2. In these battleship vs. battleship sequences, why don't the 'shields' work? A single laser blast is enough to tear an entire battleship in half. Shouldn't the shield be activated? Why don't they take extra precautions in light of these horrific consequences?

3. What happens if a ship flies into an energy shield? In ep. 1, laser blasts carom off an energy shield. But what happens if a ship flies into a shield?
One answer for all three questions, it's really easy....

BECAUSE ITS A DARN MOVIE AND ITS NOT REAL!!!!!!!

Star Wars also as sound in space, fire in space, thousands of troopers who can't hit anything with their blasters, people jumping 100 feet in the air (and not dying), hyperspace travel, people that can choke others just by thinking it...oh and guest what? All of these things also happen in the beloved, so perfect original movies also

Maybe the 3D version will correct it...?

I've met McDiarmid before (should be Sir Ian IMHO). Such a humble and friendly man! I spoke of his acting at Almeida Theatre and such and you could tell it was a refreshing moment for him as I wasn't bombarding him with SW questions.

Again, great guy!

Happy to hear II and III are being released back-to-back. I didn't want to wait a year between those... Bring on the OT! Never seen them in theaters. It'll be a big thing for me.
Awesome! In for 3, 50/50 on 2.

I'll probably end up picking this up later this year if it goes on sale, hopefully the price from Amazon third parties drops to about 60. I'd definitely swipe it up then.

I'm definitely on board for seeing the OT in theaters since I never got to see them.

I thought I read this earlier in the thread, but correct me if I'm wrong; Star Wars Ep 1 was playing in 2D cinemas this year? I'm not a fan of 3D at all, but I had no idea these were playing in 2D as well, or I would've gone.

Slightly off topic about the Blu-Rays but on the topic of SW.

Because I am representing the Star Wars fandom at the wedding in 2 weeks, I am constructing this after work today.

I'm a bit sad and despondent to write this. I've always considered myself a huge fan of the Star Wars franchise. I have seen the PT & OT countless times. After a recent marathon I seem to find myself questioning if my love for these films is still there or not. They did not have the same effect on me they use to. I really don't understand it. Other favorite franchises of mine such as Rocky, Rambo, Jaws, and Terminator still resonate heavily with me. But for the first time in my life this franchise just fell short. I'm even considering selling my set . . . the magic just isn't there anymore

It is at the point now when I even try and watch the OOT and the stupid CGI garbage doesn't pop up I still remember "hey this where the stupid CGI Jabba would be" and it takes me out of the film. I loved Star Wars as a kid but now the magic is gone for me also. Oh well.

Congratulations to you and best wishes to your fiancée.

All your Star Wars stuff will be on its way to the basement by the 16th. You'll need the space for that 12 seater-dining-table you'll never use....

As for your wedding cake. May the Fork Be With You....

This oddly does kinda depress me. Perhaps we should form a suppourt group lol! In all seriousness though, I really don't know when it happened but on my last visit to the franchise I had a hard time sitting through most of it. And I feel bad to admit it, but I guess time and perspective changes most everything.
