I think I might just track down the Widescreen versions of the original trilogy on VHS and upscale them to Blu-ray.

What do you think we're gonna get from Lucasfilm in 2-3 years?

Default Vader cries foul in "Return of the Jedi"

Yep, it all seems official, I just don't know what to say

The most significant alteration is a change to RotJ, in which Darth Vader now yells "Nooo! Nooo!" as he lifts up the Emperor, who is electrocuting Luke Skywalker aboard the Death Star II. The response online to this change has been severely negative. Even the Amazon listing for the Star Wars Blu-ray collection has dozens of negative reviews based on this one update alone.
And Vader says...
Nooo!,Noooo!!

Here is my response if actual
[Show spoiler]

[Show spoiler]well maybe not as dramatic!, I love my trek models

The changes in star wars have never botherd me. Some were better, others worse..but I never took part in the OT Vs. SET debate....

Until now! The obi-wan call is sillier, but you can get used to it..but the vader nooooo!, is just awfull... the scence had great momentum..you used to see vader thinking, as he looked on Luke being electrecuted by Palpatine..and then you see him turn to the Emperoro and you know what he was thinking ..."You motherf****r" just before he grabs him..but now in the greatest moment of tension you get a moan..

Well it could be worse..Lucas could be the face we see, when Luke takes of Vaders helmet.. Roll ON next hi-def format!!

Ps. On a seriouse note, I was wondering if this wasn't done just because everybody panned the Noooooooo! at the end of ROTS.

This is a sincere question, no trolling/flaming intended.

To this day, I still do not understand how the bet between Watto and Qui-Gon works.

Can anyone explain it?

It only worked because Qui-Gon used the force. I can tell you he didn't have money. But what I did have was a very particular set of skills; skills he had acquired over a very long career. Skills that made him a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you. LOL, I am confused myself.

Pretty much, Qui-Gon used the force because Watto was very weaked minded. Even though he said in one scene; "You think you're a Jedi waving your hand around like that?"

I truly think Lucas is in "retaliatory mode" these days. He's out to spite his fans for the backlash they've rained down upon him. I saw a behind-the-scenes featurette where he's sitting in his chair and he's wearing a "Greedo Shot First" T-Shirt.

I should also go on record by saying that I was never a Star Wars "uber fan", I love the movies for being an integral part of film culture, and I'm not a purist. The initial Special Edition alterations never bothered me (and I relished being able to see the films for the first time on the big screen), though these later alterations are starting to get tiresome/annoying.

But I'll be damned if that "Greedo Shot First" shirt he was wearing wasn't a big middle-finger to his fans. This newly added "NO!" thing could be just that, another way to spite his fans for the criticism he's received over the past decade.

If Watto wins he gets the ship.

If Qui-gon wins he gets Anikan, and Watto still gets the ship.

Either way Watto wins the ship.Qui-Gon sweetened the pot with the ship. Instead of using the force to get the boy he used Watto's compulsive betting to get the boy.

LOL Well, he never used a direct Jedi mind trick on Watto, they clearly had no effect on him. What he did do was use the force to manipulate the roll of the dice, but that's only after the initial bet, when Qui-Gon decides to up the ante for the boy.

Qui-Gon says that they'll enter the competition using the Nubian Ship as an entry fee...we never see this, and it's never elaborated on.

Then they say that they're going to use the pod that Anakin built in the race, but pass it off as a pod that Qui-Gon won while gambling.

Okay. So far so good.

Then Watto says "Supply the pod + entry fee, I supply the boy, split the winnings 50/50"

Qui-Gon comes back with "If it's 50/50, you front the entry fee cash, if we win you keep all of the winnings minus the cost of the parts we need, if we lose you keep my ship."

Then they wager the pod against the boy.

??

Since 1983 we literally had no idea just what Vader was feeling at that moment. I think it helps the scene immensely. But it ain't enough. To better connect it with the greatest film of all time, Vader should say: "Hmph, more like limited power" after the Emperor is dead.

Yeah! That's big news. I checked out some of the changes linked above, and really like them. Definitely for the better.
Well, also, I actually have a life besides SW, or complaining.

I can't wait to watch these on Blu-ray!!!!

I think the next time someone calls me a SW fan I will punch him in the face, as it's become a huge insult.
SW "fans" seem to be the whiniest bunch in the whole universe.

I, for one, am going to enjoy these tremendously!

This time I am not going to catch up with the thread, as I don't have the time to read 100s of pages of complaining and nonsensical bickering.

What a sad life many of you must lead.

Btw., this is the funniest thing I have read in a long time. I lmao!!

And he DOESN"T ****ING SAY A THING. That's what makes it so powerful. You could almost see the thought process behind the mask, as Vader slowly comes out of the fog of 20+ years of evil. It's a grand, amazing moment and the pinnacle of the trilogy, in my opinion.

^This. Though I would add it's not only the pinnacle of the trilogy, but the entire Saga.

I will NEVER, ****ING NEVER buy this version of the films, with this "NOOOOOO" bullshit...

And I'm not even a huge Star Wars fan... Casual fan at best.

This is a joke... How could you possibly be stupid enough to change the perfectness of that moment???? Unbelievable...

I WILL NEVER BUY a version of these films that contains this change... NEVER.

It's so atrocious it should be posted in every subsection of this website. Funny how of all the movies that are desperately crying out for real 'changes' in this entire saga (EP I, II & III) he keeps messing with the old ones. They added the cgi Yoda for EP 1. Good! It was a vast improvement, but then out comes more tweaks for the OT and people get mad. Rightfully so, as my God.....why the heck keep messing with things?

Monolithium, even as a kid watching Jedi it's obvious what he was thinking. 2 quick looks back-and-forth and it's obvious. Actions always speak louder than words.
