Hmm, I think you just proved his point for him. If Lucas wanted to, he could have done the 4K transfer on the SW films, like Raiders and Jaws were treated to. Then, we would be comparing oranges to oranges. But you are right in regard that you cannot compare them because one set didn't get the full restoration it deserved, which is shame.

Bingo! We have a winner! Why didn't GL take the time and do a proper 4k transfer?

You don't know the VFX is 2K? That the restored elements are 2K?

I just watched Star Wars (the original, not that New Hope crap) on widescreen VHS. It doesn't look that bad actually. I will take blurry picture and substandard sound of Han shooting first over HD Han ducking out of the way. Now on to Empire.

Why do you only have 10 BDs?

Because I was robbed. I also decided to only buy what I like and I actually dislike most movies and TV shows.

This is like listening to a Bizarro version of Nigel Tufnel say 'well this one goes to six'.

Maybe you should just say the dog ate George's homework and get it over with.

The OT has had tiny changes made to it ever since it first hit home video, the only way you will ever see it the way it was in cinemas is if you hapen upon a time machine.

Ok sounds to me you are making excuses, Why dont you answer 1 question for me? Why does Blade Runner, Close Encounter of the 3rd kind, Jaws all look better than the OT? Easy answer GL.

I think because those movies didn't have much VFX to be redone, almost all the VFX are already in the negatives. For Star Wars the negatives from 1997 don't have the new VFX of the 2004 DVD edition. They've have to re-render at 4k and re-do compositing again. Even worse if they use the original 1977 negatives (if they exist), but should he intend to only release the original theatrical version then it's easy.

So because George desecrated his films further with crappy new digital effects and the end result is a 2K digital file and no celluloid, it's not his fault that Star Wars has a half assed transfer compared to other films of similar vintage.

Of course.

No, it was the implication of a particular poster earlier on this page.

Someone might want to notify the mods that last year's posts are repeating again.
