Shame on you Lucus !!!!
are those real quotes? where did they come from? source?
(not doubting you - rather, I'd like to know the source so I can show this to many friends who would get a laugh out of it)

Still not fixed....

Return of the Jedi

01. Imperial Shuttle flickers as it leaves the Star Destroyer.
02. Garbage mattes around Imperial Shuttle and TIE Fighters still visible.
03. Reversed shots of Boba Fett still not fixed.
04. Boba Fett's rockets are still hand-animated and fake.
05. There is still no post on the Sail Barge to support Luke and Leia's rope swing.
06. Red text on Luke's screen in the X-Wing is still mis-aligned with the monitor.
07. When the Emperor arrives at the Death Star, the TIE Fighters are plagued with garbage mattes.
08. Garbage mattes on the Rebel Fleet.
09. Rebel hangar matte painting still looks fake and is mis-matched.
10. Horrible Millennium Falcon matte painting still behind Lando and Han.
11. As Shuttle Tyderium approaches Endor, the Endor matte painting shows through the Shuttle, and the Imperial ships as well.
12. When Han says "I told you it'll work", the Endor matte painting can be seen through the Shuttle's instrument panels.
13. Speeder Bike chase still has it's fake moments, and garbage mattes are more visible in high definition.
14. The horrible matte error that occurs when Luke says "I'll take these two" and hits the brakes is still there.
15. There are still bits of black windows in the throne room where there should be a moving starfield.
16. Ewok village matte problems still not fixed.
17. When Vader's Shuttle lands on Endor and he exits, his helmet still goes through the Shuttle's nose.
18. On the Endor platform when Luke is brought to Vader, the on-set model of the AT-AT, which is way too small, is still seen.
19. Garbage mattes still seen around Death Star and Rebel Fleet approaching Endor. A-Wing engines are no longer golden, but white. Falcon engines still white.
20. When Home One takes evasive action, the Endor matte painting can still be seen through the area around Admiral Ackbar's window and the Death Star.
21. In HD, the TIE's "coming from nowhere" are painfully obvious.
22. Endor space battle still plagued with the usual transparent explosions, mattes, etc.
23. The Rebel troop behind Nien Nunb aboard the Falcon is still shown laughing at the deaths of hundreds.
24. The shadow of Vader's stunt blade is still seen.
25. Garbage mattes really visible in HD inside the Death Star around Rebel craft and TIE's.

Changes noticed:

01. Static shot of droids approaching Jabba's palace door is now a wide pan with a huge door.
02. "Jedi Rocks" is still there and unchanged.
03. The Binary sunset still shows the suns setting.
04. Han's carbonite "thaw" has been replaced with CGI.
05. After Luke "Force chokes" the Gamorrean Guards, a prequel Dug walks across the floor where the residents are sleeping. It looks VERY fake, like it was "last minute."
06. The fake shadows and artificial darkness are still present in the Rancor sequence.
07. The plastic looking herd of Banthas is still there.
08. The 1997 SE fake looking beak, tongue, and tentacles are still present on the Sarlacc.
09. Luke's lightsaber blade is HUGE.
10. The Falcon and Luke's X-Wing look good as they depart Tatooine. No transparency.
11. No blue engine hue from the Falcon.
12. Luke's X-Wing engines are red with a white core.
13. When Obi-Wan appears to Luke on Dagobah in spirit form, his aura is white.
14. Rebel briefing graphics unchanged, but the reds are darker.
15. The Emperor's throne room is now a dull blue color. It is almost white now compared to the 2004 DVD blue.
16. The greenery of Endor's forest looks vibrant and greener than ever, but actually in a good way.
17. Wicket's blinking eyes.
18. The fine hair of the Chewbacca costume can really be seen in HD.
19. The first Wokling's eyes blink.
20. The colors are really off in the throne room.
21. The Emperor's "face slugs" are no longer visible.
22. The shield generator energy arcs can no longer be seen through Ben Burtt, and the stuntman in the next shot can still plainly be seen.
23. When R2-D2 malfunctions from the blaster shot, the sparks look like purple Force lightning instead of blue-white electrical colors.
24. The only time the lightsaber blades look decent is when they are crossed in front of the Emperor's face. The rest of the time, the colors and
brightness fluctuate like the 2004 DVD.
25. The color settings of this file make the Emperor's Force lightning look like it's from a VHS copy. There's no sharpness to it, like a filter is over it.
25. Vader's "NO's" have been added. The first sounds like it has been sloppily laid on top of the mix, the second is from ROTS.
26. Vader's unmasking is STILL Sebastian Shaw. Don't believe the idiots that say it's Hayden Christensen. At least, not on THIS MKV it isn't.
27. 1997 SE and 2004 version revisions, "Weesa free!", and Hayden Christensen still at the end.
They didn't do a thing about Luke's phantom kick on the barge did they?

I agree. What I find interesting is some will watch SW on DVD instead of blu-ray (they must have some great upscaling players).

not my shots, just saw those somewhere:

since it looks rather good, a new versions/hybrids/modifications etc. should be based on the BDs from now on, otherwise some PQ potential will be left out.

If I were in charge, that would have been the first thing I would have fixed ... along side with Boba's rockets. I can't see how anyone in ILM,etc would miss that shot after watching the film God knows how many times.

My biggest concern with this release is not the additions (which I honestly don't mind) but the extremely lack and lazy attempt at even fixing any of the issues.

The best way to watch these blu-rays is to erase your memory of the previous versions!

