Which is the same reason why they used these masters as a starting point. Due to all of the effects work.

Wrong again! That is like saying you can't see the difference in a dvd mastered in 525i or HD. When did dvd take it's big jump in PQ? When they started using HD masters. When did bluray take a big jump in PQ? When studios like WB started using 4K masters back in 2006 increased PQ. Trust me 4K remasters cost money. If you couldn't see the improvement in PQ studios wouldn't use them. Any semi special release or classic film gets the 4K treatment. Star Wars would easily fall into this catagory.

It's standard protocol for any press release or event of this nature. The same information gets released to everyone, some groups aren't going to get perks, etc. Nothing to be nervous about it.

And I think that's what Lowrey implied in an interview in 2004 surrounding the DVD release.

Bizarrely it's Phantom Menace I'm most anticipating watching out of the set. Due to the new transfer and finally digital Yoda.

The OT I've seen in hd on television, so am anticipating largely the same quality - a little better maybe - based on what we've heard the past couple of days.

I'm sure once I'm in the midst of trade disputes i'll soon be desperate to get to the superior trilogy, but right now I'm really looking forward to seeing how good Menace looks - as it's never looked as good in the home as it should.

Episodes II and III were filmed at 1080p using digital cameras, that's the max resolution they can be at as they weren't shot on actual film, so hes obviously fine with the old masters of IV V VI

No, they were not, some of the James Bond remasters from 2004 done at 4K were Top Of The Line back in 2004, but not an 1920x1080p transfer.

If you don't think it's gonna be good, don't buy it. I think it's clear that at very least it's going to be better than the 2004 DVDs, but it is so easy to even make good news seem like bad news, or to ignore the recent news and then go along thinking that they're going to be terrible anyway.

Agreed. Plus, um, GREEDO SHOOTING FIRST. Not only does that totally undermine Han Solo's journey as a character, but it looks like total CRAP. Han "dodging" Greedo's shot is so..... strange looking. It just looks totally off. I pray one of George's "surprises" is Han shooting first again (and Greedo not shooting at all).

I bet you it's changed back to its original, people have always hated that change and rightfully so.

Me to! Honestly if they changed the Greedo shooting first thing, and changed it back to Sebastian Shaw being at the end of Jedi (which I know is pretty much a dream) and that CGI Jedi Rocks in ROTJ . Along with the lightsaber color issues, I would be pretty happy with this release. Of course that is assuming PQ and AQ is good, which I am optimistic about.

However I will still hang on the my theatrical version dvds, as I do enjoy those versions the best. Crappy PQ and all, I am glad those versions are available on dvd, it allowed me to finally get rid of my vcr.

Greedo/Han: It's not likely to happen. But the Ghost Anakin and Jedi Rocks scenes are here to stay.

I'm really glad to be reading that this set is shaping up to be pretty nice. In a bit of anticipation and my desire to have a complete a set as possible, I have been trying to find a way to create a Blu-ray disc that contains all of the bonus discs from the PT and OT releases. Hopefully this is something that I can make happen. Unfortunately the best software that I have found for this is Windows only and I am on a Mac. So I thought I would throw it out here and see if anyone has some information of Mac software that will allow me to put multiple DVD discs onto one Blu-Ray disc.

Well we know the Jabba/Han scene is here to stay. And I think for the best. It's not redundant at all.
