court,

No. But, you did see a report that Lucas was doing the reshoots on Red Tails with the Canon digital SLR camera.

This was my vote: The Ultimate Box Set, including all 6 movies and all versions (SE and Unaltered)

Although, I'll take whatever box set they will release. I am just glad to see these coming to blu.

You know, the more I think about this - how brilliant.

Most of the stories have glossed over the toss-away mention that the theatrical versions wouldn't be on this release, but were possible in the future. In fact, George himself has taken to calling them the "Classic" versions, when you know each time he says that he wants to vomit because he wishes he didn't have to talk about them at all anymore.

If they release the Classic Versions first, some people would just buy them and never the newer editions. If they release the newer editions first (which most people are going to break down and buy anyway, and we all know it, LOL), then a lot of us will gladly rebuy the Classic editions (and they'll probably come as singles, released in a staggered fashion).

I'm in. I'll buy both. I'll budget for the 2011 versions next year, and the Classic versions in 2012/13.

And those will be the LAST damn times I buy them!*

*until the 3-D versions, then the Holographic versions, and finally the "we'll keep your brain alive and feed them continuously digitally into your brain long after your body is dead" editions

About the set, do you think Lucas will offer digital copies in the set as well? Only reason I'm asking is because I'm trying to imagine how many discs are going to be in this thing.

Six for the films alone. I would say three special features blu ray discs at maximum...maybe? That's nine and then if he offer two disc with the digital copies of each film, that's eleven. Odd number....

He wouldn't do a blu ray supplement disc for each film would he? That's a twelve disc set right there.
I am hoping for 6 bonus discs or more, with all the old material in glorious HD, and new one in HD as well!

I don't want the DVDs around my place any longer, just for the Bonus material.

I love the documentaries on the DVDs, and the trailers, and...well zou get the point.

I am sure he will aslo include all the original audio commentaries of all the Episodes.
I really love those!!!
Maybe they could record some cast audio commentaries of the PT, but I doubt it would happen. Hopefully some interviews with the cast will be included.

I can't get enough of bonus material, as long as it doesn't hae a negative impact on the quality of the main feature!

...close to the $200 mark

Even if he did flog releases, (which he doesn't), when considering just how many of the most in-demand film properties in the world are Lucasfilm properties, the man is peerless, it's ridiculous to hold him the same standard as any other film producer in the business today; he literally owns 9 of the most popular and beloved films of all time, if he didn't keep them continually released in the market, he would be falling behind demand. How many 33-year-old movies are syndicated by every cable channel that can afford them? How many can be assured that even after so many years of continuously being in the marketplace, they can press a new release and be the top selling title for weeks?
Applause!!

Agreed and as far as the THX thing, it is only authorized on like 5 BD's so far but I'm sure these will get it.

WATCH THIS!! Before it gets taken down.

This is a sweet deleted scene (opening sequence) from Return of the Jedi that will be included in the Blu-Ray release.

Re: Supplements.

Much of the stuff from the Definitive Collection Laserdisc Boxset wasn't ported over to any future releases. So I would hang onto those DVDs. Some of the same footage was presented in other documentaries, but there is some that wasn't. The biggest omission being the "Tour of the Lucasfilm Archives" feature, which is about 30 minutes showing off a bunch of the masks, puppets, and props from the original trilogy.

Beast,

See, I think people should be very cautious before they just unload their DVDs of the series. More than a 50% chance that none of it gets ported over in this blu ray boxset...

I hope these reviews are added to the box set
and that Lucas can talk about each one of these plot holes.

Will the BD set have the deleted scene of Luke wiping his bum in the sand dunes with a Condor dragon's scale? If it does I might be convinced to purchase it.

They're not plot holes. That's called grasping at straws and fanboy whining.

And people could easily do the exact same thing to the OT.

He does give him a thin little smile there. Now, it shows how that event broke Obi-Wan down, aged him prematurely with guilt and worry, and made him pretty much retire from all Jedi practice and training, until Leia and Luke came along and nudged him out of retirement. I think Lucas did a good job of fitting the nuances of the PT to what he was stuck working with in the OT. (As much as people hate the little changes, I think he showed restraint in leaving so much of it as it is, an d not trying too hard to refit it to the PT. Even Tolkien went back and re-edited 'The Hobbit' to make Gollum more menacing, after he had decided to make him a major monster in LotR).

Still, even with the given intent, I think that "fight" was badly executed, and limited by very fragile props and unimaginative failure to use some stunt-work.
Beautiful! Don't laugh, but it teared me up a bit.

Hopefully they will be following the "Alien" model, and throwing in everything but the kitchen sink.

What I most hope is there for new material is the COMPLETE Star Tours film. Since it will be long closed by then, I think it would be a marvelous treat to have it on Blu-ray forever. It is in 70mm, so I'd really love to see it in HD.

Bonus if they include the other ride queue materials (probably done in SD but oh well) as well.
