Bottom line is when Lucas made the PT's he didn't put much thought into it. Alot of plots in the OT was contradicted by the PT's that why he changed his mind so many times and decided to make all 6 movies about Anakin. In the beginning it was about Luke and his rise to become a Jedi not about Anakin

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree. There's no real contradictions. They're all one well inter-connected story to me.

I disagree, I think it was always about Vader. He brought balance to the force. We just didn't know it until the prequel trilogy came out.

It was never about vader until he became his cash cow. I remember Lucas stated that it was about Luke Starkiller. Yes Starkiller was his name at first. He changed it when vader became popular.

I am not about to defend AOTC, but what you post is when he is very young. Post something in ROTS, like when fights Dooku, and when he fights Kenobi. Hayden and Anakin were right on in ROTS and was a real badass. In aotc, him being a melodramtic, whiny kid. who the f#ck knows why.

So he was just flawed and for all we know the kids had it coming anyway.

Okay.

He changed it when Vader became popular??!!!!! Are you kidding me? Was Vader popular before the movie was released? Luke's name was changed before they started shooting the first movie.

And what else would the prequels be about if not Vader?

So I listed like a dozen debate points UTTERLY DISPROVING your claim that Anakin's AotC behavior was not foreshadowed. And all you can say is a sarcastic "okay".

There's no cure for blindness, I guess. Especially if it's willful blindness.

I see them as b-movies, too. But it seems like Lucas tried to make them something bigger and more serious when he did the prequels, and I don't think he came close to succeeding.

I agree. I always felt that the The Original Trilogy was about Luke's journey from a Farmboy to a Jedi Knight.

The only other real 'arcs' in the OT were fairly lame.

Han's arc could have been okayish were it not for the facts that Jedi just plained sucked overall and Harrison Ford phoned it in anyway.

And Vader? Vader didn't really have an arc. He was evil and then he changed his mind. That wasn't an arc, it was a plot twist.

Yeah, as much as I like Han's character, he should have been killed off like Harrison Ford wanted him to be. The story didn't suffer without his death, but the character did. That being said, I do like seeing Han with the group at the end of Jedi. It makes for a good ending with the trio still being together.

Perhaps the PT didn´t do as well in the UK as it did in the US?

The way George with this blu-ray release is targeting the younger demographic by giving precedence to the PT, all in order to milk a new generation, while ignoring the old fans of the OT that he´s already milked numerous times, is pretty blatant and somewhat cynical if you ask me.
I think you're reading to much into it.

It's a great SW poster - it's totally cool and I like that GL is in it too.

The prequels were never planed until after Empire! It was about Luke! he changed it after Vader became his cash cow in the OT. In 4-5-6 the stories main focus was about Luke, watch them without the PT in mind and you can see that.
This is from the UOT, you can see that its about Luke and not Vader.

Here the new one to make it about vader

Bad plot holes!

I don't think that is going to happen. I just don't think it will go that far. I think I'd prefer that change (I really like the ep 3 Yoda very much).

But I think George will always keep Yoda as is.

Wait, am I wilfully blind or am I blinded by hate?

My insurance company might need that for one of the forms.

Considering the Lucasfilm crew has already said that George has no intention whatsoever of ever replacing the puppet Yoda I don't think we have to worry.

Yes, Lucas could change his mind, but I think George is proud of the puppet. It garnered praise in its day and its a very good puppet. I think that would be the one change that would destroy him. The straw that broke the camels back as it were.

I agree. After seeing Yoda in Ep 3 (and 2) the 5+6 Yoda does look fake at times and just, less emotional, less.. depth in his eyes. I love the close up's on Yoda in his battle with Palpatine...

But I don't think Ep 5+6 Yoda will be changed. If a "No" brings this kind of reaction --- imagine what would happen with a Yoda CGI change.

The one thing I never see discussed much is how these films have always been the test vehicles to push special effects to the next level. I think they suffer for it. The work done on the special editions pushed lucasfilms to new heights and laid the groundwork for much more realistic cgi effects in the years flowing. Perhaps if Lucas made more films he would have other test subjects, but alas these are his lifes work. I am betting the new work on these blus will be some of the best we have seen so far, but will look too dated in a couple of years paving the way for yet more tweaks. Lucasfilms has to get work from Hollywood afterall and these films are their resume in my opinion.

I would NEVER buy it and never buy anything Lucas ever made or involved in again
