The new one sounds like it was run through some fancy DJ equipment to create a "cool" echo effect. I think if anything the 2004 was at least the most "human" sounding.

The No+Nooo is completely superfluous and had absolutely -no- reason to be added.

Lucas wants to emphasize the "awakening " of Anakin, but him looking to the emperor and then to his son being killed was already serving that purpose.

Also, anyone arguing that Lucas didn't have the "technology" to get Vader to say "No" followed by "Nooooo" back in 1983 -but now it corresponds truly to his vision- deserves to be shot (metaphorically speaking).

As much as I couldn't care less about slight varying shades of hues in lightsabers, THIS is dumbing down a scene that was very powerful and did not need any change.

A question. If George should die, would he be able to stop anyone from releasing the original theatrical runs of the films? I mean, the person who would be in charge after George is gone?
I suppose he could make it his dying wish to destroy all the prints that are in storage.

Hmmm, new release coming up.... What can I change? What can I change.... We have to change something... of COURSE! I originally intended to have Vader go "No... NoOooOooOo!" at the end of Return of The Jedi. Lets get to the studio!

Facepalm. I'm actually laughing out loud because the guy can't keep his hands off these movies. I mean can you seriously imagine Hayden Christensen saying that?
He can do whatever he wants it’s his movie. You don’t like it don’t watch it. Make your own movie however you want. Wow

For all of those saying you're not buying, bet you will
I'm still getting it. But my enthusiasm is ebbing.

They should digitally insert that human beat box guy from Police Academy into the background making sound effects as Vader says No... Then the No might make a little more sense to me...

OMG it's like Lucas has become Colonel Kurtz from Apocalypse Now.

Everyone gets everything he wants. I wanted the Original trilogy on blu-ray and for my sins, they gave me one. Brought it up to me like room service. It was a real choice set, and when it was over, I never wanted another.

I wish there was a way to just buy the bonus discs for the documentaries.

Vader looking down at Luke while he is getting zapped is a great visual artistic moment in the Star Wars Saga. I doubt George would wreck a perfect moment like that
I'm beginning to think that every single sound filmmaking and story telling decision in the OT was NOT made by Lucas, and he most likely argued against them. I'm sure Vader's redemption scene was 100% Lawrence Kasdan and Richard Marquand. Lucas probably had nothing to do with the scene, and probably argued with them about keeping it in the movie.

My son just turned one. When he's old enough to watch these films, I'm gonna let him see the original versions on DVD for his initial introduction to the series and that's it. If he really wants to sit through the prequels, I'll be in the other room.

We really don't need these kinds of posts. This forum is for discussing the Star Wars Saga on Blu-ray. Both the things we do like, and the things we don't like.

In all honesty, I feel sorry for George Lucas. On the outside, he may seem happy with those billions of dollars, but on the inside, he's unhappy because he will never be satisfied with Star Wars. He is his own harshest critic, saying "It's not good enough! I must tweak it some more!" Sad sad.

I think the more outraged people get about the changes the funnier I think it is. I just imagine George Lucas at his ranch sitting in Darth Vader's meditation chamber laughing his ass off.

The guy's been changing these movies for over thirty years, and we're surprised there are more of them? Lets face it, for most of you, no matter what is changed for better or worse, you're not going to be happy.

That's really funny. (I'm being irony-free here; feel like you have to say that in these forums. It made me laugh.)

I'm not defending, nor would I ever defend, the way in which the ROTS "No" was handled. But what's wrong with it isn't Vader expressing remorse for the last time, or even the "no" itself...rather, it's that stupid ****ing Mendoza shot that went with it. Shoot that exact scene almost ANY other way, with the same audio, and it's appropriately tragic and chilling rather than pathetic and comical.

Anyway, I'm done with all this until the discs are in my HT. I'm loving the debates here (again, seriously. Ugly as it gets, this is encouraging, seeing people care so much about film. Warms this professor's heart -- yes, I'm one of those. I won't correct anyone's spelling. )
