Pre-order cancelled, and I left a scathing one star review on Amazon as to why.

Don't get me wrong, I do not like the change at all.

But if the line was originally in there and it just now got cut; I seriously doubt there would be fans saying "Oh wow it works so much better with him in silence".

I think it boils mostly down to these films making a huge imprint on our psyche when we first saw them and many of us just want to relive that moment of wonder when we first saw them, in some manner. With every change it takes us out of the childhood haze when we watch it.

There is a difference between discussing a rip and telling people where and how to download it. Since the rips being discussed are purportedly of the Star Wars Blu-rays, it is relevant to the on-going discussions in this thread.

Also Obi-Wan says 'no, anakin, no' when Anakin runs head on at Count Dooku.

For me, this is a first. I've never vowed to boycott a Star Wars release. But it's my understanding that fans have had a history of threatening this while still ultimately buying.

I implore all of you to keep true to today's rage. Please. This should not be accepted.

I can just imagine it now, 2014 Jackson releases the Ultimate box set of all 5 movies and he goes back to the LOTR movies and changes things so that they match the Hobbit. For example maybe using the new young Bilbo in the scene at the start of FOTR when he finds the ring instead of Ian Holm or maybe "fixing" Gollum so that he looks like he will in The Hobbit.

You heard it here first folks.
Won't happen as the lotr and hobbit movies are not as far away from each other as the star wars movies. races are set, gollum will look the same and the concept artists are also the same as well as all the other people working on the hobbit.

And changing replacing the young bilbo or replacing old cgi gollum with new cgi gollum are not bad changes.

Yeah...doubt it. At least while a certain someone lives.

I've not seen any full 1080p screens yet, or maybe I've been living under a rock...
Probably because some guy with "contacts" in china somewhere where they produce the discs got his hands on a set. I've only got the 720p rips myself.

That wouldn't matter as we have them on Blu-ray already. There would be no need to buy them again unless you wanted the changes. Unless of course they fix the green and remaster the Fellowship theatrical edition....

Fox has just annouced that the Star Wars blu-ray release is being pushed back 2 months due to productions issues. Fox had no comment on the production issue.
Those waiting for the blu-ray release will now have to wait a little longer.

It's because it's a completely unnecessary change that adds nothing to the scene. Vader's silence works perfectly in the moment. It's an internal struggle. He's probably got 25 years and countless horrible acts and decisions flashing in front of him as he finally lets go of his hate and destroys the Emperor. Williams' score, Vader's head movements, and Luke's screams are all that's needed.

Plus as I said earlier in the thread, it makes little sense plotwise for the Emperor to stand there and do nothing as Vader's saying "NO!" You'd think the dude would suspect Vader is about to turn on him after hearing that.

The sad part is that many here decrying the changes will still buy the discs (including me), because we know that in order to watch those movies in glorious high bandwidth 1080p with DTS HD there is just no other solution.

Lucas knows it, and knows that despite our anger we know it.
That's why he can do this, and not think twice about the impact on sales.

I think the funny part is that most likely he only realizes afterwards that his changes are not liked OR he thinks only a small fraction of viewers don't like them.

I've been watching the SE's for so long, I think it'd be weird to watch the OOT - I'm sure I'd notice all the "missing" things.

This change won't bother me to much. If it's true, it just links the 2 trilogies more which makes sense.

I don't think any change would keep from buying SW on blu-ray. I really can't wait (just a few more weeks).

Same here. Partly because I wanted to believe that they really would delay it for adjustments... but, no, GL is too hard headed.
