Greetings,

Sure do. I have been a member here for quite some time. I don't get the chance to post as much as I would like (busy!) but try to check in from time to time.

It wasn't that the stuff Anakin dreamed didn't come true, he just never fully understood them. He never even thought that the reason he saw Padme dying during childbirth would be because of what he had done to her. If he hadn't turned to the dark side, she would have likely survived.
So his dream of freeing her wasn't so much because she was a slave anymore but because the sand people had her held captive. That's an interesting way of looking at it.

Whew!

Finally managed to make my way alive through A New Hope. Actually enjoyed it more than I usually do. Awesome PQ and AQ. Was especially impressed by the Obi-Wan/Vader lightsaber duel. The Sabers looked fantastic! Eons better than the last DVD set and way better than pretty much every previous release. Very happy I managed to finally watch it. Wish I wouldn't have put it off so long. And I guess I'll wrap things up tomorrow with Empire.

Did you not get the memo that there is another movie after 'Empire'?

He didn't know she had been captured by the sand people until he came to his mother's village and her former master told him he sold her. He knew he would free her he just didn't know what he'd be freeing her from.

At first, I thought it was my speakers. I stopped Episode 3, and put in #2 real quick to play a battle scene. Noticed that the AQ was far superb from #3. So I went back and sucked it up and watched the rest of #3. At times, it felt I watching, or should I say hearing it through TV speakers.
I just finished watching ROTS (III). The audio was superb. I made no adjustments. The audio was just as good as it was on I and II. I watched all three, bitstreaming from my Sony BDP S570 to my Pioneer set to AutoSurround.

Bad disk?

I watched Jedi after the 3 prequels. I couldn't bring myself to watch ANH. So went out of order to watch my favorite OT film.

I can't keep up with this thread, but just in case it hasn't been posted (or is buried), the Wall Street Journal published a review/discussion I found worth reading, regardless of the perspective -- which should be kind'a clear from the, uh, fair'n'balanced title: Did George Lucas Mess Up ‘Star Wars’ on Blu-Ray?

Truthfully, I was just surprised a mainstream publication actually looked at it this closely, even if just on their blog. Then again, I've been reading freshman essays all week, so reading complete sentences in unified paragraphs that build towards a logical conclusion by using relevant details is a pleasure.

Help.

Jedi is my favorite film in the saga. However, ESB is IMO unarguably the best Star Wars film.

Right! He dreamed he freed her, but, had the circumstances differed from PTM? Technically, no. She was still a slave by the time he reached her in AotC just to a different master. She had been freed from slavery already before the Tusken Raiders captured her and made her a slave again.

Oh, I don't think you can say any film is unarguably the best. It's all a matter of personal opinion.

Empire ranks either 3rd or 4th for me, depending on mood. Since it often swaps position with RotS.

You're right. I just think Empire represents the saga the best and it's not even my favorite film in the saga. Every time I think about SW the Empire scenes seem to flash to my mind first. The scale and execution of that film is just Epic!

Every time I try to think of ways to justify Empire being 3rd or 4th best in the series, my brain locks up. Especially if we're talking about two, possibly all three, PREQUEL movies being better than it. A New Hope or ROTJ, whatever, its all personal opinion at that point, as you can make a case for any of those two. But trying to fathom any of the prequels being better than Empire makes me feel dirty.

I agree, without 'Empire' the other films might not exist at all. It is the backbone of the whole trilogy and always will be. If a sith only deals in absolutes I guess I am one.

I must admit to being a bit dissapointed with the deleted scenes. I expected them to be finished quality.

Empire Strikes Back is very good but I prefer the prequels. The special effects in the OT look way too dated to me. The lightsaber duels for example, in the OT they look so slow, like 80 year olds swinging swords. In the PT the duels look awesome, like some sort of martial arts.

Would love to see the OT completely remade with a big budget. Would also love to see something beyond the OT, I want to know what happens after Vader's death.

Watched ROTJ the other day (have watchd AOTC since), and I noticed some things I've never noticed before. I don't know if the increased resolution helped me or if they are new additions. In Jabba's Palace, I noticed 2 characters that I don't ever recall seeing before.

The first one was just a uniform in the background up on some stairs. No head was visible, but those familiar with the uniform would not mistake it for anything else...and that uniform was Bossk's yellow and white starfighter uniform.

The second was I think when Luke fell into the Rancor pit. A whole conglomerate of aliens move forward towards the pit from the left of the screen. Within this group, another familiar outfit was visible. I'm not certain, but I believe it was Dengar. It was definately the brown and white outfit that Dengar wears.

So basically, not only do we have Boba Fett in Jabba's Palace, but possibly two more of the bounty hunters that were lined up on the Executor in TESB.

Before the duel in PTM, Empire's lightsabre duel was the best. I would say in the whole saga that there are 3 truly great lightsabre duels, Darth Maul vs. Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan, Anakin(Vader) vs. Obi-Wan (RotS) and Luke vs. Vader(ESB).
