so there have been 4 waves of the "unaltered" original trilogy on VHS (this isn't even counting CED, Laserdisc or the 2006 DVDs)

As long as you don't count the "Episode IV" as an alteration, the footage is the same. In fact, the 2006 DVD removes the "Episode IV" text

I just wish some fans would stop complaining about the blu-ray's I mean I understand some fans have a right to their opinion but seriously it's the same complaint's about the star wars saga on blu-ray , They took out too much of the film grain , hoth in ESB looks too blue , vader's lightsabers still looks pink in ESB and ROTJ and so on and so on. I've watch the saga on blu-ray and for the most part picture quality wise they look good even with the DNR problems with episode 1 TPM . Both the Original Trilogy and Prequel Trilogy look good on blu-ray. And when and if the original cut's of the OT ever comes out on blu-ray some fan's will find something to complain about that as well.

That's awesome! Now all you need is David Prowse, Bob Anderson, Jake Lloyd, and Sebastian Shaw, for it to be complete. Shaw might be a little tough though.

You're missing the most important one...
David Prowse!
I got his, I met him in SF in '07... or was it '08...

If this issue happens with other titles, then it could possibly be a problem with your sound system, not the discs.

Ummm... if you're having problems on many BDs, why would you think the problem is with Star Wars instead of your home theater setup? Especially since that set sold like pancakes and no one else is complaining about loud popping noises?

I noticed it in my surround channels on A New Hope/Empire. It wasn't "horrible" but it was noticeable. Flame War on .......

I don't know what the problem is. I don't notice it on any other new releases.

Gotta be something in your setup. Maybe not anything with the individual equipment (though possibly) but maybe a ground loop or something like that.

Trust me. It isn't my setup, ground loop or equipment....I never hear any static on any other BD played on my system.

It only happens on the OT and only from the rear channels.
