But you suggested to watch the movies 4, 5, 6, 1, 2, 3 before...
When I argue about I assume that the viewer chooses the numerical order (1-6) as suggested by the filmmaker.

Watched the Pod Race again, so Amazing !!

Although very noticeable that Anakin (Jake never delivered the lines when he wins the race and is being picked up by Qui Gon Ginn) There is a obvious dialogue dub during that part. He says "Mom I did it " then gives a scream. At no time does his mouth replicate those lines. I don't remember noticing it on my old VHS copy or DVD edition, but it's very obvious on the BD.

DUDE! WTF!!! Vader is luke father? Are you ****ing kidding me!! Thanks a lot man!

It must be a good order since it kills your watching theory & you cant even come up with a better reason than "its not a real order".

Starts with the movie that was 1st, flashback in between, ends with the final movie/up note.

Not really. He makes just as much sense as the original Ghost of Anakin did, even if you watch them in release order.

And I think you're assuming viewers are complete morons. Since it's pretty easy to get who the Ghost is... regardless.

As for the twist at the end of Empire... it doesn't render it useless. It simply changes the dynamic to empathizing with Luke's feelings.

Which is why the proper way of watching these films is:
  • 4,5... 1,2,3... 6
That preserves the mystique of ANH and the plot twist of ESB. You do a flashback trilogy to Anakin's background after the revelation about Darth Vader in ESB. This viewing order gets the two oldest films out of the way early, so their dated special effects don't get overshadowed later on by the bigger movies. It also uses the 4 strongest films to bookend the 2 weakest films. The "plot twist" of Leia's relationship to the Skywalkers is revealed at the end of RotS, which is far more effective (and shocking) than the clumsy way it was handled in RotJ. Finally, it uses RotJ as the conclusion to the entire Skywalker saga, which is more appropriate than RotS if you had watched them 4-6, 1-3.

In. Your. Own. Opinion. Obviously, George Lucas feels differently. From the way he wrote the PT and re-edited the OT, it's clear he means for these movies to be watched I through VI.

I suggested they be watched in the order they were released... that's how anyone over a certain age saw them... not in some random order madeup so the plot twists aren't spoiled.

And numerical is fine... but like I said, you ruin the end of Empire and the revelation in Jedi... and considering Empire is the best of the bunch and the ending has the most emotional resonance, that's a pretty big waste.

I am going to PM Toys R Us at Best buy. I originally wanted the Complete Saga. I thought, it would be stupid for me to buy each trilogy separate. Since there is not a price difference and I would be getting tons of Special features(Complete Saga).

But since Toys r us is having both on sale for $30. Unless there is proof that only the OT is on sale. Which IMO, would be stupid. Yes, I know the ad only shows the OT, but that could be to save ad space IDK.

If I can get both for $30 each. I would get the separate trilogies. If not and can only get 1 for $30. Ill just get the Complete Saga, even though I dont really watch special features.

It makes ZERO sense if you watch them in release order. How will a young viewer who's never seen SW before even know who Hayden is? They wouldn't. Even if they have to "guess"... that's not in Lucas's cannon. He likes to spoon feed everything to audiences, with all the added "noooo"s and such.

I know you're a SW apologist, no matter what is said about it, but c'mon... even though they aren't my favorite films, the end of Empire was one of the biggest plot twists in the HISTORY of film... up there with Planet fo the Apes and The Sixth Sense... but you're telling me that ruining that revelation is okay? Please. Not even George thought of that.

How is this a debate? If George felt differently he would've shot TPM first.

"means"

I never said GL meant for Star Wars to be watched 4th.

Very little has been said on here about the accompanying art in the sleeves and the booklet with this set. Was there a competition held within GL's local primary schools for kids under 12 to do their best SW pictures? Some of it is frankly awful, especially the collage/group shot with the OT characters in the top right hand corner. Just terrible.

I hope they eventually release all six of them separately. I would love to pick up Episode III, but my dvds are good enough for the rest. Episode III though stands as one of the high points of digital film making -- sound, picture quality, etc.

The collage is the best of the page art IMO

the OT characters are quite evenly distributed :P

[Show spoiler]

The UK set only has a fraction of the complete image, while the US set gets the full shot (i think)

Sorry to tell you but the OT effects are dated.
They will never compare or stand up to the PT effects.
To bad the PT story execution was a train wreck.
Watching ROTJ last is like driving a Porsche on the autobahn then hopping in to a Hyundai for the ride home.

Yes, the OT effects are dated Thanks Einstein... really.

The models and compositing beats the CG work from TPM and AOTC in my book.

One of the worst decisions George ever made was not to have a single set of Clone armour made. Now all of the models look dated and the textures look pixelated when viewed at 1080p. DVD resolution could hide the flaws, but now they become apparent in HD. The downfall of 1080p digital filming.
