Hilarious! I seem to remember those three movies totally functioning as the all-encompassing "Star Wars" for at least a couple of decades.

He had a big ol' notebook full of notes and key story points detailing all the things he kind of wished he could incorporate. Of course, he had no reason to think he was going to get to make a 2nd film, let alone a 3rd or 4th, because he had no idea if the 1st one would be a box office hit. Had the first film tanked at the B.O., obviously that would have been the first and last SW film.

1983-1999 is at least a couple decades? In what world?

on a different note, anyone knows why the opening crawl of The Empire Strikes Back is wider that the image size? I mean, in I-IV the text takes only the size of the image and you can read every word as the line appears, but for TESB, you have to wait for the crawl to move up before reading a full line.

As someone born in 1984, I can safetly say the "Star Wars Trilogy" was considered, by yours truly, to be the holy grail of movies and had been around, in that form, for what I (at the time of the first prequel) considered to be an eternity.

There will never be a Star Wars Saga (1-6) for that young boy.

Even at the Lars homestead? Meadows of Naboo? Even with all the physical models built? As seen in the making of books and the docus.

Maybe the reason that younger viewers usually enjoy the PT more is that maybe they'd never had an old trilogy to put up on a pedestal. I got as big a kick out of TPM, AOTC and ROTS as an adult as I did of the OT when I was a kid. It was just as exciting, exhilarating, captivating, and mind-blowing. It wouldn't occur to me to go up to GL (if I could) and say, "George, you made a mistake with the PT, you should make the movies I want to see, not the movies you wanted to make".

In the end, it was thanks to the OT that GL had the financial independence to make the PT, wasn't it? So if we, as fans of the OT, enabled him to make the movies he wanted to make, why should we complain about it? We more or less gave him the money to make them, either through box-office receipts or merchandising. So more power to him for staying true to his personal vision, imho.
Well said, matches me almost exactly, I love all films, there are things about each of the films that I like over all the others.

Can anyone tell me, is there much difference between the 1997 Special Editions, and the Special Editions released on DVD in 2004? (aside from Hayden in ROTJ).

I don't mean to interrupt all this pointless bickering, but can someone provide me with links to Blu-ray screenshots of the Saga.

Thanks in advance.

Especially VFX settings of the PT, or planet views of the OT.

Yes, I like all the movies individually. Sure, there are things that could have been improved, but for God's sake don't mention it to George Lucas.

The Panny 35 is garbage. Horribly slow load times. Bought one in October 2009 and 3 months later the blu laser went out. Nice paper weight.

Jar Jar Binks looks so much different then the other Gungan on the blu-ray, or am I seeing things? Also the intro scene on the federation ship, seems shrunken down in time?
