Me, too! I usually don't get anything early from Amazon. I'm glad it's this one. I'm really looking forward to skimming through the best moments of the series and seeing those deleted scenes (I've been avoiding most of the information about them).

Yeah, but how many years are we talking about? 1000 verses the 20 years in SW. I thinkn it brings up a valid point. In 20 years an entire Galaxy forgot about the force and what happened to the Jedi?

Well, they may not look like much, but they got it where it counts.

And hey... could there be an any more appropritate company to deliver Star Wars than one that is actually called LASERSHIP!?

This is the first thing I ordered on Prime before release day. I must do this more often...now to see if the Post Office actually delivers it today.

I would but a co-worker of mine already has the day and one of us has to be here. So I'm stuck at work until I get off. Didn't pre-order it but I'll go pick it up from Best Buy during lunch or something.

I checked the BB site again. Unavailable to pickup at the store if you preorder it online. My guess is probably the anticipation of this huge release. Like you, I'm going to get it during my lunch break. I just hope they have some left.

I would of bought from Amazon, but I don't want to risk that my box set has some damage on the corners and such so I'm sticking with the retail stores for this one.

I don't share any of those views.

With the symbolism I'm not just talking about the obvious things (Anakin/Lukes hand; Gungens/Ewoks; Droid-control-ship/Death Star; "This is where the fun begins!" by Anakin/Han; "I have a bad feeling about this"; Qui Gons/Bens death, etc. etc.) but rather the jedi-council as representation of the zodiac, the importance of the anima and shadow-archetypes in the two trilogies; the development and foreshadowing of themes like the dark side in Dooku or the cyborg-idea with Grievous; the various grades of dogmatism and dictatorship (even the jedi are dogmatic); the distinction between the living force and fate; the allusions to Kurosawa, Flash Gordon, Gunga-Din, The Searchers, Forbidden Planet, THX-1138, Shakespeare, world-mythology...

Just think about the grand structure that only reveals itself after watching all the movies: In the PT the jedi dominate the sith (in each new episode one new Sith is introduced) - In the OT the sith dominate the jedi (in each new episode one new jedi is introduced)... This reveals pairs of antagonists with different levels of complexity:

Darth Maul (E1) - Obi Wan (E4)
evil vs good. there is no common ground between them. There is no other solution other than one killing the other.

Darth Tyranus (E2) - Yoda (E5)
aprentice vs master. closer connection. there is new theme to cross to the dark side. from here stems Yodas opinion "Once you start down the dark path, FOREVER will it dominate your destiny."

Darth Vader (E3) - Luke (E6)
father vs son. closest connection. there is the new theme to bring someone back from the dark side. That's the wisdom of Luke against the teachings of Yoda. It's weakened without the PT in mind.
Nice breakdown.

For me, after I saw Ep 2 (AOTC) in theaters I watched ROTJ when the dvd's came out. For the first time, I saw Anakin saving Luke (instead of Vader). For me, that was an eye opening change (for me) that I finally saw Anakin Skywalker.

So now I always imagine Anakin there in ROTJ. The struggle in his mind - good vs evil - when Luke meets him on Endor and they talk in that glass hallway - so much deeper of a scene when you see Anakin struggling inside.

Lucas sure did a wonderful job having Vader show such conflict with a cold dark mask on Prowse.

These are great movies! In fact, I won't say SW is the best movies made, but I can easily say all 6 (as a set) are my favorite movies. I'm not crazy about all of ep1, but I still love how it connects all the pieces.

I also thought Vader was lying to Luke in ESB. I was 10.

When Jedi came out, I agreed with Obiwan and Yoda - KILL VADER - he's scum!
Now I understand Luke, and Anakin much better (the PT really shows who Anakin/Vader is).

For the Best Buy stores that are open 24 hours, are those stores going to have a midnight release tonight?

How would a trade federation blockade stop life as we know it on an entire planet that is full of 1) lush vegetation, 2) some insanely advanced power technology in that Naboo castle, 3) huge oceans full of sea creatures, 4) a people with advanced starships that are capable of lightspeed? I dunno, they never explain that either. That bet between Wato and Qui-gon? What the hell was that? Why are the trade federation aliens in league with some dude in a Sith? Not explained. Why can the Jedi run super fast one time, but never again in the whole movie (especially when Obi-Wan needs to in order to help save his mentor from darth maul)? Not even addressed. Why do they need to investigate the trade federation's capture of Naboo, when the SENATE had the Jedi council send 2 Jedi to negotiate the matter? Wouldn't the fact that the senate was willing to put their trust in these 2 jedi mean they would trust them enough to validate the invasion? I dunno, this damn movie just makes NO SENSE. How's a kid supposed to understand this crap, AND come out of the film with a general knowledge of the star wars universe and the Force?
Interesting points. My kids watched them at 4/6 years old and they never once asked any of those things.

From a kids perspective, ep 1 is pretty simple.
They love the action, the Jedi are super cool and Jar Jar is very funny (my 8 year old still loves Jar Jar the best). In fact, my 8 year old wants to see ep 1 more than any since it is the most kid friendly (when we watch it I edit where Quigon dies).

Kids have no problems getting the PT. It's the adults that have the issues with it.

I've heard a bunch of horror stories about people's experiences with LaserShip, but I must say in the eight months I've lived in the US and used AMZ Prime, they have been nothing but fantastic. While UPS packages take until 6 PM to make their way to my apartment on delivery day, LaserShip are so prompt that if they're delivering on a day that I don't have class, the courier is early enough to wake me up! (and when they're delivering me a BD, that's fine with me!)

This is how my 6 year old grades all the Star Wars films:

Return of the Jedi: A++
Empire Strikes Back: A+
A New Hope: A-
Attack of the Clones: B+
Phantom Menace: B-
Revenge of the Sith: C+ (because he thinks this one is the scariest)

Ack! So I pre-ordered my set on January 6th 2011. I guess I used an older credit card, because today I went to check on my order and it said the card was invalid! They didn't even send me an email.

So I corrected the issue and everything was fine, but then the delivery date jumped to September 20th! Thankfully Amazon upgraded me to 1-day shipping after I explained the issue via their web chat... My release day Star Wars Party will live on!

"That was too close!"