Furthermore, there were still a lot of goofy scenes in the original trilogy that just don't seem right:

1. Ben Kenobi waving his hands up in his air like a diva to scare away those bad-ass sand people?

2. Bobba Fett fighting and dying like a little biotch.

3. Luke and Leah not being romantically involved in 5 and 6 as was implied in The New Hope.

4. Ewoks (I personally love them).

5. Luke all of a sudden getting up after getting electrocuted (including his reaction shot "hmmm?" when he watches Vader pick up Palpie). I always thought both Vader and Luke would be f-ed up after what they went through. Sort of like how exhausted Piper and David are in their fight scene in They Live.

6. Luke crying, "nooooo, that's impossible" (which is nothing compared to these changes of course. But I used to think that scene was pretty laughable)

7. Old Ben Kenobi not being cool as I thought he was (as in treating all important information on a need-to-know-basis and Luke didn't need to know. What's worse: Kenobi letting Luke and Leah hook up incest style, yes, it's possible that they could have gotten it on in The New Hope or keeping it a secret so that Darth wouldn't find out? The best thing about the prequels is the evolution of Obi Wan Kenobi, and showing what a prick he actually is.)

I am hoping he changed the Ep3 NOOOOO... to something similar to what is in Jedi. I don't mind that new line and sort of connects the Darth Vader emotion from part 3.

Darth never shows a caring emotion until this scene and perhaps now we understand he remembers losing Padme and doesn't want to lose his son. I think a lot of people will finally connect the two.

Good changes! Looking forward to more.
Actually, one (possible) change at that moment would be flashbacks... to Anakins mom, to Padme, to younger Obiwan... but "fans" would freak out at that.... I say keep making changes... but give the OOT fans a break and give them a 1/2 decent version on blu.

Keep us all happy (one big happy SW family).

I like that suggestion kurt! While Luke is getting killed, Anakin starts to recall his mom, Padme, Obi-Wan, maybe Qui-Gon, etc.

Of course, we can all I guess assume that's what he's doing.

What has George changed that hasn't made the movies better? Most of the changes are just minor tweaks that really don't effect anything.

If these movies were released at the exact same time they were(ie: this new version of RotJ released in 1982) then would you all say how stupid it was at the time???

C'mon Maaan!
Here we go.....

Remember the original concept of why we have blu-ray? Look:

"Blu-ray: the closest how the movie looked projected in theaters"

Guess what, the blu-ray is not the closest how the movie looked projected in the theaters because the original projected movies in the 1970 and 1980s were different films than the ones released on blu-ray. Thus, keep your DVDs and laserdiscs.

1. I felt bad for Sebastian Shaw. It was his only scene. I always liked thinking how nice it was for Anakin to be a nice old man. And now it's some young cocky Hayden punk.

2. The old Anakin action figure was pretty amazing to me as a kid. I remember reading the back of a Star Wars action figure (1980s) and reading about the mail-away offer to get the old Anakin figure. As a kid, those mail-away figures had a magical aura about them, even if the figure itself sucked. So I guess the awareness of old Ghost Anakin will be forgotten over time as the new generations will not be aware of old Anakin unless told about him from parents.
I agree with this.

the new blu-ray changes are nearly (for me) to the level of the one above or greedo shooting first. This new change is more of a slight mood alteration. The others change the character in totality (for me). To see a young Anakin ghost, makes (for me) him seem really vain and out of place with Yoda and Obi.

I agree. I can't understand why in the world if they would go in and do more changes and then would then leave certain issues like that alone (seeing as they had the same problem with TPM) It just comes off as sloppy and lazy. The Jabba scene seems to me a complete joke now, with the inclusion of a Dud and the silly "Jedi Rocks" sequence. A scene that once conveyed tension now has become an exercise in different stages of cgi silliness.

Ok,

For 2 days all the talk has been about the "No".

Here is another blu-ray question.

Let's take bets (for fun) on how many units will sell (in spite of the 'No').

My guess is 1,000,000 (altogether - all 3 combined). What is yours?

I'm one of those people who grew up with the special editions therefore I really have nothing against Jedi Rocks but I agree that it distracts from what should be a "tense and scary" scene. With that in mind, a musical is still a distraction and should have been handled like the Cantina band.
Argh, I am just so frustrated but I kinda have to say I blame myself for watching Adywan's revisited films expecting the same and more for this Blu release.

I find it crazy that fans attack other fans for being upset with those that want the original editions for historical preservation sake. They just say they are his films he can do whatever he wants, without understanding that there's a need for the films to be preserved for an historical account! So people someday people have the opportunity to go back and look up the films and see them as they were done theatrically for a source of historical accuracy! There has to be the masters available because future generations shouldn't study the original versions of these films in a non anamorphic dvd copy, who know's when the DVD format won't be around anymore and the players scrapped, then how will future generations will be able to see them?

For the people with huge HDTV screens, mega home theaters, and projectors:

Were the Star Wars DVDs really a horrible video/audio experience when they were projected onto a big screen?

I've cancelled my order.

I wait for a true restoration of the OT, this release is a big joke, in ROTJ, the lightsabers looks the same that in the 2004 relase, the've just fixed the crossed sabers in 5min and that's all. We see the mate frames around the tie fighters, the ship explosions looks horrible like in 2004, the PQ is clearly disappointing, an intensive 4 or 8k restoration is crearly necessary.

If you're a true fan, boycott this release or order only the prelogy!
