Yes... I am not a star wars fan so I dont know what to believe. Ive been hearing it ever since i was 6 years old that some or all of the movies weren't created by Mr. Lucas.
To the best of my knowledge, Lucas is directly or indirectly responsible for almost everything in the storylines of all 6 films. He wrote almost all of them himself, only teaming with others at certain points (like his ex-wife Marcia, Lawrence Kasdan, Gary Kurtz, and Jonathan Hale). As for many of the concepts, he largely drew from typical fare, like pirates, princesses, fighter pilots, etc. He even spliced together footage from old war films to give the FX guys ideas for the Trench run in "New Hope".

Love is not a weakness. Being weak enough that love or lack of it kills you - is a weakness.

Maybe her midocholrian count wasn't high enough to deal with the lack of llove, it's known issue for most queens of Naboo.

Wow, what a heated debate over Padme 'abandoning' her children. Gee, how DARE she die during childbirth, lol. Just... wow. I mean she gave birth and THEN died but, I really don't buy that, "She just lost the will to live so she just died" crap, do you? Am I missing something?

To die because her feelings were hurt by her man. She's the only person I know of in the Star Wars films that died from feelings.

I'm not some hardened broseph that hates romance. I love a good romance. and I love ROTS. But that moment was pretty darn lame.
Yeah, that makes sense. It wasn't so much that she died but in the manner that she died... Couldn't have put it better myself.

It was actually pretty touch and go with Obi-wan for a second or two. He saw a bright light and Qui-gon at the end of a tunnel but then he thought '**** this, I'll cut the little bastard's legs off, that's what I'll do'.

Please.

I'm not up to date on feminist scholarship but I believe the technical term for that is 'bullshit'.

Plus if she really thought he still had good in him she would have had reason from that to live also. She chose the easy way out and abandoned two newborns because she couldn't handle reality. Love is a deep bond but it doesn't make it ok to checkout on your children.
I'm not making excuses for her actions. I'm just telling you what happened. There usually is a mother/child bond, but padme obviously had some other things on her mind.

List:
Padme

wow, that was easy. How about you give me a list of starwars characters whose fathers are evil and they have to bring them back to the light side of the force?

Padme was obviously suffering from some kind of depression at the wrong time. I've never lost my husband and given birth at the same time, so its difficult for me to draw from experience. Whatever. I give up. You win.

Well, from what the droids say about inducing labor to save the babies... it was clear her vitals were failing even before she gave birth. Or they wouldn't have needed to do that. And then the stresses of childbirth probably didn't help her already failing health. Which led to her passing away. We're not sure exactly how long she lives or how much time she spent with her babies before that though. Especially since her Death is intercut with Vader's birth.

Funny how in a film series with Aliens, Spaceships, Sentient Robots, Magic Powers, and Laser Swords... this crosses the line to "Unbelievable"?

Also, again... it wasn't just the fact that her husband was evil. It goes far beyond that. Just have to watch the movies with an open mind.

But we're getting off topic for the Blu-ray again. So let's get back to that. Wonder when we'll hear news of changes to the other PT films.
Yeah, I've heard of it and I've watched someone go through it. They don't act like padme acted. And you can't tell me in a futuristic hospital there isn't a cure for that. They can save a limbless 3rd degree burn victim but they can't save a choked depressed woman. Bullshit.

PPD does have to so with sanity. The mother loses sanity from PPD. Furthermore PPD is caused when the mother/child bond is lessened after birth. The mother can not handle the child no longer being a part of her and her's alone. It is caused by seperation, not by a force choke.

If padme was suffering from PPD then Lucas is implying that Padme may have done something violent to either herself or the children had she lived since PPD can lead to violent actions on the mother's part. That is a shitty thing to do to a character that was supposed to be so strong. Lucas wrote himself into a corner and wrapped it up in a hack job sappy nonsensical way.

I can be open minded to a lot in film, but shitty character motivation isnt something I'm opwn minded about. Motivation either makes sense or it doesn't.

This from the star wars timeline....

999.5 BSW4- A witch named Sycorax, living in Necropolis, claims to have the
power to bring back the dead. The people accuse her of being a
fake and kill the witch's son, telling her to bring him back to
life.

Instead of bringing her son back, Sycorax dies of a
broken heart.

Just before she dies, she curses the entire
planet, saying that if anyone on Necropolis ever ignores the
dead, they will rise up to take revenge. She and her son are
buried together, and afterwards, the Necropolitans are very
careful to keep the dead happy, developing many rituals,
legends, and customs.

Haha, yeah. She has the foresight to name her kids but not enough oomph to raise them. Maybe she sensed that Luke was going to be a big pain in the ass or knew it was going to be a big freaking problem to get child support from a dead beat half machine dad so she just decided enough was enough.

the characters are still human aren't they? fantasy scifi wouldnt be very interesting if it was just a bunch of unrelatable aliens... if their motivations, actions, and emotions are dictated by the need to shoehorn the plot where it needs to go rather than believable characterization, yes, it's unbelievable and sloppy plotting.
