No way. Seeing all these deleted scenes makes me really want extended cuts with them edited back in (TPM: Amidala at Senate, Valorum confronting Palpatine, Bail Antilles seconding the vote of no confidence; AOTC: Anakin with the father, Extended arena fight/droid control ship; ROTS: Birth of the Rebellion scenes, extended/finished Order 66 additions; ANH: Toche station/Biggs scenes, Vader and the officer talking about Leia's interrogation, Red Leader on Anakin; TESB: Luke with the lightsaber test! Probably a CGI enhanced Yoda to look less like a backpack and at least a CGI arm to toss the rod; ROTJ: Luke intro/lightsaber and Vader calling in RotJ, Jerjerrod?sp scenes).

I'd also like the CGI enhancement/replacement of the AT-AT in Jedi Rocks updated and a consistency check on all the lightsabers through the OT. Made some progress but not all the way there.

Need I say more! Not much of a difference at all and the bluray should have mopped the floor with the dvd. But that is what happens when you use 7 year old dvd masters! Those screencaps are spot on!

This is what a proper 4K 2010+ restoration should looks like!

This is exactly why I'm so interested in seeing a screencap comparison between the HDTV versions and the BD version. I bet it'd be a Fellowship of the Ring (poorer quality Theatrical release) BD vs. Fellowship HDTV redux.

I cannot get over the quality of the audio on these, frak'n awesome! The Phantom Menace's audio mix really blew me away. It was the first disc I put it and I was not prepared for the audio bliss. I was just raving the other day about how great Thor's sound mix was, but these take it to a whole nother level.

I watched Star Wars Revisited (DVD-9 version) thursday night and started the ANH Archival commentary friday afternoon. On my 52" TV the difference in video quality was quite staggering. The Blu-ray looks so much better. I wouldn't trust those screencaps. The DVD shots look sharper and more detailed than they should be, IMO. Maybe because of the added resolution from PAL, maybe because I am just insane. But the difference on my display; in motion; is quite noticeable. This is coming from a "DVD is good enough" guy, who only re-buys movies on BD that I have on DVD it's one of my favorite films.

As for Leia's little red spot...it's in multiple shots. I think it's an ill-advised 'dirty spot' from the trash compactor.

WHAT THE HECK IS THAT and WHY IS IT THERE?

Upper right corner, in the same place the loading symbol would show, or reading DVD or Bluray after it loads, it's a very small video camera. I thought it meant ALTERNATE ANGLE like SOMe blurays have two or three camera angles to view (like Moulin Rouge in the Special Features). But Star Wars has NO alternate camera angles.

AgHHHHHHHHH
They ARE multi-angle icons. I know for a fact that Ratatouille would show different on-screen-text if you choose foreign audio streams. Maybe Star Wars would show the scrolling text in foreign text as well? I suggest pressing the "Display" button and see if the icon would go away or some other settings in the "player's menu" (not movie menu).

IIRC, the DVDs use the angle function for various languages of the opening crawl. The BDs probably do the same thing.

Actually, if you just change the subtitles on the BD, it'll switch to that corresponding language's version of the opening crawl.

Oh well, it's not Citizen Kane, its only Star Wars.
Surely the best way to watch Star Wars is

UOT 4, 5 and 6

Then

1 -6

You get the nostalga and then the story in order.

Ugh, looks like there was some kind of manufacturing error with a few of these discs. My AOTC disc:

[Show spoiler]

It seems to play, though. What I will probably do is put a piece of tape over where it's chipping and hope it'll work OK. Returning this to amazon sounds like a big headache.

I suggest everybody check their discs, I am not the first person to have this problem.

You're definitely not the first. Two of mine have this problem. I gently touched the chipped paint and more flaked off. Will be exchanging mine at Best Buy in the morning, very disappointing!!!

Returning something to Amazon is about as painless and easy as it gets. Don't hesitate to do it. Log in and check your previous orders and click on the Star Wars order. Hit the return button and after a few quick questions, they'll email you a return label for your current shipping box and the new set is sent immediately. You can keep watching your current set while the other is on the way. They usually give you 30 days to get the original one back to them and they give you the choice of home pickup, drop box, or shipper location dropoff. Besides, when the other set gets there, you can go through it and swap out your bad discs with good ones before shipping a set back to them. You'll also have plenty of time to watch the nine discs before you need to have the set back. That way, you can confirm there are no other flaws.

Yes, I've gone though this before.

Can you specify which exclusives came from each store?

I know the lithographs were available at Target and the film cel was available at Best Buy but I don't know what the other items are and which store they were exclusive to.

these were all sold out at the first Target I went to. I want it but $80 seems too much right now. $60-65 is my breaking point

Bought them at Casetopia, a few friends got together and purchased various combination of multi-disc cases from them to get a better shipping price. I don't remember where I found the cover art, but you can download them from custom cover sites or maybe look through the custom covers thread here.
Nice printout... i went with getting the 6 seprerate BD cases,,just waiting for my cases to be delivered.
One Q,,does that BD case fit into the SW box?

I’ve come across two glitches on the AOTC disc, visual distortion where parts of the screen freeze, pixelate and go to black. It only lasts for a second each time and doesn’t lock the disc or anything but it pisses me off.
The two spots it occurs at are when Annakin is comforting his dying mother, and during the final battle as Yoda steps off the gunship at the forward command post.

The disc surface is immaculate. Not even a fingerprint or spec of dust.
I checked to make sure the firmware on my Panasonic was up to date. It wasn’t. It is now but it didn’t fix the problem.

Felt like a bit of a dick but I adore these movies so I took the set back and had it exchanged.
Popped replacement Episode 2 in and damn if it didn’t do exactly the same thing at the same points!
Am curious if anybody else experiences the same thing, whether it’s isolated to the Aussie region 4s or common globally.

I’m powering through the Clone Wars seasons now so it’ll be a couple of weeks before I get to Sith and the OT. Hopefully no more stuff ups.

You chose the three least impressive shots to link. There's plenty of SW OT screencaps at that site that look amazing.

Here's a few from IV that look real good:

But the difference isn't THAT big.

The question is, was DVD so great or the BD is so weak?

The difference is big in my opinion. Not as big as Aliens' but the Aliens' dvd pics look really poor to me.
