Honestly, if you dealt with "Jedi Rocks" and Hayden Christensen's face in ROTJ, from the 1997 and 2004 releases, the new changes will not really faze you at all.

The "Noooo!" is pretty goofy because of it's delivery, and really it's superfluous and didn't need to be added to get the same point across, but it's nowhere near as egregious as Jedi Rocks.

Again, I detest that "Jedi Rocks" for breaking that 4th wall. It makes absolutely zero sense.

But to fix this whole Anakin ghost problem, make him 2 headed or hell, 3. Toss in that little kid and maybe have Jar Jar growing from his chest saying, "Weesa goin homuh" and then Yoda kicks Anikin in the stomach.

There is definitely no waxy face here, other than Carrie Fisher's makeup.
Hmm, most pro reviews are mostly just complaining about DNR in The Phantom Menace, from what I've seen. The OT movies seem pretty great, for the most part.

Empire is my favorite SW movie by leaps and bounds, and luckily it got the 5-star treatment in both PQ and AQ.

I'm watching in my HTPC and get this digital error every few minutes in both Total Media Theatre 5 and PowerDVD 11. Video card is an AMD HD4890 with latest drivers.

I haven't seen anything like this with any of my other Blus.

Here's a pic ...

Anyone out there received a bad disc or a bad group of discs?
This is happening in AOTC, too. Ugh.

I also like The Godfather and you think it's "terrible". Some folks like prime rib, some folks like microwave burritos.
Completely agree.

my disks won`t have that problem. ordered them from play.com

btw - just read article from dvdactive and i quote (on deleted scenes) :

"Well lets start with the negative, there's none of the previous DVD deleted scenes here which immediately feels weak"

so this set don`t have all the deleted scenes, if that is so, i`m pretty ... angry ! thought this was the ultimate set ...

Planned on waiting for a big price drop around the holidays to pick up the original and prequel boxsets, but couldn't pass up getting them for $19.99 and $23.99 respectively. Can't wait to watch these on Blu.

None of the deleted scenes from the 2-disc PT DVDs are included here. All of the deleted scenes (aside from one) have incomplete effects and production audio, or are just crappy animatics. Also, a whole bunch of scenes that we know were shot are not included, either. It's cool to see the OT deleted scenes, but no way is this a definitive look at the deleted scenes of the saga.

It is after all, Lucas' vision, his stories, his art and if he feels changing them closer to how he would have made the films today, more power to him. It's art after all and as such, gets interpreted various ways by different people. Like LOR, there are die-hard fans who memorize every word, each frame and it becomes almost an obsession to get lost or immersed in. I think it's sad that as an artist, you can't change your film like a written work or painting without people freaking out.

That said, it may have been a good idea to have included the original versions for those deeply embedded into them but I'm fine with them. They are so detailed you can see the brush marks in the blue paint on R2D2's shell and I love that stuff. It shows the evolution of the films in terms of work, effects, money invested and of course vision. Brilliant transfers despite the limitations of some of the sources.
Why would you alter a book once its published? why would you take a painting off a museum wall and start changing it?
You know, it's funny, people keep talking about how it's "Lucas' vision" - his vision was done and done when ROTJ came out in '83.
If he wants to, let him remake the films entirely as he sees fit (it would probably be a space version of Barney, but that's for another discussion...).

What exactly was his "vision" when he added the excruciating musical number? or Vader's "I better let the emperor know how I feel about him shooting lightning bolts at my son" moment.

I think it's a bit sad that as the artist, he cannot give at least the option to watch the originals.

ok, I still haven't watched the entire Saga, as I have too many other things going on in my life at the moment that are more important than Star Wars, but I have watched Episodes IV V VI, and I and out of all the films, so far, the best looking one is probably The Empire Strikes Back, which is great for me since Empire is my favorite of the entire Saga, and also it seems to be the most un-screwed with film in the set,

Originally I was so very much against the changes that I saw originally on Youtube, that I actually was planning on cancelling my pre-order. I decided to give the new versions a go, Well, to be honest, they changes haven't really bothered me that much, I mean not really. The extra rocks in front of R2, the horrible Krayt Dragon call, and the infamous NOOOOO heard around the Galaxy are semi distracting, but they don't totally ruin the movies for me.

I may get a lot of flak for saying this, but in a way I actually understood why original Anakin was replaced by Hayden Christensen at the end of ROTJ, the way I look at it, as obi-wan put it, he ceased to be Anakin Skywalker and became Darth Vader, when that happened the good man who was your father was destroyed, that being the point, the reason he would not have been an old man ghost is because that Anakin really did die during ROTS, only at the very end did he find redemption, so Anakin was restored to the way he looked before he went spiraling down the dark path and his former life was completely destroyed. That being said, I wish GL had released the theatrical versions via seamless branching, for the purists.

I have no problem with special effects being updated, as was done with the Original Series of Star Trek, but when it changes the story, sometimes that can be irritating, but hey, just my opinion, don't crucify me please....

I 100% agree with you. This is how I felt about the BD set. I still enjoyed the films a lot, despite the cheesy "nooooo!" in ROTJ. Some of the stuff people are crying about, such as Ewoks blinking, isn't even noticable.

Ditto. Most of the updates are welcomed as far as Im concerned. The OT lines up better with the PT with the updated backgrounds and effects. And yes - Christiansen replacing Shaw is a no-brainer despite what the haters say about it for the exact reason you mentioned. Of course, we ALL hate the Greedo shooting first thing or the terrible new song on Jabbas barge. And, I can certainly do without another lame "Nooooooo"!

l tore through all six films in the last couple of days, and l'm about to start 'em over again. Love 'em.

So, does Revenge of the Sith dethrone Avatar for best PQ? l'm still looking for my jaw after viewing Episode lll. l lost it somewhere on the floor.

With the exception of TPM being a bit softer, I have found the PQ to be consistently good across the board with all episodes.

Finished empire and I had a couple of thoughts on ANH and ESB.

The Jabba scene before they board the falcon is horrible. They need to remove it. Han stepping on Jabbas tale makes Jabba look like a sucker and not the ruthless lord he is supposed to be. The Greedo scene also establishes everything that is said in Jabba scene. Cut the Jabba scene for sure.

Also - I need to get a 5.1 or 7.1 setup - anybody know of a not too expensive one with small speakers?
