True. But I saw movies like Fast Five in 2K digital projection and I can't imagine it to looks any better than that.

I don't know. The hole surrounded by a fleshy membrane lined with sharp teeth looked pretty dangerous back in the day. And Threepio's description of the thousand year + digestion process was all that was needed to get across the point that you didn't want to fall down that hole. The beak amounted to little more than a Prequel CG creature experiment. Not necessary in my never-humble opinion.

Good question. One wonders if it'll be varied between places like the decent/very popular movie site like "AintItCoolNews.com", or mainly more technical places like THE DIGITAL BITS & HOME THEATER FORUMS.

Yea, that'll happen like complaints ceasing to exist in this thread about light saber colors, who shot first,

4k is roughly ( there are quite a few different standards at the moment)

4096 × 2304 = 9,437,184 pixels

So 4k is actually almost 5 times the resolution of 2k.
That's quite a big separation. Not that most could truly tell 2K/Blu-ray from 4K with the human eye

I thought Bill Hunt had a nice article from what HE was able to See AND Hear, tho' the HTF article was a bit more detailed on the Audio side of things (with Matthew Wood from ILM).

Are you sure? They look identical to what I saw in the theater in 1997. Obviously they cleaned up the rest of the video which might have helped a tad but they definitely didn't give them a makeover like they did with Jabba. The Sarlaac especially just feels like it was tacked on over the original movie instead of blending in.

I still would like an explanation for the pics on thedigitalbits. The cyan/aqua/whatever color filter is still there, despite claims that the color timing has been 'corrected'. It looks exactly the same. Even the saber shot, Vader's saber isn't red. Or pink. It's both! On the left of the frame, it's pink...on the right, it's red.
Maybe if you would read, there not the actual screen grabs from the dvds nor the blurays. http://www.hometheaterforum.com/t/31...i-matthew-wood

You know what I'm surprised hasn't really been brought up about the 2004 DVD's? When they first came out a bunch of people were upset that some of the ADR lines (particularly in the scene with Leia and Tarkin) sounded drastically different than the ones recorded on set. On the old VHS tapes you couldn't tell but they stuck out quite a bit on the DVD. It's too late now but it might have been worth bringing this up with Matthew Wood. Guess we'll find out in a few weeks.

I would think it has been addressed since Matthew Wood stated they put a lot of effort into restoring the audio for the past several years.

I am absolutely loving all of this excellent news about all A/V problems being fixed and such, ESPECIALLY the lightsabers, but it just gets me thinking...

Are the YouTube videos reliable? Especially in ESB's clip since we see a bit of the duel between Luke and Vader, and we see that Vader's saber isn't quite red yet. Yet they claim that the lightsabers are fixed, so the YouTube videos can be just the pre-BD fixings, and just be the 2004 masters in 1080p. ANH's clip still has all the coloring problems, with the blue glow, the pink flashes during the little battle between the Rebels and the Stormtroopers. Then again, we see the differences with TPM's Podracing clip and what they did to put it on BD, showing that the rest of the episodes can be what we will be seeing on our BDs...

That's about the only thing frustrating me so far Hopefully they're just giving us these videos to have us surprised come Sept 16!

That's perfect to me honestly, if they really are doing that. I would be 100% convinced that they are just 'teasing' us, but if they are, then how are we seeing TPM all brand new, and the rest (namely the OT) are the 'teasers'? Unless it's because TPM is the one that's really getting all the attention, with the new master and everything else, and it would be harder to show us the way it was 'pre-BD'...If that makes sense at all.

I can spot a 4K bluray very easily on a 1080i display! 4K is 2160 x 4096 vs. 1080 x 1920. It is no different than being able to see the difference in a dvd that was mastered in HD vs. having a 525i master. Having a source that is of greater resolution is easily noticeable for the improvements in PQ. The first 8 UE Bond dvd's were remastered in 4K for the improvement noticable on dvd back in 2004. Compare the blurays of Live and Let Die (4K) to The Man with the Golden Gun (1.9K) or Moonraker (4K) to For Your Eyes Only (1.9K) and tell me you can't see an increase in detail.

Yes unless you have an incredibly crappy display.

You're talking about old master vs new master, there will always be difference, it's obvious.

But I'm sure you can't tell the difference between exactly the same material in 2K and 4K.

Also you can't compare different movies, it's all about quality and condition of original negatives, and it's not always the same.

Exactly! Plus I don't think LFL is stupid enough to have select guests from prestigious websites, tell them many things (NAMELY LIGHTSABERS!!!) have been tweaked (especially with the mention of the "hot white core" and I believe something about the color hue was mentioned), show a picture of the saber crossing with the emperor from RotJ all fixed, then release the whole set with unfixed sabers, namely in ESB with Vader's pink saber.

Yes...I think I am convinced now

Not to compare apples and oranges, but with the LOTR:EE, The Two Towers and Return of the King were redone from 2K, which was the highest possible without redoing all the effects (which they would never do). Maybe 4K isn't technically possible, or too expensive.
