I think she should suggest that her dad talks to Spielberg and asks about the process to get all three versions of the films in the set.

Edit: Just learned that it was not Katie Lucas who said it, but she did retweet it.
And it wasn't the Twitter user who said it either, it's something Book said in Firefly (TV series) so they are just quoting it, haha.

Nope. In fact, I'd encourage him to really go to town and tweak the living hell out of them at that point. Replace ESB Yoda with CGI, put Jar-Jar in Jabba's dungeon, just really go nuts... as long as I had 1080p versions of the original theatrical release.

I honestly think this digital tweaking 30 years later is interesting. Maybe an artform in and of itself... but it doesn't/shouldn't overwrite the original work. Any more than "Ice Ice Baby" should replace "Under Pressure".

Agreed. I pre-ordered the set at SDCC. I have no issues with the 2011 release at all, looking forward to it.

I almost added something along those lines as well. If the theatrical cuts were released I think I'd be inclined to take a much more relaxed attitude toward the various revisions.

For instance, I don't particularly hate the changes to Empire themselves. The only reason I currently find them distracting is because they remind me of all the changes to ANH that I really do dislike.

I think this would be basically most people's opinion.

It worked with Coke. Let's all vote for Star Wars Classic.

From Wikipedia.

Quote:
New Coke is the reformulation of Coca-Cola introduced in 1985 by The Coca-Cola Company to replace the original formula of its flagship soft drink, Coca-Cola (also called Coke). New Coke originally had no separate name of its own, but was simply known as "the new taste of Coca-Cola" until 1992 when it was renamed Coca-Cola II.

The American public's reaction to the change was poor and the new cola was a major marketing failure. The subsequent reintroduction of Coke's original formula, re-branded as "Coca-Cola Classic", resulted in a significant gain in sales, leading to speculation that the introduction of the New Coke formula was just a marketing ploy.

It was always meant to be blue. They just lacked the technology to do it in the 80s.

Another one, seems like all these are negative (except the ones coming from Lucasfilm.)

If the originals are out there in good quality, then Lucas's revisions will just become a fascinating bit of filmmaker folly, like the prequels. Can't wait to see what they Frankenstein onto these poor movies once they make a sequel trilogy

So the viewer is given a choice.

To this day I can't decide which cut of Blade Runner I prefer. But I like that I can pop in 5 different versions on the Blu-ray anytime I feel like it.
Agreed. Lucas can tinker all he wants as long as the UOT is available also.

I think Mr. Lucas wants to play the game of thrones with the fans.

Game over, man!
GAME OVER!

I will be passing entirely on this travesty. I was already on the fence (as I hate pretty much everything that was changed with the '04 editions) and now I am for sure done with Lucas and his little games. The guy is a certifiable idiot.

I am posting this here because I know that MF.com is reading the thread and people here are reading MF.com and they are suddenly getting excited about a "rumor" posted in the talk back section AICN that says:
Liam Neeson has filmed a new scene for the Blu-Ray edition of Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge Of The Sith. Frank Oz also involved.

I am sorry to report but that "rumor" is nothing. The guy who posted that has been spamming that exact so called rumor in endless talk back sections for well over a year looking for attention as you can see here:
http://www.aintitcool.com/site-searc...nvolved.+#1016

So the people in this topic below? Sorry but rumor busted:

Thought I'd squash this so-called rumor before it seeped into this side of things.
