+1 for the Kamino scenes. They're my favorite part of the PT. It's as if someone other than Lucas wrote and directed those bits.

Revenge of the Sith...

That scene never worked for me for other terrible obvious reasons, Ian is crying for Anakin to help him as he shoots lighting into Mace's lightsaber and Mace is simply in a defensive position blocking the bolts right back into Palps. It's not like Mace was beating up on Palps he was just deflecting the bolts back to Palps. Why doesn't Palppie just stop? The bolts are obviously ineffective and he is harming himself and we get to see Palpsapup's face melt.

You guys may like Ian's performances in the PT, but I think he's the worst overacting ham ever.

And if I hear that stupid Palps say, no no no again, Imma start cappin.
Lucas forgot he greenlighted the original Clone Wars cartoon (which is superior to the new one) which is why he wants it erased from people's memory as well (dvd permanently oop). This is badass Windu owning everyone and jumping great distances with ease.

To answer your question about palps being stupid, maybe it's to be consistent with his inability to stop shocking when Vader picks him up and chucks him to his doom in Jedi.

I like the PT more than I did when I originally saw them, mostly because I can see them now through my kids' eyes, but I agree re: the discrepancies you mention (and others, including in TPM the Jedi can run like the wind! but then they can't ever again in the entire saga), and also re: Ian in ROTS. His hammy facial expressions during the fights make me cringe.

Personally, I think the whole idea of Palpatine being the secret Sith lord while pretending to be a politician is silly. And not just because it created dozens of political scenes that kill the story to me.

That being said, I love the set, think the PT looks incredible, and can't wait to finish with AOTC and ESB next week.

And this is just another reminder that both the Tarkofsky and current Star Wars cartoons are better than the prequels. In the cartoon, Mace Windu is cool and bad-ass. In the prequels, the character is just annoying and Jackson seems like he is just reading his lines without any passion.

That deleted scene from ESB of Luke and Leia's near kiss was cringeowrthy.

Hated the "Samurai Jack" Clone Wars cartoon. Pretty happy that it's a silly lil EU thing, rather than being canon.

IMO I get to determine what is and what isn't canon. Even if Lucas tells me it's canon, I have this great mind where I can ignore dumb things. I totally agree with you about the first cartoon -- I think the second one blows it away. I'm an adult and think cartoons are dumb, but the current Clone Wars cartoon is just incredible. Some excellent stories, storytelling, and character development.

Now I know what TPM stands for on this release.
The Present Menace - DNR !
Welcome to the house of wax.

The story is also very bland, mediocre and remedial. Definitely was the last time I will watch this episode.

Finally popped in ANH for the first time and just finished it! PQ surprised me a lot! Sure it may have been good to use a 4K restoration, but considering we don't even have the TVs to use such technology yet, 1080p was really good enough, and I mean that in the best sense.

AQ was pretty good, especially considering the source material. The music DID get buried into the SFX sometimes, but not enough to say it was a terrible mix. One thing that I specifically looked for that I know people were upset over was when the Imperials say "stand by" twice right before the Death Star exploded. People said that you couldn't even hear it, or you can only hear it but it was BARELY audible. To my surprise, I thought it wasn't buried at all.

All in all, ANH fared very well and was definitely worth the Blu-ray name. I'm gonna go through a lot of special features through out today and probably go into ESB tomorrow!

I feel bad for the people not buying this set. It's a shame that it bothers some people that much that things have been changed, to the point where it ruins the WHOLE movie. I had a very pleasant viewing, even thinking Obi-Wan's new call wasn't that bad.

Well, as far as canon... IIRC the current Clone Wars series has Grievous with the sickly cough from the start.

The "SJ" one, since it wasn't present until the final episode, explained it away by having Mace, I believe, force crushed his chestplate.

I feel bad for starving children. I can live with people not buying this set.

I do agree with the Krayt call - it wasn't so distracting coming out of my sound system.

If it isn't canon, then why does it end at the beginning of Episode III, with the battle over Coruscant and Palpatine held hostage? It should have been on the BD's as well. The Grievous cough is just another cock-up although it can be explained away like everythiing else....

I like the original samurai jack cartoon better than the new one, though the animation is obviously much better in the new ones.

Grievous was designed to be a proto-Vader. His coughing is to reflect Vader's forced breathing. Why he coughs all the time isn't super important, the fact that he's more machine than "man" (second comparison) is.

The original clone wars also shows why c3po went from unpolished plating to shiny gold plating. THe first clone wars can easily be seen as canon.

What? The only reason Vader breathes hard is because Anakin was severely burned and battered. A fully functional unit should not arbitrarily struggle to breathe and if Anakin had beaten Obi-Wan, he wouldn't need the Vader suit at all.

Default Found a new costume screw up.

So I'm watching ROTJ and I get to the Wickett meets Leia scene... And of course, I'm looking for the blinking eyes. But what else do I find that's even more intriguing? Warrick Davis' thumb poking out of the costume as he's holding out his spear towards Leia. Time stamp: 1:03:48 Sorry, dont' have the means to get a screen cap, but it's clearly there, and I mean clearly, due to the increased resolution of BD, we can now see it.

Yeah, and not to mention that in one of the final epsiodes of the Tartosky (sp?) version, they show Greivous getting shot in the "heart" area that gives him the chronic cough.

Yes, I posted that video on the previous page. Windu force crushes his chest.

Oh wait, nevermind, it's actually part of the costume, but again, I don't think we have seen it this clearly before.
