The battle droids looked good though - not cgi-ish. The clarity and crispness makes them seem more disconnected on film - the "bluriness" of the dvd has an advantage in that sense. Yoda looks good though but still obviously cgi. I was more impresses with Nute Gunray - i always thought he and his cronies were cgi, but on bluray - arent those costumes?

I was also impressed how Shmi looked on blu - she waa actually slightly hot, and she looks a lot better on Blu.

The movie itself is an absolute bore though still. I cant watch this film without falling asleep - usually my eyes start feeling droopy during the not-exciting boring and repetetive pod racing scenes. I only like the Palpatine and Darth Maul scenes.

The acting by lloyd, portman, Best, Jackson, and Lloyd's friends are more distractingly bad in menace then the acting by Hayden and Jackson in the following films.

And I am a big fan of Rick Olie - that guy dont get no respect. I want to start the Rick Olie fan club!
The Neimodians are indeed customes. I always love when Ric Olie says "The Shield Genearators have been hit" with that facial expression

So far, I find the CGI to hold up pretty well. Watched Episode 2 last night, Dexter was a bit less believable but the Kaminoan still looks realistic. Oh yeah, I really didn't notice the teal tint, even when I looked for it. The scene where Obi Wan discusses Anakin with Yoda and Obi Wan is not nearly as dark as in that screenshot. The only black crush I noticed was with the fireplace scene between Anakin and Padme. Thanks to this topic, I noticed that Hayden stares at Padme's tits and then also bites his lips (he also stares at her two highlights in the fireplace scene).. a bit awkward .

Tonight Episode III

I don't know if anyone's done this yet, but I compiled a list of all the bonus features of the all 13 of the Star Wars DVDs (2 discs per movie + the 2004 bonus features disc). That way people can compare and contrast what the 9-BD set has versus what the previous DVDs had. Obviously spoilered due to massive length...

How come no one else is complaining about the other dialogue change by Vader as he is dying?

Vader: You were right. Tell your sister you were right. I should have never trusted that a-hole Emperor who tried to kill me when I was younger. If I had never dropped to the ground, I would have been a 6-year old kid killed by a double-sided light saber - how messed up would that be. You were rigggght.

I found a change that I haven't seen mentioned (though it's hard to keep up with thread). The first time we see Aunt Beru in A New Hope she says "Tell YOUR uncle...." instead of just "Tell Uncle". It always sounded very choppy so it's cool to finally hear the full line. Interestingly, the subtitles still say "Tell Uncle".

svenge,

Thanks for that list. Honestly, this set is a companion piece to the DVDs...and when you combine all of the material from the DVDs and this set, you can't get anymore comprehensive than that.

The one and only thing, besides not having the original theatrical cuts for the films in this set, that would be of any interest is if they had a long form documentary on the history of restoring the Original Trilogy...starting back in '93 to the present.

That's about the only thing I think he could do in the future, because the restoration/tinkering to these films are just as compelling as the actual making of each film.

We live in a condo, so I don't want it to be too loud and cause problems for my neighbors.
Your center channel is too low. Increase the volume to the center channel only, and that should solve your problem.

Default Episode III: Video Noise or Defective Disc?

If I'm reading you right, I've also noticed this in several places and only on RotS. I don't have the time encodes, but here are a few places I've seen it:

Obi-Wan and Anakin confront Grievous on the bridge: The shot of Obi-Wan in the shot before he unshackles himself and gets his lightsaber.

At the Opera House: In some shots of Palpatine.

Padme & Anakin talking in her penthouse before he goes all evil: the gray backgrounds seem most affected and only in some shots.
There are others but I didn't take notes (I guess I should have)

I'm by no means any expert, I'm pretty forgiving and, what with my imperfect vision and my cheapish TV, I'm not the most critical person, but these shots last at least a few seconds each and I found them really distracting. Is it possible this sort of static-looking noise is a bad disc? I'm very tempted to try an exchange.

Knocked off EP2 last night. The PQ and AQ were on par with EP1 with a slight edge going to EP2. There were more HD-show off scenes in EP2 with all the Naboo stuff though.

Very solid flick - but there are a few things that still bug me:

- The droid factory scene where they have to go through like a video game is tedious and could have been chopped right out. Its like an advertisement for ILM studios. This can be skipped, IMO. Threepios worthless humor can also go.

- Couple of action scenes go on a little too long.

- The "love story" stuff just isnt handled well. The lines and dialog dont mimic what real people say. Its Shakespearean in a way and doesnt fit. Oh well.

Overall though - plenty to like here. The Kamino stuff, the creation of the reoublic army, Palpatine playing everyone, the car/changeling chase scene, etc, etc. All good stuff.

EP3 tomorrow night.

Hopefully someone will find it useful...
Sweet it seems the dvd sets that I ordered have all those features. But on the 2004 OT trilogy I think one of the featurettes is called "The Legendary Creatures of Star Wars" instead of "The Characters of Star Wars".

After watching the prequels, it makes some things in A New Hope seem weird to me now. If they were trying to hide Luke, why didn't Owen and Beru just say he was their son and change his last name to Lars? Why couldn't Vader sense anything off of Leia?

Why does Vader say, "Obi-Wan is here. The Force is with him."? That line has always seemed odd to me. It's like The Force is Obi-Wan's sidekick or something.

I don't really like that green spark they added every time Vader and Obi-Wan's lightsabers clash.

Getting ready to watch ESB, now.

I think Vader is letting the crew know that Obi-Wan is no ordinary man.

Exactly, a sort of warning. Beside the Emperor and Vader (which are probably surrounded by so much mistyc by then) most people have not hear or seen a Jedi in a generation. Even then Jedi would still have never been seen by most people. So if someone came to you can said "these guys can run fast and deflect laser bolts with their bright color sabers and they can influence your mind", most people reaction might well be "yeah right!"

So push that for 20 years, most troopers on the Death Stars would probably thing "that Kenobi guy, please we will catch him in a second"

Just wondering, what players are having problems with the set?

The pre-release Product Descritipon listing on Amazon (and on other websites) claims that it has the "Legendary Creatures" featurette; however when the final product was released, that was replaced with "The Characters of Star Wars" instead. I just now took a screencap of the menu to prove it.

It's also collaborated corroborated on the Digital Bits' review: http://www.digitalbits.com/reviews3/...rstrilogy.html

The PS3 works just fine...and your avatar rocks! I wonder if George regretted his JarJar decision as soon as the annoying bast*rd opened his mouth.
