Wal-mart's exclusive was a poster, the one I was handed was of Boba Fett riding a lizard. But I'm not sure if they were different posters in other regions.

Hyperbole much?? There is a universe of exciting entertainment beyond Star Wars out there. And blu-rays don't wear out.

Anyway, I watched parts from the prequel trilogy today on my "little" 27 inch 1080p computer monitor and I can actually see picture quality issues that others can't sitting far back from their TVs. Like how there's an annoyingly subtle grain throughout Revenge of the Sith that makes it the poorest of the three prequels in terms of picture clarity IMO, the shoddy CG backdrops of Attack of the Clones notwithstanding. I'm not sure what the bluray.com reviewer was talking about regarding the Phantom Menace, because aside from some tiny light pixels that flash every once in a while, it is by far the best looking of the blu-ray transfers. Which one would expect given it's going to be put back up on big digital theatre screens next year in 3D.

sunday: Ep3 and 4 and SPFX Making Empire and maybe Anatomy of a Dewback

monday: Ep5 and 6 and Conversation with the masters and star wars tech

Tuesday: Star Wars Spoofs and CC:Return of the Jedi then whatever is left to check out.

well that's interesting. I guess I'd agree with you on the 2/4 indy comment but i'd take raiders and last crusade. To be fair, I haven't really given the latest offering much of a chance since i only watched it once.

When i was a kid, temple but was by far my favorite.. maybe the monkey brains and eye ball soup?.. I dunno. I really don't care for it anymore and i assumed that was a majority opinion.

another interesting comment... I've only watched TPM so far but everything I've read has claimed that to be the best of all 6 in terms of PQ. I believe reference quality and avatar references have even been thrown around.

I know members are talking about skipping discs. Was it on a specific player? As for the missing paint, is it like big parts of missing paint where you can see the disc underneath?

I guess that Sinatra fella was right. Some people really do get their kicks stompin' on a dream.

Though as I recall he didn't let it get him down.

Cause this fine ole world, it keeps spinnin' around.

PQ 3...I would give it a 3.5 if any other movie, but there is no excuse for Lucas, the guru, the man who said no blus till he was sure blu was here to stay and then it would be done right..detail remarkable at times, but the DNR on the faces ,especially Liam Neeson is awful,I honestly cannot believe Lucas watched this transfer because it would make him cringe...sure the cgi and the cgi characters look great, but the main characters..the real live people ...is as bad as Predator only more disappointing as it is so unexpected here so it seems worse.. a washed out waxy face talking to a brilliant cgi character just doesn't make it it

my experience for TPM on video was first a 2 cd bootleg from ebay..followed by a vcd from e-bay and then a bootleg dvd from the ld on e-bay..all of course from the far east
then the legit dvd

this is a disappointing video transfer..I got what i expected B4..but did not expect this...I am using an OPPO BDP 83 to my PIONEER PRO ELITE 111FD plasma tv....in CALIBRATED STANDARD MODE..it was bad..SWITCHING TO OPTIMUM where the tv adjusts to room by a separate sensor,it was god awful..Pure video was bad..Movie mode saved the film and made it watchable after some tweaking

now to clarify,I am talking about the live character scenes, especially the close ups,the rest looks damn good

JMO ..there is a huge room for improvement on TPM

years ago i made a comment that some movies just don't look good on dvd,and later some will only look bad in HD..maybe it's coming back to haunt me NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I was quite pleased with the performance of The Phantom Menace both for video playback and for audio playback.

I have my upgraded NuForce Edition Oppo 83SE running HDMI bitstream into my upgraded Onkyo 5508. From there I run the HDMI directly into my Pioneer Pro Elite 111FD plasma TV in OPTIMUM where the TV adjusts to room by a separate sensor, I thought that the video was excellent with a natural rendering with very natural, life like color, excellent detail and reproduction of detail in both shadow and highlight areas. I would rate the video as 4 to possibly 4.5 out of 5.

As to the audio reproduction I thought that it was excellent in my high end and upgraded audio system. I would rate the audio playback as 4.5 at least of 5.

I will watch hopefully 2 or 3 additional in the Saga tomorrow.

Rich

This is Episode IV, although there may be some blur in the photo, TBH it doesn't seem quite that large, maybe 3/4 of what you see there.

Hold the paint side up to your eye and you can see clean through.

Same problem with Episode V and the Documentary Disc. Empire has it in 2 spots, although neither are as large as ANH.

Oh wow, I've never seen anything like that. Where you able to see it with your naked it, or did you have to hold them up to the light?

Just got my set. I'm in The Valley in Los Angeles and was worried The Complete Saga was going to be understocked. It was at the Target I went to, so I'm glad I got there when I did. 3 copies left and when I asked, they said that was it until more came in. The lithos were gone. No big deal. Just something else I would have tucked away in one of my Star Wars Toy and Swag Boxes.

But now... I wait. Family's in town until Monday morning. I love them dearly. But it's hurting my insides to have this sitting on the shelf. So near and yet so far. This is gonna be tough. Guess I picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue.

Well, you can easily see it on the paint side, the disc art is light grey so it looks like a black spot. I thought it was dirt at first

It's relatively easy to see it without holding it up to a light from the data side of the disc as well.

Just watched episode 1 and the scene when Obi wan is trying to get to Darth Maul but the red force fields stop him. Why the hell doesnt he use Force speed (or whatever you call it) like they do in the beginning of the movie??

i have a ps3 and the were 3 major audio skips during a new hope. i rewound and it still happened. there were a few other minor skips. wow though, i saw scuffs on r2 and storm troopers that i never saw before. anyway, waiting to see if i have to return the set or if its a universal issue. a few others have mentioned it. regardless, the originals look and sound amazing. episode 3 looks incredible. episode 1 looks pretty good but sme of the cgi looks really poor. im thrilled overall.

Well as long as you can get a new one I think i've seen that before, but not to that extend. I've seen little small pin prick sizes on some blu's
