Wow, didn't realize how young Portman is in TPM. She looks 13 in those screenshots.

This could have looked so great. Still, if the majority of the film is like the non-Qui Gon shots, I'll swallow this pill. It's still a crime, but I really want to upgrade from my dvd.

I can tolerate a filtered look, I just hope most of the film doesn't look like a wax museum.

I think Lucas seem to believe that no matter how much somene can mess things up, they can be forgiven and they can have a chance to make things right again. In the end, Vader does it with the help of his son. The Force is strong but there is something else much stronger then the Force and that is love.
I agree. Vader had gone 20 years hating his physical and spiritual self, with guilt in his heart. He felt what he had done was unforgivable, and that since it was his fault that the ones who loved him were dead, that no one could ever love him again. He didn't deserve it. So he was cold, detached, and merciless without sympathy for others. He focused on maintaining the power that he had sacrificed everything for, and then suddenly he hears about a young man with his last name out there making waves in the war, and it sparks something inside him. It appears that he kept that knowledge from the Emperor until the Emperor confirms the rumor to him via the hologram in ESB. Vader in his misguided way tries to make a connection to his son by revealing their relationship, which under the circumstances, backfires. How could his son turn down such power, an offer to rule the galaxy? This causes further inner turmoil. Then a year later his son shows up with a lightsaber modeled after Obi-Wan Kenobi's, saying "I believe in you." You can walk away from all of this. It's possible. And Vader resists. He still feels obligated to his own father figure whom he has trusted since he was 9 years old, Palpatine. But when Palpatine is going to snuff out this one last beacon to Anakin's old self, his connection to Padme, he finally cracks and does the right thing.

Oops, didn't realize that was gonna turn out so long. I basically just wrote what all of us here already knows. Oh well, it was fun.

TPM was the one I was most looking forward to see on Blu-ray. But not anymore.

It's funny that movies from the same year can look completely different.

Look at Matrix, the same year as TPM, and it's few parsecs ahead when it comes to Blu-ray image quality.

Also looking at the screenshots ROTS is of course the best from PT, but I'm surprised how flat and soft EII looks.

Even CG Yoda looks like he's been covered with a nice coat of wax. Poor TPM - forever ugly.

I have the video unmanipulated both from the player and on my screen. Take it for what you will. And this *IS* from the BD.

I really appreciate the effort CRS, but without an actual screenshot it doesn't count. Now you have to many devices adding their little "spin" (Blu Ray player, TV, Camera, Computer).

Have you tried to see if there is a free screen grab program? I am sure that has to be one....

BTW, I believe you on the shot looking the same.....

ugh, nevermind - I can't get this. The more I look at these images, the more disgusted I am. Episode I should have such a filmic quality to it (one of the reasons I love it more than the other two is due to its cinematography).

I'm waiting for individual releases so I can get Episodes II & III, along with SW & TESB.

Yea i know eveyone hates that -- but i dont.
When the Hobbit is released it will look like this naturally, its being filmed at 48 fps. Im gonna have to get used to it, it looks like a soap opera to me.

people are talking of DNR and film grain and are using screenshots (the Qui-Gon one). I don't understand the difference at all (no joke) and would like to understand more, if anyone would care.

If that's how the movie is meant to look, I'm ok with that. Otherwise, I'll stick with the natural film look. My only complaint about my Panasonic 65GT30 is that it has a built-in motion smoother.
