Phantom Menace looks like On The Waterfront compared to the 2nd one. Even though it's technically the "best" prequel, the 3rd one just has too many canyon sized plot holes and leaps in logic to look past.

Does anyone know where Palpatine got Vaders uniform from? Did he predict the future and have it made in advance? Does he always keep a spare "Dark Lord of the Sith with breathing issues" outfit laying about, just in case?

It's not the worst, it may be the most over-rated one though. LOL wow MCT really doesn't like the prequels.

Because he's the patron-saint of bitter piss-pot fanboys. Nobody cared about that jerk until Simpson's-Comic-Book-Guy clones started whining about 'The Phantom Menace' being the "worst movie ever" because it didn't give them the same religious ecstasy that they had built up in their mind over the first Star Wars. That's when they all started turning to Kurtz as their cult-hero, because he's somebody in the original production camp who validates their narcissistic undercurrent of believing that they could have done it better themselves. I think it's all the result of two+ decades of fan-fiction; who would have thought that their Star Wars obsession would turn so twisted and dark? They're like the stalker that grows to resent, then hate, then kill the one they originally started following because they were so madly in love with them.

Yep. My nephew got me watching some of those, and they are a lot more interesting than I thought they would be.

I think it's the worst from several perspectives. I can say the same about Ep.II as well, though. Mostly, its faults are based on being badly underfunded... the studio didn't give them but half the budget they needed to really do it right. The rest of the weaknesses are faults that are pretty much present in all six movies.

That's why I like the SE of EpIV, they fixed a lot of the most cheap-looking props and effects.

I'm tired of people whining.

Sure I prefer the theatrical cuts of the Original Trilogy but people on here are complaining about something that has been LucasFilm policy for over 10 years.

LucasFilm stated in the late 1990s that the Special Editions were the only recognized versions and that all film of the theatrical cuts was to be destroyed.

That's why they put the LaserDisc transfers on the DVDs AS A SPECIAL FEATURE. Namely, the LD transfers were deemed to be the best quality versions of the theatrical cuts in existence.

So, why are fans complaining about the special editions on Blu-ray and not the theatrical cuts when if they included the theatrical cuts it would be the same transfers as on the LaserDiscs and DVDs.

This isn't news, its been the position of LucasFilm for over a decade. Read the post I made about the interview I conducted with LucasFilm's VP in 2006 regarding the theatrical cuts earlier in this thread.

He got flack for the versions he put out on DVD. No doubt he will mend his ways with a future Blu-ray release. The NY Times article does seem to indicate that the classics are coming albeit a few years off.
Common sense and logic say that unless his ex-wife gives up her claim to any money made off the OT because she worked on them you will never see them.

Partly because we don't know one special edition from another these days. There were multiple versions/recuts. The absolutely lamest special edition feature was adding Hayden Christenson and others to the ending of Return of the Jedi as holograms. That wasn't part of the original special edition recut. And how do we even know Lucas is done? For all we know he may ended up screwing with more from the original trilogy and label that the "definitive edition." Stop acting like there is "one and only one" true version, because there isn't.

So because he couldnt hit is ex wife right and some other guy did we all have to pay for George's lack of bedroom skills? Marsha worked on them, won an academy award for editing and deservers her fair share of any sales. He is the onle being a tool about the whole matter.

Oh and the orginals were not destroyed, what versions do you think are stored at the film archives and the smithsonian? Not that crap he calls his finished versions.

I don't agree about the hitting the wife part but I agree that eventually the original cuts will come out, I imagine a few more petitions to Lucas on that subject started circling the Internet yesterday.

It's true. I can't even stand to watch that one anymore. It's just so slow and zzzzzz.

Even with all the additoons that managed to make it a better film, it's still the weakest one.

Glad that you are in the very very minority with that opinion.

Episode IV and V were Kurtz's best and then once Lucas took over with Marquand it all went to utter hell including that hot mess called Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith...both box office failures. The grand finale could not even muster 400 Mil .....why? Becuse it had plot holes so large you could drive a truck through it.

Yeah, since it hasn't worked over the last decade+ it might work someday.

Jar Jar Binks' innate stupidity, Anakin's horrible lines and the overall silliness of the Gungans make Episode I the worst one in my book.

True....didn't Lucas say a couple of years ago that he was working on 3-D versions of the movies.
