Some questions:

1)-How is the P/Q on the OT.
2)-Has anyone contacted LFL in regards to all the stuff that they said they fixed cause i doubt they would publicly lie to the whole world about fixing stuff if they did not.
3)-Honestly guys you are going to cancel you're pre-orders cause of a simple word like NOO. I would wait for reviews to come in before you base your decision on the word NOOO.It may turn out to be not that bad at all.
4)-Star Wars is still in the top ten pre-order list even after this NOOO scene was found.

Yes, following your exact example is clearly the definition of someone making an independent decision.

Can you even think of a piece of work, be it a film, a book, a play, an album, anything, that has been revised to this extent over this period of time?

I think this must be the record-holder.

My thoughts:

"No" may sound better in "context".

Or

Perhaps NOT.

The Darth Vader "no" at the end of Revenge of the Sith is still far worse than this new no at the end of Return of the Jedi

One NOO is all it takes to make a good scene campy or silly. I wish Lucas would understand this, and ponder that every time he has one of his brilliant "hey what if we add this...." moments. And at this point it's just a few more nuggets in the SE turd sandwich.

Interesting. Probably not the norm (just a guess). Most kids would prefer the upgrades in tech in PT and the action.

And this is why I can't buy into his crap. If he has all these ideas and stuff he wantes to do from the beginning why hasn't he done it all in one release? Why does he keep doing a few things per release? Truth is he is just doing it all on a whim and doesn't know what he wants. Plus, its easier to sell an old product with a few tweaks evry few years. Its all money money money.

The problem is when you try to make something perfect, you create more flaws. Tighten one string and you loosen another, so on and so forth. Lucas is just like Tarkin; the more he tightens his grip, the more things slip through his fingers. The problem is, he doesn't realize this and will continue to mess with the original films until he dies. Perfection doesn't exist in films. Every filmmaker knows this but Lucas.

I could post a laundry list of things I don't care for in the Star Wars trilogy.

Or things that I don't like in regard to the changes. And so on.

I just don't feel the need to rant and rave over these sorts of things. It's not that big a deal.

In the end, it's Lucas' vision and we're just along for the ride. So I say, "What do you have to show me today?"

That's a tough call.

The No at the end of Sith was certainly sillier and more cartoonish and it completely gutted what could have been a really powerful scene.

This No guts a scene that was already great.

I'm not sure which is worse...preventing greatness or defacing it.

Note that he did admit to indoctrinating them in hate for the SE and PT rather than letting them make up their own minds.

Which to be honest, I find kinda creepy. But it's his right as a parent. But it's kinda like shades of brainwashing.

Has anyone else's Amazon Pre-Order not switched to the 16th yet (assuming some people here haven't already cancelled theirs)? Mine is still dated for the 27th.

I remember watching ROTJ on VHS when I was 8 or 9, first SW movie I watched. A couple years later I watched the SE, and as soon as I heard Jedi Rocks and Victory Celebration instead of Lapti Nek and Yub Nub, I knew something was off.

I hadn't seen the movie for 2 years, but still remembered it (because I loved Yub Nub ). I didn't have internet then, (around 2003), so I couldn't look up all the changes.

Then again, I am one of the younger members of the forum, so I guess I care a little more about film than your typical 17 year old... (?)

An author, filmmaker, artist owes his fans nothing simply because he doesn't choose his fans - The fans choose the thing they love and are drawn to.

I see it as a kind of cleansing-process right now. The large nerd-herd of conservative fans finds out right now that they actually don't get Star Wars and will abandon it. Simultanously a new generation will discover the movies on Blu-Ray and in theatres next year and fill that void. Star Wars is alive and more glorious than ever and it will prevail despite the endless bickering of painfully unimaginative naysayers! OVER AND OUT!
