I have no problem with this release and I love Star Wars changes and all. However, over the months as I've read this forum I'm starting to see the point of having the OT unaltered on Blu-ray. As a fan I would buy that version just to be a completest and all the fence sitters would finally have the SW as they want it. It would be a huge profit maker. As I see GL 3-D'ing the saga his motivation for profit becomes clear. So....why not just release it and rake it in?
Because he can make more money by having people hope that one day they get a proper release, and in the meantime they buy whatever he puts out.

It's like coaxing a goat with a carrot. You can lead it all you want by dangling the carrot in front of the goat. But once you feed the goat the carrot, you lose the goat's attention (and in this case, the customer's wallet).

See but the problem with your analogy is that it's the one thing he hasn't released and for all intents and purposes won't release to Blu-ray.

The fans supporting Lucas that buy everything SW are not the same as all the fans who may just want the OT. He's not promising to release the OT at all so the carrot thing makes no sense. He stands to make a good deal of money by releasing it if what the members on this forum are saying is true. That being they will not buy the OT unless they get it unaltered. I'm content with what I have, but lately I've been inclined to see some of the other sides point and as a fan of SW I don't think anyone should be left out. I hope GL sees it that way one day.

As somebody who watched all of these films in the theater multiple times and enjoyed all of them equally. The only bit in the bluray set that makes me pause is the Ben Kenobi scream/dragon yell. That was just wierd.

But Darth Vader's 'NOOOOO!' did nothing to ilicit a response?

From what I read in this thread and other places on the web, the rationale a significant majority of SW fans use is:

"It's not perfect, but it's SW."

Therefore, the carrot analogy holds. People like me (or possibly you) who don't spend any money on SW-related items are a minority and an exception.

Once Lucas releases the UOT on BD, he stands to lose attention of many fans because that's all that's really keeping them interested in SW at this point.

He could make a killing off the UOT on BD, but he makes much, much more off:

- Clone Wars cartoon
- toys
- video games
- etc.

Lucas can live without the profits from putting out the UOT. He's not poor...

No, it didn't sound as wierd as that dragon yell whoop.

I don't have a problem with any of the other changes.

I felt that NOOOOO kind of killed the atmosphere of that scene. It was completely unecessary. Having him not say anything is far more effective.

Maybe, but on the other hand considering the hell his body went through prior to and becoming Vader, I think it's quite plausible he isn't going to look like a young father when his mask is removed in Jedi.

Yeah, it's just amazing what Lucasfilm can do nowadays with all its cutting-edge , state-of-the-art technology. That sort of thing simply couldn't have been done back in 1983.

Agreed, I really don't see where Lucas was coming from on that one.

He knows how much every one hated the "NOOOOOOOOOO" in Revenge Of The Sith so he decided to put it in Jedi because he thought it would be funny.

Well if that's the case, what a wonderful decision to turn the climax of the entire trilogy into a joke.

The NOOOOO in both ROTS and ROTJ does not bother me at all. It connects the 2 trilogy's together. Sure some don't like it but the change is not all that bad.

It does dove tail Anakins story quite nicely. There's also a "Nooo" in all of the films now isn't there? I can't think of them right now, but Im sure way back when this thread was thriving someone posted them all.

I know other than the two mentioned, Luke says it in Empire. Anyone remember the other three times?

There's nothing wrong with the CGI in that scene. What's wrong with that scene is the concept of that scene. The additions look like they were edited in from the Muppet Show. Especially when that "puppet" gets really close to the camera and opens its mouth, it's shot just like a Muppet show or movie. But the CGI itself is fine. I can't tell which characters are CGI and which are practical (puppets). I don't mind Lucas putting some fun and craziness into that scene, but it should have been consistent with the Star Wars universe and the mood of that scene and it wasn't. It looks like a clever fan send-up.

TPM - Obi Wan's "Noooo!" when Ras Ah Ghul is killed.
ATOC - "NOOOO!" when fans heard Lucas was writing and directing another Star Wars movie.
ROTS - Vader's "Nooooo!" when he learns Panda Bear is dead.
ANH - Luke's "Noooo!" When Obi Wan is killed by the dude with a breathing problem
ESB - Luke's "Noooo!" when he finds out the Dude with the creepy breathing thing is his dad.
ROTJ - Vader's "Noooooo!" when he found out Luke made out with his own Sister.

I can't recall where the NOOOOO is in ATOC.
