Be prepared for some laughable long explanation why this is in an improvement for the better.

I also never grew up watching these in the Cinema. But I did have them on VHS before the 97 SE so technicly I grew up with the originals ie non SE films

This is worth quoting. It's by far the biggest and most important release on the format as far as catalog titles go and the entire community (except the one or two people trying to rationalize this crap) can't even back it.

The promotion (including where to get them), of rips "fan edits", or whatever you might call it will not be tolerated.

I guess in the long run, all these changes aren't such a big deal. These are childrens movies after all.

Now that the prequels and tampered originals exist, this completes the full evolution of turning Darth Vader from a bad-ass to a whinny biotch.

Not asking for an argument, just expressing my feelings at this very difficult time.
I agree. Cancelled the complete saga and but my order in for the PT only edition. The deleted scenes will all be on youtube in a week anyway, and that is all that really interested me in the bonus discs anyway, and those are a 'watch once' kind of novelty to me.

However, I hope those who get the set(s) enjoy them, I really do. I just think this final change shows that Lucas knows zero about drama/tension or even how to direct. Should have seen it coming too (i.e. the FUBAR ending of the Altered Empire). What made ESB and ROTJ so good was someone else directed them, Lucas had that imput to 'stop.' Too much of a good thing, is just that, too much.

I don't think anyone's really trying to rationalize it, I think the people who aren't raging just don't really care. No one likes it, that's a given, but it's like three seconds long and it doesn't change anything too major in the story. I mean, we're never going to get a perfect release, sure you can hate this go ahead vote with your dollar. I don't want to sound like an apologist but it's not that big of a deal. Star Wars as a whole has so many flaws through all six, not just the PT, that one more doesn't really kill it for me.

Just want to applaud those who canceled their order, and hope others who still haven't will follow suit.

I think the format will be fine. There are plenty of other releases that I'm far more interested in than this to be honest. In fact, I don't think I cared one bit about the announcement when it was made last fall aside from the cool deleted scene with Luke's lightsaber construction. Mostly because I knew the original versions of the Holy Trilogy would never be included.

Yes.

Because that clearly worked with Greedo.

I'm sure a lot of wifes and girlfriends say "NO!" as well but Lucas hasn't volunteered to throw them down a reactor shaft....

Without much thought I always assumed Star Wars in the title tied these films together, they even put a little episode number in there to help us along so we know which order they go in....
