The Jedi's powers are clouded due to the dark side. Hence, they are not as powerful as before so their powers are receding.

Within the time of them getting from the Trade Federation ship to the final battle? If thats the rate at which they were losing their abilities they'd be no more than spastic aliens by the time the 2nd episode came around.

I too have noticed that a lot of the faces have that waxy look in TPM. However, i feel that this was done intentionaly so as to even out how the digital creatures look - since they outnumber real human actors.

I think A New Hope was put in for the re-releases in theaters of both Star Wars and The Empire Strikes Back in the fall in 1982, 6 months before the release of Return Of The Jedi in May of 1983.

I find the frame that's always around the picture/video distracting. Also, the majority of the interviews make their way onto the audio commentary.

I don't know, Norbie. 2 & 3 don't suffer from the same DNR abuse and have just as many digital aspects as the 1st. I'm watching on a 60in LCD and don't find it as bad as some here, I am not a nit-picker though. I watch movies to enjoy the experience, not to critique everything I see that isn't perfect.

I still feel the movies have never looked or sounded so good on home video and totally satisfied with my purchase. I can't wait for the weekend when I can sit down and totally geek out.

Thats the idea behind Archival Commentary. It's a cut and paste job from interviews that already exist, just like the ones done for the Bond Ultimate Edition DVDs .

Australia Sister and Brother

Right now i'm watching The Making of Star Wars, and i've just heard George Lucas say that "It's anybodys guess who ends of with Liea" (recarding Luke and Han) Is GL just toying with the people at the time, or didn't he know back then that Luke was her brother?

I know there are a lot of extras on this LD set (The Difinitive Collection). Anybody knows if all these have been released on DVD (and maybe some on the current BD)?
Anyone?

Thx

He hadn't made his mind up yet on that issue. Since '73, he had ideas of a brother and sister but he didn't really make his mind up on the whole thing, along with the "Father" issue, until either in pre-production on Empire or during production of Empire.

Either way, he's had a lot of ideas about the direction of the Original Trilogy that he really didn't set in stone until Empire.

At that time he didn't even know that Vader was Lukes father.

Yeah, and there are even pre production paintings/concept art of a Female Luke as the BD description puts it. Also Luke and Leia were originally the same charecter. So he hadn't even locked down on the hero charecter until late in the game. At least thats what I would call late.

Yeah. Essentially, the Empire Strikes Back was the end point for a lot of decisions on the trilogy..and in a way, the saga.

It's mind boggling to think of what could have been. There were so many changes to the initial story and so many ideas all got jumbled into one with elements from all the different itterations. It's amazing that the end product worked so well.

Yeah. And whatever ideas he couldn't get in the Original Trilogy, he shifted them around and put them in the Prequels.

As he said in the box set, he's a pack rat...and that includes ideas.

By the way, did anyone find it mesmerizing during the Empire Strikes Back segment in the archival bonus disc when Lucas, during a Clone Wars meeting, talk about the Force?

I've heard him explain it many times before but not on video. It was just sort of awesome how everyone in the meeting was hanging on his every word about the Force....

Yeah I found it cringe worthy with that one woman who was soooo into it, acting like she gave a flying f!#k lol

I'm not a hater of GL Im not a fanboy either, but whenever you see those behind the scenes footage, and when he's there stamping his aproval on things everyone is kinda just hanging around real nervous like in the background just making eye contact with each other...

And then when GL make a change or suggests something, everyone all of a sudden has a huge smile and starts nodding in agreement.

It's as if he's surrounded himself with "yes" men.
