It looks that way for me too, I thought it would feel weirder, having a star wars home video release on the horizon that won't be getting bought, but it's actually no biggie. Bring on Indy!

Even though he instructed Gilbert Taylor to make the cinematography as grounded as possible, Lucas probably wanted that dark, blue hue on the movies from the beginning, yet had to live with the inferior 'workprints'
Even the diffused look (Lucas insisted Taylor put a stocking over the lens) from the Tatooine desert is completely gone.

Default Lost star wars footage

MISSING/LOST STAR WARS FOOTAGE NEVER BEFORE DISCOVERED

After sitting through and watching an unrelated video, I discovered unknown and previously undiscovered footage, that I hope will make it into the Blu-ray boxed set of Star Wars.

This video contains a series of various clips regarding the infamous "Wilhelm Scream" that infects so many Hollywood movies. If you wade through the footage, around "2:14" into the video, there is a scene with Harrison Ford as Han Solo and Peter Mayhew as Chewbacca where they are on, what appears to be a stage from a western movie and they are there with a Stormtrooper.

Now, I have examined the 5 second clip and it is, indeed, Harrison Ford. It is not a stage actor or from any Star Wars fan-produced scene or Disney or Universal Studios set piece for tourists or vacationers. I would like to know, as the clothing Harrison Ford is wearing is from his Han Solo clothing from Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope.

Judge for yourself and let me know what you think:

That would be the holiday special, and its pretty unlikely we'll ever see that on DVD.

Yep, I remember sitting through that mess as a kid. And when the big showdown came at the end with Solo, they were too cheap to do a special effect of a laser bolt, so they just had Solo slap the blaster out of the Stormtrooper's hand while he then stumbles over the side of the tree house.
I wanted a shootout!!!

I don't know, I could see Lucas including it as a part of Star Wars history.

He reputedly hates it more than the original cuts, so don't hold your breath. We'll see the original cuts released remastered and otherwise unaltered before we'll see the Holiday Special sold legally.

And as previously stated...Lucas will replace Ep I Yoda with CGI and hopefully it will not look as bad as the one from II and III.

I do not believe that he has reached that level of insanity YET, change to the versions from V and VI. But we will just have to wait and see.

Its a shame that some ILMers do not post here and give us some tidbits on the changes of the upcoming BDs.

.
Yeah, sure, because ILMers have time to waste on some whiny geeks on the internet.

Lucas has stated that he never wants that special to see the light of day. He authorized it, but an entirely different production company made the special - and it shows.

Now that would be awesome! Would absolutely love to see that! But, if not, Jedi Master Kermit the Frog will still be ok.

Don't know if this had been posted yet, but according to IGN, we're getting all 6 Star Wars movies remastered in 3D on Blu-ray, with each movie releasing theatrically as well, in 3D:

Star Wars Finally Hits 3D
Reach out and touch Jar Jar.
September 28, 2010
by Richard George We've been hearing for months - even straight from George Lucas himself - that Star Wars should receive the 3D treatment. This evening word has come that work has indeed begun on converting the entire Star Wars franchise into the new format.

Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Lucasfilm and 20th Century Fox are planning a relaunch of the six Star Wars films beginning in early 2012. One film would be released in that same timeframe per year, starting with The Phantom Menace. The report mentions that each adaptation would take about a year, and that the release schedule could be affected by the financial performance of each movie. (Something tells us that's not going to be a problem.)

The availability of 3D tech has been one of the reasons Lucas has been holding out. The Reporter mentions the availability of properly equipped theaters as well as televisions have affected the timetable, as Lucas wants to make sure as many people see the re-releases as possible.

For the latest on Star Wars in 3D, stay tuned to IGN Movies.

I'd love to see them in 3D in the theaters -- but I won't be buying any 3D equipment for my home anytime soon (if ever).

So are the blus delayed because this is the way George always intended for Star Wars to be seen?

It doesn't say that we are getting them in 3D on Blu-Ray. Just that they are coming out theatrically in 3D. The first 3D release (Episode I) doesn't even come out until 2012, and the movies will be released 1 per year, because it takes about a year to do the proper 3D converstion on each movie. This means that the last 3D release (which will likely be Return of the Jedi) won't even come out until 2017.

So, next year's Blu-Ray release certainly won't be in 3D. And we certainly won't see any kind of 3D Blu-Ray box set of all 6 movies until the theatrical runs are all over. And this is assuming that Blu-Ray is even still around in a big way in 2017 (I hope it will be, but that's 7 years away... a lot could happen in that time). Granted, each film may get it's own individual 3D Blu-Ray release later a few months after each respective theatrical run, so the wait to have at least some Star Wars movies on BD in 3D may happen much sooner than 2017, but it's not exactly something that is "just around the corner" either.
