I did a search for this but ...

could someone please give their opinion on the video quality of the 3 vintage docs in the complete saga ?

I believe I read that they are SD and taken from laserdisc masters much like the original trilogy bonus dvds released in 2006

do they look better or worse than these ?

I suspect a true restoration of the original films will happen at some point, given the recent change in Lucasfilm management.
I'm still not buying these.
Not until they have gotten completely fixed.
I don't mind the majority of the FX/Story changes...
It's the "NO" at the end of Jedi, the bad/old arse transfers/remasters and the glaring FX F-Up's that are keeping me from buying this set.

It doesn't hurt that I already have the 3 Bonus Disks from the Saga Set...
I can wait patiently for a true Remaster.

LOL...
They should give these movies to CBS Digital to work on after The Next Generation is done!

The docs on the Complete Star Wars saga look ok. I guess you could say it is dvd quality. Some parts are grainy/have noise or other parts look pretty good. No idea what source they used though.

Default Did the Star Wars: The Complete Saga meet your expectations?

When rumors circulated about an ultimate Star Wars set, I think most people envisioned something a little different than what we got. The absence of the Empire of Dreams documentary and deleted scenes and extras from the Prequel Trilogy DVDs were a source of disappoint for me. And, of course, the absence of the theatrical cuts of the original trilogy was upsetting as well. I've heard other people say we should be happy with what we got: Commentaries for all films, vintage features, and deleted scenes from the original trilogy in 1080p.

I was wondering where do you stand on this. Were you happy with this release?

What bothers me most is that it will no longer be "complete" as of next year...

I still haven't bought the complete set because of the changes made to the original films. I was going to break down and buy it sometime this year, but with next year's arrival of a new sequel, there is bound to be some new release, whether it's individual releases of all of the films, or--gasp, dreaming here--a BD release of the unaltered original trilogy. I was never a huge Star Wars fan, so I'm not in dire need of all the extras, but it's just the absence of the original unaltered films that holds me back.

Will blu ray even be a format by the time these are all out?

Funny, I've been watching them all again over the past week (this time with commentaries on for Eps 4 - 6).

I've been happy with the set. I knew what I'd be getting into though; I read about all the new changes, but the added "Noooooo!" and added Ewok blinking didn't really bother me. Obi-Wan's altered dragon howl is probably the only thing I truly disagree with.

As far as the quality of the set, I think it's decent. There is room for improvement, with Eps 1 and 2 looking very DNRed, with Ep 6 having some fuzzy scenes (a source limitation that probably can't be helped anyway), for leaving out features on the DVDs and not including the unaltered versions (might never happen anyway). Otherwise, Eps 3, 4, 5, and most of 6 look phenomenal, the sound quality is insane, and there are still buttloads of extras that'll keep you busy for hours. All the new deleted scenes are especially awesome.

I even like the book-style packaging.

So, yeah, I'd say it met my expectations, but my expectations were minimal to begin with. I still have my original PT and limited edition OT DVDs, but the Blu-Ray is my new go-to edition for these movies.

The Original cast should have the original theatrical cut maybe, I really wish companies stop half assing things and just give us everything that goes with this set, go into the vault grab george lucas stuff everything and just add it for us fans and its not just with this set its practically everything anymore, everything seems like its a beta copy that doesn't have everything attached to it like there are things missing we would love to have those things.

I got the complete saga when it came out i enjoyed it just as much, just wish there was so much added to these films.

That was some really bad ADR.
They could have integrated it much better. It sounds exactly like what it is, a bad overdub. It's like a movie being shown on TV where they overdub a curse.
