on all 6 films. The special editions are mostly just irksome to people who grew uo with the originals. You won't be bothered by anything in there, except maybe the weird contrast of CGI and 70s style filmmaking. Then you can research what was changed for yourself and form your own opinions.

No, just no. If he is watching them all for the first time, he should watch them in chronological order, since that is the way they are meant to be viewed.

I would love to know how someone who has watched the movies for the first time ever in chronological order feels about the prequels. I bet they won't hate them as much as others.

I've always been told since I first saw the movies on VHS in 1989 that he was going to make prequels, so I highly doubt he never had any intention of doing so.

So you'd deprive someone of one of the biggest and most famous twist shockers in cinema history?

No. Just no.

Start with Star Wars and Empire, which actually explain the Force and the Dark Side (something the Prequels forget to do, the Prequels assume you've seen the existing films, which tosses the whole "numerical order" thing right out of the window)...Empire ends on a question, we then flashback Godfather II style to the beginnings of the whole thing with the Prequels, and then come back for the final film which concludes all the story threads.

I go into much more detail about this whole thing in my article link above.
