The sound mixes for all 6 films are great on blu-ray and the extras are good as well. Sure their has been some controversy over the changes and tweaks GL has made to the films for the blu-ray release but it's star wars on blu-ray and all the disc's in the 9 disc set is fantastic. Another thing their has been some controversy over the years about the re coloring of the films for the 2004 dvd release and the 2011 blu-ray release of the original trilogy I'm not bothered by it at all some of the issues where fixed for the blu-rays some where not. I won't go into to detail of what those issues are and where because it's been debated about for many years. Star Wars on blu-ray is great changes / tweaks in all.
Glad you like the set, though I didn't expect anything else from you.

I just finished watching TPM for the 4 time on BD, and for the first time with my new amp.
Those lightsabers are CRAZY loud!!!
The new Yoda is the best change ever!!! Love him to death!
I always thought he was to angry when he talks to Obi Wan at the end of the movie. The acting of the CGI Yoda is infinitely better!
Too bad about the DNR though.

Speaking of real art, I thought I'd go off on a tangent and post this to lighten the mood a little

I only see 1 good thing about the new poster, they did not include Jar Jar on it. Other than that it looks terrible, if George truly signed off on this poster he definitely has lost it. Even if they only included the characters/items they did it could have "looked" much better? But of all things HOW you do not include Portman is just crazy considering her star attraction right now.

Yoda - Damn I'm bored, why am I here?
R2D2- yep, just tuck him in there in the corner next to Yoda

just the name the 2 most obvious ones on this poster

Agreed. It looks so rushed and tacky.

A lot of people seem to think GL actually gives a rats arse. He does it for his own satisfaction. The fact he still makes millions from it is just a bonus. He knows that he can do what he likes and still get the profit.

A lot of fans have shoen enough hate towards evrything he does and that even extends towrads his daughter with the disgusting messages people have been sending on Twitter etc. I'm sure if a lot of people were in his shoes they would do the same.

Has anyone seen a piece of Watto's cloth disappear and skin coming through for a few seconds while talking to Qui Gon in the Podrace hangar???

Check it out!!!

Also the first wide shot of Jar Jar looks like he is walking above the sand, not on it.
The same goes for the pit droid, that kicks Jar Jar in the sweets.
Watch when Jar Jar hits the nose of the droid and it folds up.

Hehe, I noticed that one in theaters in 1999. I didn't think much of it back then but I'm not surprised it's still there.

Well, maybe it's time for you to think about it and come to conclusion, that there is maybe some reason why people are reacting that way?

I think it is just sad, that a young, idealistic, ambitious filmmaker, who rebelled against the system and changed it, has become even worse than what he fought against. Back in the 70s and early 80s, he didn't care about money. He always said that he just wanted to make movies, that people will enjoy and that money does not play any role. And now you say it like there is everything alright in his behaviour, because he gets the profit. I mean, that's an ARTIST? Are you kidding me?

You know I'm not a hater. I admire Lucas for what he has done in the past. I admire him even for the TPM, because you could see that he cared. He really cared. He wanted Jar Jar to work, it just... didn't work. But later, until today he doesn't even care a little. Recently I bought Revenge of the Sith making of book and if you only knew how little he cared about this movie... it is unbelievable. Even the good order 66 sequence was Spielberg idea.

I don't think what he's doing is right. Nearly all the new changes are completely pointless, but I have just given up caring about it all now. The arguments never end and whats done is done.

I'm just along for the ride now. Sure TPM isn't anything special. But I will still see it next year. Mostley because I get to see as many films as I lik for £14.99 a month. So I might as well go.

This is where I receive my exit papers my dear fellow Star Wars fans. Things are now moving into the coming release of Phantom Menace in 3D, something for which I have no interest. It's been fun talking about the Star Wars and the Blu-ray release with all of you. I wish you all the best of fun with the 3D release but I won't be with you for this one.

this is my last hope that something SW related bombs and Georgie Boy has to face reality and hand over the reins to someone who genuinely still loves SW, not just for the profit it brings.

If the Phallic Menace can still rake in untold millions, there is no hope. It's going to be 13 years, most of us with discerning taste know how bad this movie was so there's no excuse for it to succeed at the BO. Fingers crossed.

I think it will make good bank. At least $50 mil. There are enough people who like the PT, young and old, and there will a new group of kids to see the movie as well. All in all another likely financial victory for GL.

Now, as a 3D poster it might work because of the pods flying over Maul and Obi-Wan behind him, but the only good thing that the poster has is Palpatine on the back. It's like a 'cover' of a product. Shame.
While the TPM-3D poster is far inferior artistically compared to the original 1999 Drew Struzan work, that wasn't the "point of view" emphasized when Lucasfilm decided to create it. They were thinking about trying to increase the box-office take instead.

First off, the kiddies who actually like TPM were all born after the advent of Photoshopped collage-type movie posters; that's all they know.

Secondly, the characters chosen and their prominence in the 3D poster are based to appeal to as wide an audience of Star Wars fans as possible. I'll admit that Darth Maul was cool (but sadly under-developed), the pod-racing sequence was exciting (but a bit over-long), and I think it's a good idea to include Palpatine in the background to remind people what the titular "Phantom Menace" was. I'm not sure why Obi-Wan was included, as he didn't do too much in this movie by himself (except defeating Darth Maul). I guess it's more of a set up for "Attack of the Clones 3D" (if TPM-3D doesn't bomb too hard.) Well, whatever.

Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, is who were not included in the poster.

- Kabuki-queen Amidala was left off, as to not remind people of the entire trade dispute / Galactic C-SPAN storyline and the wooden dialog given her.

- Little Ani was left off because he was mis-cast, his dialog was awful (four words: "Are you an angel?"), and his participation in the final space battle was ridiculous. No one wants to remember the Dark Lord of the Sith saying "Yippie!".

- Jar-Jar was left off for obvious reasons. He is the very emblem representing George Lucas' decline from a film maker into a simple marketing machine. If there's a bright center to the Star Wars universe, Jar-Jar is the character that it's farthest from.

- The only exception to this rule might be Qui-Gon. He was left off, not because there was anything terribly wrong with his character, but because he was stuck mostly dealing with the movie's other poor storylines, i.e. negotiation with the Gungans, testing for midichlorians (which were perhaps the worst, most unnecessary explanation ever given of anything "Star Wars"-related) and finding/buying Anakin. Not exciting stuff. Sure, he got to fight Darth Maul, but he lost. Since he won't be appearing in the othe two 3D-prequels, why waste poster space on him?

He was a 10 year old kid in outer space for the first time in his life in the middle of a huge battle that was bigger than anything he'd ever seen in his life. What do you expect from him?

You want him to force choke someone at 10?

He was snatched from everything he'd ever known. He was exactly who he was supposed to be. You can't expect him to be an evil presence when he never was that. He wasn't the Dark Lord of the Sith then, he was a 10 year old kid, and that is the point of the whole movie. He wasn't meant to be anything but a 10 year old kid and sometimes a 10 year old kid will say Yippie!

Get over it. Seriously.
