I've watched I-III so far. It's been a while since since I've watched them, but I remember in one of them seeing The Millenium Falcon docked somewhere. I must've blinked and missed it this time. Which prequel is that in?

I can really notice how they CGIed Christopher Lee's face on the flipping stuntman during Dooku's lightsaber fights.

I always took that comment as a not-so-subtle insult on Han's part. After all, Jabba's certainly no friend of his; he's more like a galactic "bookie". Combined with stepping on his tail, it really stresses the fact that given a choice, Han wouldn't be anywhere near Jabba for all the money in the galaxy.

I said I wouldn't come here after I got them, but during this timeout in the FSU-Oklahoma game, I wanted to come post my thoughts.

I've watched 3 movies entirely (TPM, ANH, ROTJ) and parts of the others, and I am overly impressed and thrilled with this release.

It looks and sounds incredible. I feel for the people holding out on purchasing this because they want so desperately to hold onto their childhoods. If you're one of them, you're missing out -- at least give it a rent so you can see how good it is, changes notwithstanding.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I love the packaging. My kids do, too, and they can't keep their nurfherding hands off of it!

Can't wait to watch all of the extras.

I also noticed that after watching TPM and AotC, which both have some of the best sound ever, that RotS is much weaker. I know the DVDs were kind of this way too, but it really shocked me how incredible the first two are, and then this one is so drastically different. It sounds okay, but it's slightly quieter overall, has less LFE, much less surround activity, and the light sabers are much, much quieter, with almost no bass at all.
ROTS just lacks weight and envelopement. All channels are engaged, but sound like they're in mono, compared to TPM and AOTC. It's a definitely a step back in quality. Compared to the space battle in TPM, the one at the beginning of ROTS should be an absolute assault, and it isn't. It isn't even close to the one in TPM. For the most part, the lightsabers in ROTS are anchored to the center channel as well. The good news is the sound does pick up pace with the duel on Mustafar.

As far as ANH, the sound is an improvement over the DVD, but I'm finding the center channel alittle hot and on the bright side, especially with dialogue. I'm watching this at the same volume level as Episodes 1-3.

Watched Ep 1 today. It was an awesome experience even if it's the worst of the bunch. The picture and sound made up for it and Yoda looked great. Moving on to Ep II tomorrow. Heck if I didn't have a family, I'd probably watch 3 a day. (Sometimes I envy the single guys)

Exactly. Some people don't get the joke.

I watched the OT and then I watched the PT, and I have no understanding why anyone would appreciate the PT more now that it's on blu-ray. They still suck. There is no way that Revenge of the Sith is any kind of masterpiece - not as a sci-fi film and not as some connector to the OT.

I could have sworn that there was mass hatred to The Phantom Menace and then everyone was pleased that Attack of the Clones did not suck as much as The Phantom Menace. When did it switch that people like The Phantom Menace more?

Return of the Jedi is still awesome too. How can anyone biotch about this movie being ruined becuase it has Jabba or Ewoks yet still like the PT which is nothing but three fart-joke video games that are made for kids?

Why Return of the Jedi is good:
1. First time Luke is actually bad-ass and not some whinny biotch.
2. First time Leia is not annoying nor bossy, and she's hottest in this.
3. Lando gets to further redeem himself and blow up the 2nd Death Star.
4. Most interesting dialogue in the whole trilogy is between Luke and Vader.
5. The Emperor
6. Luke vs Vader saber duel is the most intense out of the whole trilogy.
7. Ewoks represent indigenous people - don't people get it? They may seem like inferior beings but they are not. And their weaponry gets progressively bad-ass when they fight the empire.
8. The first time when any kind of trooper (scout troopers) actually challenge the heroes during the speeder bike scenes. They were actually harder to kill than the supposedly bad-ass Boba Fett. The only other time any kind of trooper is bad-ass is in the Clone Wars cartoon.
9. The whole Jabba the Hut scene is awesome, even with the new CGI song-n-dance. Makes no difference.

The only negative in the current Jedi movie is still that damn Hayden Christianson ghost. Anakin died as a good old man, not as a young annoying whinny brat.

I'm not boycotting per say. Since I don't buy blu's very often at all, it really has to be a must buy at regular price. I don't own any Star Wars movies on any format actually. At this time, it's not must own for me or more important than other stuff I want to get right now.

Rent you say? I used to have memberships to two major places within five minutes of where I live. Blockbuster who recently shutdown is out of the question while Videotron has shutdown several stores locally. I don't feel like going all over the place for one rental.

ROTJ is good but I have to give the edge to ROTS, only because there were no Ewoks to be found. Also, Jedi just didn't have the "spirit" that Hope and Empire had. Sith was intense and there was a lot of really cool stuff in that movie. My opinion on course. Peace.

Watched Episodes 1 - 3 today on my 32E200U Tv with no home theater system whatsoever ... and I was blown away. I have been reading about the complaints with the movies especially the "dnr mess" that is Episode 1, but after today I have not noticed anything wrong with them. The size of my television (32) might be a factor but if it looks amazing on it then why bother. =)
Although I did notice the slight teal shift in ATOC, mostly during the senate meeting scene(s) but overall it looked amazing. ROTS was fantastic and through the time I was afraid my TV speakers would pop.
Next up will be the OT.

It seems that unlike a lot of people, I don't have a lot of assumptions about what the past of the series should be like, so I enjoy all three of the prequels. I think they're very well done, and worthy of the saga's title. There's certain things I prefer were different, but on the whole they're truly remarkable films. 8/10 for all of them.

Quote:
...nothing but three fart-joke video games...
How so? As I recall, there's only one moment of that, and it lasted maybe 5 seconds in "Phantom Menace".

Quote:
First time Luke is actually bad-ass...
I think Luke more than held his own against Vader on Bespin, and the scenes with Yoda on Dagobah were excellent as well.

Quote:
First time Leia is not annoying nor bossy...
She's supposed to be bossy; she's one of the main leaders of the Rebellion. She was raised as both a senator and a princess, and saw her (adoptive) parents killed by the Death Star on Tarkin's orders. I think that would cause a major attitude shift, to say the least.

Quote:
Lando gets to further redeem himself and blow up the 2nd Death Star.
I think he pretty much redeemed himself by telling Chewie and Leia about the East Platform in "Empire", but posing as a guard in Jabba's palace helped, too.

Quote:
Most interesting dialogue in the whole trilogy is between Luke and Vader.
I did like their conversation on the Endor bridge; it's definitely a memorable scene for that film.

Quote:
Luke vs Vader saber duel is the most intense out of the whole trilogy.
Agreed.

Reviews for Star Wars: The Complete Saga are coming out steadily. Either all these people are drinking George Lucas' koolaid... or the box set is actually pretty damn good.

"So is the 9-disc Star Wars: The Complete Saga Blu-ray box set worth buying? Speaking for myself - and I think probably for a majority of fans of these films - the answer is yes... the simple fact of the matter is that these films - especially the original trilogy - have simply NEVER looked better at home than they do here. The video quality, while far from perfect, is so far superior to the previous DVDs that there's really no comparison."

When Yoda uses his lightsaber for the first time in AOTC i remember the whole theater cheering. This Blu ray scene brings back those memories, such a bad ass scene. Love the way he uses the force to grab his lightsaber lol
