Please don't make me rank them. I love them all the same. All six of them occupy one spot on my fav movies list.

Yeah I rank TPM before ROTJ and ROTS.

I think that TPM is structured like TESB and ANH meaning that you can see the bad guys in action, scheming their bad things.

In ROTJ, when you see Vader and the Emperor it's just in quick scenes where nothing happens:''Go back to the command ship and wait for him.''

Where are the bad guys in AOTC? the film cut between Obi-Wan and Anakin and besides the quick scene with Jango and Zam and the scene with Dooku and Sidious, all the other scenes involving the villains are shown when they involve our heroes.

For ROTS, I found that there was too much to add in that running time. Order 66 last for what, 3 minutes? Anakin turning to the dark happens like that, I cut Windu's arm then join Sidious.

Yes Jar Jar is an annoying character, but I prefer him over the stupidity of the 3PO scenes in AOTC, the droid factory scene and the head reversal in the battle of Geonosis didn't make me laugh. Can say the same with the Battle droids in ROTS saying ''Ouch'' while being destroyed by the lightsabers.

Again in AOTC, how many times do we have a character jumping/falling? 1)Anakin when he jump from his speeder on coruscant; 2) Anakin jumping on Tatooine to reach the Tusken camp; 3) Obi-Wan falling after kicking Jango on Kamino, 4)Mace Windu jumping to the arena after being fired upon by the Super Battle Droids; 5) The Ugly jedi falling after being hit by Jango; 6) Jango flying down to the arena for fighting Mace; 7)Padmé falling down the Republic Gunship...

Finally, why add the stupid elevator scene in ROTS and not including the birth of the rebellion scene... it would have slowed down the tone of the movie? That's what i like about the OT, the story matters over the action.

Those movies are far from perfect themselves, as much as I love them.

Horrible dialogue, bad acting, over reliance on special effects - if people were as cynical back then as they are these days they'd be saying the same things about the first trilogy. People just won't admit it. Me, I can overlook it and enjoy the entire saga for what it is - great entertainment, which is all it was ever meant to be.

For me, if I have to rank Star Wars movies, some of them are so close that I have to think of it in a decimal system, or a scale out of 100, (such as when I'm ranking them on IMDb, and I have to round up or down to choose how many stars out of 10 to give them; I rank so many movies on IMDb that I inevitably had to come up with a system of scoring out of 100).

III: 96
V: 95
VI: 86
I: 84
IV: 79
II: 71

Before everybody rushes to stone me, I love EpIV, 79 equals out to a solid 4/5 star rating. It has its own magic. It was the first movie I ever saw in theaters, and represents the earliest memory I can recall in my life. I've just seen them all enough times that when I view all the films as a whole, that one is the most sparse and simplistic, and blaringly underfunded... the production is not up to the quality of the other five, and Lucas, by his own admission, intentionally held back most of his good stuff and saved it for Empire. It sticks out like a sore thumb against the other five.

BTW: Those ratings for the OT movies are for the 2004 editions, since I like them better and thought it would be charitable to rate the best version.

They're all in the same popcorn genre flick category (which I love, don't get me wrong), but within that... category, I rank them:

VI > III > II > I > V > IV

Always thought V was overrated. It's good, but without being bookended by IV (to setup) and VI (to conclude), it loses most of it's allure.

Part of the flaw with the PT is that he didn't do the same formula. Anakin probably should have fallen at the end of II, to be a cliffhanger leading into III, in the same formula. By making Anakin a kid in the first one, he had to cram the love story too fast as well as all the action and sprinkled way too much foreshadowing of Anakin's fall (also incredulous that some people think it was too abrupt in III - Sand people massacre in II anyone?). Hell, I'd have liked the Clone Wars to start at the end of I, progress through most of II with Anakin turning into Vader at the end and III a race to the inevitable showdown.

They started with Anakin as a child so you could see what he was like before he started becoming a dark Jedi. I don't disagree that II could've been a lot better and Anakin's fall could've been better too but I still think it all turned out rather well.

That score SHOULD be coming from the front left speaker as it is and left surround speaker, NOT the right surround speaker. The screwed up way it is now makes it where some music is blaring from the left front and the right side surround so it's completely throwing the balance off. I tested Empire and it didn't seem to have the problem and seemed balanced.

Hey STARSCREAM,

Try running the French (Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround) track on it. If I recall that was the only track from A New Hope that was not F-ed up.

I'm really astounded at all the hatred for Jake Lloyd in EpI... even Jake Lloyd hates Jake Lloyd in EpI.

I think he was the most charismatic character in that movie, (no offense to Qui-Gonn, who was very cool and admirable, just not quite as charismatic). As far as performances by child-actors go, he was excellent. I also think his part was written well. Yes, I said it. (Really, he's a kid... what's so awful about a kid saying "yippeee!"? What's he supposed to say? Something dated and American, like "cool" or "awesome"?) Ask anybody who was a kid when that movie came out: he absolutely charmed them. And Star Wars is for kids (of all ages).

Yep, the saber effects are inconsistant in 4-6. Some of them got fixed for the DVD's, some didn't, and some came out worse. The blaster fire is inconsistant as well.

My guess, most, if any, work that has been done on the films for the OT since 2004 has been continued clean up of effects shots. I would think that the audio issues have been addressed as well. I am a little curious on the soundtracks, as I think I read somewhere that Matt Wood stated that new mixes have been done. Sansweet stated that they've been working on these for years, so I pray that they actually took their time and corrected everything this time around.

And, as far as my rankings:

The Empire Strikes Back
A New Hope
Revenge of the Sith
Return of the Jedi
Attack of the Clones
The Phantom Menace

ROTS had the potential to be up there with TESB, but Lucas didn't emotionally push it enough, IMO anyway.

people keep debating the merits of the special editions vs. the originals, but I think the real debate is whether The Star Wars Holiday Special should be included or no

There's a better chance of a naked George Lucas porn reel being included.

Agree with that, I thought he did OK. Controversy aside, I still enjoy watching the Phantom Menace - it might not be on the same level as "A New Hope" and "The Empire Strikes Back", but that is true of most movies.

I didn't like how they added midi-chlorians to Episode I, the Force is not really something you can use science to understand and I was very glad they left that behind in the other 2 prequels.
