I don't really care about the Ewoks blinking, about Dug in Jabba's palace, Kenobi's new call to the sand people, or any other minimal changes. Even in the case of Vader saying 'Nooooo', it's disappointing for me to a certain degree, but it doesn't break the film for me either.

I'm personally very excited to see Star Wars come to Blu-ray, even with the minor changes. Just from the screens we've seen thus far, even though they're scaled down, I think the results are pretty impressive. I grew up on Star Wars, and had a Rancor toy when I was 5. I prefer the UOT, but, what can we do? It's not one of those situations where the fan base isn't being vocal enough. The creator is choosing his vision over what the fans want, and I've learned to live with that a long time ago. And really, the special editions that came to theaters some years ago was the first time I was able to see the Star Wars Trilogy in theaters... so they DO hold a special place in my heart as well.

My take on the whole changes on
blu-ray controversy , I still like all 6 films no matter how many
times they are changed. The changes don't bother me all that much. Are
all of them good no but it does not take my enjoyment away from
watching the films because I like all the star wars films. I am still
going to buy the blu-ray box set because I'm a star wars fan always
have been always will be.

Don't hate on Max Rebo. He's the least of the problems in ROTJ.

It does sound silly. IMO, the meat of these sets is in the supplements.

But the difference in contrast is tremendous, thank God. I can sleep happy now. Very excited for the set! Finally, a disc version of Star Wars that looks as good as it used to waaaay back in the day!

PS. I also noticed changes to colour timing, particularly on Tatooine in ROTJ. The sand went from orange to yellow. And C3P0's leg looks more silver than it did on the DVD, which is certainly a good thing as well.
What's unfortunate is that judgment on the actual PQ will be affected & overshadowed (As it already has been) by the new tweaks.

Regardless of ones stance on the whole subject, both sides should be rejoicing. Those who like the SEs will have them, and they'll look great. For those who don't, now the fan-editers will have a great source. You'll just have to wait a little bit longer. Both camps will get what they want, and in great quality too.

Responses like this demonstrate to me (but not the moderator who deleted my SW Special Features thread) that we could do with a thread dedicated to Star Wars supplemental features alone, including things like packaging, box art, featurettes, comparisons to previous editions on earlier formats like cassette, LD, DVD. There could be some interesting discussions on these things, but they are of interest only to a minority and get lost in the mix here, which is primarily a thread for registering complaints. Hmm, maybe there could be just a complaints thread too?

OK, I've been gone for a week (which I know is equal to an eternity around here), but I've kept track of some posts the last few days, and there seems to be an awful lot of reiterations going on. Someone says one thing, and 200 other people feel they have to parrot it in return. As for the various issues, I really hope they've been fixed, but in the end, having the saga on Blu will be awesome! Two weeks to go, and counting!

It's a jump shot. It's not really an issue...

That's how all of the on-screen lightsaber ignitions were done in ANH.

The would film the actor holding the handle prop, then a stagehand would walk up and hand him the prop saber with the blade while the actor stayed as still as possible

then they would cut the footage of the stagehand, making the blade appear suddenly, with hopefully little movement by the actor and background shadows/objects

Don't know if it's been mentioned but zonadvd have this information for the audio rough English translation from Google:
Quote:
Update: Many of us have questions and indicators, both by mail and by twitter and facebook for audio formats later this pack. The information in the cover is not entirely accurate, these are the details that yields the information taken directly from the discs themselves:
English DTS-ES 6.1 (768 kbps/48 kHz / 24-bit)
Castilian DTS 5.1 (768 kbps/48 kHz / 24-bit)
DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 German (4362 kbps/48 kHz/24-bit)
Hungarian Dolby Digital 5.1 (448 kbps/48 kHz)
Polish Dolby Digital 5.1 (448 kbps/48 kHz)
As you can see the only track with HD is German and not English. A detail beyond any logic, because it's natural that the track would be of higher quality was the original version.

Blu-ray Features:
Content: 3 Discos.
Picture: 2.35:1 1080p (HDTV).
Audio:
English DTS-ES 6.1.
DTS 5.1 Castilian.
DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 German.
Dolby Digital 5.1 Hungarian, Polish
Subtitles: English, Castilian, German, Portuguese, Greek, Mandarin, Arabic, Hungarian, Icelandic, Hebrew, Polish.
Recommended price: € 45.95.
Extra Content:

Disc 1 - Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope
Comments from George Lucas, Carrie Fisher, Ben Burtt and Dennis Muren
Comments taken from archive interviews with actors and crew.

Disc 2 - Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back
Comments from George Lucas, Rick McCallum, Ben Burtt, Rob Coleman, Pablo Helman, John Knoll and Ben Snow.
Comments taken from archive interviews with actors and crew.

Disc 3 - Star Wars Episode VI Return of the Jedi
Comments from George Lucas, Rick McCallum, Rob Coleman, John Knoll and Roger Guyett.
Comments taken from archive interviews with actors and crew.

Why no HD audio for the English Track? It won't stop me from buying but I just think it's a little weird.

The original treatment for Star Wars... which is a clear indicator that Lucas didn't have anything planed out from the beginning... This is more like Hidden Fortress, the movie he cribbed, than the final film.

That's from the German edition. We have English DTS-HD MA 6.1.

I woke up this morning and checked this thread. There are only about 10 pages to catch up. Yesterday it was close to 100 pages.

Do you know what a treatment is? It's not a first writting with tons of little ideas put in left to be flushed out later. It's a short story synopsis to be used to sell the idea of having a studio pay you to write the full script. You Usually there's 2-3 times the amount of work written down in rough form to create the treatment. You don't write "well if you give me money to make this film I'm going to set up a 6 part series that will take 25 years to complete, make me billions of dollars and become a cultural phenomenon". But if you just want to hate for the sake of hating go for it.

No, this is an outline, or as you called it, a synopsis.

A treatment is an early draft of the script, which is more detailed than the aforementioned outline.

I would have no problem calling the linked text a treatment.
