WOW, what a difference a firmware update makes! I've had my player for about a year and never updated because I never had any glitches until this set came out. The glitches were small(slow load times, very small infrequent video glitches, slow menu response), but with the firmware update everything plays flawlessly.

These films look awesome on blu ray!

Glad I made sense.

I would have loved to have seen VII-IX I think about it a lot sometimes imagining how much more scope might have been given to the charecters and to the entire Star Wars universe for that matter.

Although I don't think I would like to see a sequal trilogy now, not that there's much chance it would happen.

I think that what they are doing with the Clone Wars series is great (still need to get it on Blu-ray) And I've read various places that he has the scripts written for the long rumored Live Action series. Which I think is probably the better way to go rather than any more films.

But I can't see that happening for many years still. I think once the Clone Wars has come to an end and we have seen how far the 3D re-releases go.

Depending on the success of TPM of course, I think even though now it is often regarded as the worst of the PT if not the Saga, it would still do well enough to warrant the release of AOTC. And I belive even if they didn't end up releasing all 6 theatricaly we would probably end up with a 3D BD release regardless.

Once all thats out of the way, I think he will start to focus all of his time into the live action series. At least thats what I like to think. I do like having hopes for the future

See, all of this trying to make sense of continuity errors throughout the different trilogies is why I will never bother trying to consider the films as 1-6. They are and always will be 4-6, then 1-3. The biggest eye rolling changes to the OT have come about because Lucas is trying to tell people that the films must be watched as one whole saga. The mistakes matter a whole lot less if you just consider the saga for what it is - two different trilogies.

Yes I am. It would only show 2 channel LPCM when I selected auto setup, while using the Onkyo. So I had to go back under HDMI and manually pick the audio options. When I do that with the Yamaha, it picks every audio option available. I could never figure out why the Onkyo did that, as it hadn't until recently.

I agree, prequels are usually made to fit around what has already been established, not the other way around. Unfortunately Lucas has tried to change what he already established to fit in with what he wants now. Which doesnt work brilliantly. Still love the saga though.

is it just me, or are the clips from TPM on Disc 7 free from DNR?

I saw a 3 second clip of the Darth Maul fight on Tatooine (in between menus) and thought I saw grain in the sky, which wasn't present on Disc 1.

Thats strange I know that the launch models can't do HD audio via bitstream but it sounds like you had it set to LPCM anyway. Odd.

They might not be taken from the BD transfer.

At least a lot of the scenes used in the features themselves arent. It's especially noticable on the OT bonus features. Almost all of the scenes used in the special features are from the DVD transfer, it still has the blue escape pod lid for example, and the weird blue glow to the right of the screen when the 1st Deathstar explodes. So it wouldn't surprise me if they were using the older transfers in the same way on the PT bonus disc.

I exchanged the complete saga for a new one, and it drops out at the exact same places. I run a Sony BDP and a Denon 2809CI receiver, and I upgraded firmware on the BDP with no effect.

Has anyone else experienced this?

JSS
Audio dropouts have cropped up, especially in Episode IV. I had 3 or 4 drops while watching IV, bitstreaming from a Panasonic BD-35 to a Denon 3311. There have been reports switching the BR player to output PCM solves the drops. I have not tried it yet. It is unclear if it is a player, receiver or disc problem.

It's definitely HD.

They're the little cutscenes that play when you select a different location.

Watched A new Hope last night.
Looks great except for some of the added CGI which is pretty obvious, more so the stuff filmed on Tatouine as opposed to the space scenes like Death Star, fighters etc.

The CGI rocks for R2 are pretty silly, the call from Obi on is silly. The beefing up of the space port by and large I found distracting, dont like the added Jabba scene. (most of this not new to this version of course). Oh and of course the Solo not being the only shooter is just retarded the whole build up its obvious that Han is going to shoot and thats why we love Han.

All in all though it was worth the cash, I have the originals on DVD and this is a big step up.

I hope one day Criterion will get permission to release a cleaned up original OT. That would be very nice to have.

But was the trilogy worth 40 bucks, so far yes!

I did not buy prequels they kinda ruin the series for me, I like to pretend they dont exist like Indy4

Yeah I did find it to be quite odd myself. I got the Onkyo from my brother when I moved into my apartment.(His wife wasn't into the whole home theater idea) I actually got a really good deal with the Yamaha, amazon.com had it new for $359, and with Prime, a $50 GC and one day shipping it only came out to a little over $313. Now to get the Complete Saga so I can hear what everyone has been bragging about on here.

I don't think so. During Luke's training on Dagobah, Obi-Wan tells Luke that he is entering a difficult time when he will be tempted by the Dark Side, implying it is a rite of passage. In other words, what Luke or Anakin go through is likely a common thing, only Anakin held the most important details secret, while Luke was open about it. If Anakin had told the truth and owned up about Padme, Padme would have lived to see her children and Anakin wouldn't have 3rd degree burns on his ass.
