Guys, I have some big news. The news about Vader saying "No!" has only been partially true in that the whole scene with all its changes hasn't been revealed...until now.

Well, lossless audio would've been nice on the other 4 versions. But in all seriousness, that remains one of my favorite special editions of all-time. Aside from the lack of lossless audio(which is WB's fault, not Ridley's) and the inclusion of that UK documentary(which was likely a rights issue and made superfluous by Dangerous Days), nothing's missing from that sucker.

Yet you read and responded to the post.

Nice try.

Not to mention that Speilberg also included THREE versions of Close Encounters of the Third Kind on his 30th Anniversary DVD and Bluray set. (one of my favorite sets btw)

Episode V is the only classic Star Wars film worth getting on Blu-Ray.

Unlike A New Hope (Greedo Shot First) and Return of The Jedi (Anakin's spirit), the changes in The Empire Strikes Back actually improved the film such as the CGI Wampa and the revised Emperor scene:

Quote:
OLD

Darth Vader: What is thy bidding, my master?

Emperor: There is a great disturbance in the Force.

Darth Vader: I have felt it.

Emperor: We have a new enemy...Luke Skywalker.

Darth Vader: Yes, my master.

Emperor: He could destroy us.

Darth Vader: He's just a boy. Obi-Wan can no longer help him.

Emperor: The Force is strong with him. The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi.

Darth Vader: If he could be turned, he would become a powerful ally.

Emperor: Yes...yes. He would be a great asset. Can it be done?

Darth Vader: He will join us or die, master.

NEW

Darth Vader: What is thy bidding, my master?

Emperor: There is a great disturbance in the Force.

Darth Vader: I have felt it.

Emperor: We have a new enemy, the young Rebel who destroyed the Death Star. I have no doubt this boy is the offspring of Anakin Skywalker.

Darth Vader: How is that possible?

Emperor: Search your feelings, Lord Vader. You will know it to be true. He could destroy us.

Darth Vader: He's just a boy. Obi-Wan can no longer help him.

Emperor: The Force is strong with him. The son of Skywalker must not become a Jedi.

Darth Vader: If he could be turned, he would become a powerful ally.

Emperor: Yes...he would be a great...asset. Can it be done?

Darth Vader: He will join us or die, master.
The changed dialogue is closer to the original ESB novel!

This thread hasn't shutdown yet. I'd figured since the conversation hasn't changed in 14 years, the mods would just shut this bad boy down....

We'll have to agree to disagree. I have no issue with the Wampa, but the revised Emperor scene is unnecessarily talky. And they added that little shuttle cruise scene instead of the "Bring me my shuttle" line. And Boba Fett is now from New Zealand.

For every "improvement", he seems to make 2 other detrimental changes. Although I suppose everyone has thier own list of loves and hates. (All the more reason to preserve the original.)

It's a popular topic and it's not hurting anyone. Don't see why it would be "shut down"?

You can bet Matt Stone and Trey Parker are going to make an entire episode about these changes.

I loved the one where they talked about changing all the old South Park episodes to CGI because that was "always how it was meant to be."

"And we've added in Dewbacks and more spaceships..."

As you can tell by my profile picture, I am so ready for this. I have like an hour of Jedi left and that concludes my DVD cycle of the OT, the PT I watched many months ago. I am ready to watch the films in HD!!!! (despite some changes I don't like, I WILL be picking up. I have always wanted the "original original" DVDs so I will be fine getting those too as I have never seen those versions.)

I remember that too. "We always meant to have imperial walkers in the background". It was something like that.

Announcer: Coming, this summer! It's the digitally-enhanced re-release of the very first pilot episode of South Park! Yes, the classic, rough, hand-made first episode is getting a make-over for 2002! The simple, funny aliens are now super-badass and cool! Flying saucer? No longer cheap construction paper, but a 4.0 megapixel constructed through a masterpiece of technology! Everything's new! New is better!
Trey Parker: When we first made South Park, we didn't want to use construction paper. We just had to because it was cheap.
Matt Stone: And now with new technology we can finally remaster South Park, make it look sharp, clean and focused.
Trey Parker: Expensive.
Announcer: Yes, all the charm of a simple little cartoon will melt before your eyes as it is replaced by newer and more standardized animation!
Trey Parker: For instance, in the scene at the bus stop, we always meant to have Imperial walkers and giant dewback lizards in the background, but simply couldn't afford it.
Announcer: Get this special enhanced version quick, because another enhanced version will likely be coming out for 2003!

In that interview with GL the other day, he said that the "NO"'s were always there in RotJ, they were just drownded out by the Sith lightning.

I just put on my DVD, and skipped up to that scene, then turned it up pretty loud and stood directly in front of my center channel just a few inches away to listen for it. I did this several times, and couldn't hear any "NO"'s at all.

I think that was just B.S. about it always being there.

I think the "interview" you're talking about was a joke interview.
