Gotta admit I do feel a bit duped after the initial reports of corrections. Blows me away that Lucas can tinker and tweak with these movies yet the OT light sabres are still, apparently, not a big deal to him. That just doesn't make sense.

The new dragon call and much debated "no's" bug me a bit, definitely. However it's not something that ruins the movies by any stretch. I never will understand the histrionics grown people go through when Lucas slightly alters something with these movies. I hope for their sakes Lucas does eventually give them what they crave.

Like others have said, I hope the final product delivers in the A/V department. I am eagerly awaiting the first professional reviews. Regardless of Lucas' revisions the movies are still good escapist fun and I look forward to owning them on Blu Ray.

+1 I own these versions. They don't get much use as my laserdisc player is not all that great & I have the limited edition dvds as well. But I do love owning them; they serve as a great reminder of what Star Wars was before the Special Edition/Prequel era (I don't mean that negatively).

Well I am not what anyone would call a Star Wars fanatic fan--but I like the series and do want it on BD. But now I'm not so sure I want it at $90. These 1000-plus pages of posts have certainly given me reason to pause--so I think I will spend a bit more time on the sidelines.

Because the Definitive box set is so much more expensive and I'm not sure why, and the single ones seem cheap enough. So does anyone know if they are the exact same discs?
There are no differences... I have 2 copies each of these LDs and they are the unaltered trilogy. The Definitive Box has all the extras though, and these are just the film only.

Top notch, want to see what this guide to the galaxy is, probably just a disc guide though.

They're not the exact same discs as the Definitive: those were in the CAV LD format (30 minutes/side) and had a pieced-together commentary on select scenes. The ones you're linking to (the "Faces" release) were "remastered" versions of the UOT without any extras and in CLV format (60 minutes/side).

I have both from the pre-DVD days, and can't say there's much or any real difference in image or sound quality between them. Then again, I watched them last about 12 years ago on a 32" tube tv. Do your research on that; I've had these in a storage box for a LONG time. What I do know is what you get on the ones you're linking is essentially the same thing as the limited DVD editions (bare-bones SD presentation with Dolby Surround; the LDs have trailers too, I think), with the added "benefits" of having one disc flip, and one disc change, and possible laser rot artifacts (as opposed to multiple disc flips and changes and possible laser rot artifacts in the Definitive set). The Definitive set does include a pretty nice book called "George Lucas: The Creative Impulse" that might be quite the dark comedy read today.

I'm glad you don't mind it, really. But I don't think people are taking it too seriously-- that was one of my favorite moments from the entire trilogy, and now I feel it is ruined. I'm in big disagreement with Kevin Smith on this one-- there was no lacking emotion there, I think HE was the one missing something there, not that scene.

For me, this was the one change too much, and I will not be buying the Blu-Ray set. No hatred towards George (although my respect for him as a filmmaker and story-teller has greatly diminished over the years).

For me, content comes before tech specs. I am absolutely NOT watching a Return of the Jedi where I feel the emotional impact of the finale is greatly diminished. I don't care how good the transfer or sound quality is when the storytelling and drama is inferior. That's just how it is.

I can not wait, only 14 more days. If your complaining and cancelled your pre-order over the "changes", and you still buy this BD. You have no room to complain what so ever!!!!

True on the other hand the odds of us getting another version on BD ( ie true corrected colors ) are slim.

There are no docs on the US version of the "definitive" set. Not sure what you have.

I love that the word "entitlement" gets thrown around like a negative in this case, when a studio butchers a movie like Brazil, there is a lot of talk about entitlement of seeing the artist's vision.

Well, Lucas is the studio in this case, and he is butchering the work of the directors of ESB and ROTJ. Now you can sit around and claim that Lucas is the really the "CREATOR" or "ARTIST" or whatever else you want to use, but he purposefully removed himself as DIRECTOR for those films. Other people were hired and have their names as director. Lucas himself said that the directors' movie shouldn't be butchered.

Lucas and Kasdan themselves wrote ROTJ, and it could have been very easy to write "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" into the script. It wasn't, the Director didn't add it, and Lucas (the owner and screenwriter) didn't object. Anybody defending Lucas can never complain about studio involvement ever again.

I hope I will be joining you. I ordered the series from Amazon on the first day. I am an Amazon Prime member and the Amazon order page says I can expect my delivery on September 27. If I don't get it by the 16th and it hasn't shipped I'll cancel my order and buy it locally.

Usually prime members get their blu rays delivered on the day of the release(sometimes I get them a day early).

Is anyone else having this problem with this title?

Change ur delivery speed to whatever you want, then change it back to 2 day and it should say the 16th.

I'll be buying this set at a B&M store. Sorry but didn't want to chance this one on mail order.
