My guess is they're saying the prequels are canon to not hurt Lucas' ego, but is it that hard to belive that the events of the prequels as told in the prequels will be all but forgotten in the new films? It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. Will old man Han go podracing with Sebulba. Will a new Jedi apprentice go hang out on Naboo with Boss Nass and Captain Panaka? Will there be talk of midichlorians or bringing balance to the force?

I'll agree that the events of the prequels will be largely forgotten in the scope of the sequel trilogy. Their events will be felt indirectly, as they led to the events of the Clone Wars, the fall of the Republic, the Empire, and all the events of the OT, all of which WILL impact the sequel trilogy.

However, I find the notion that Kennedy and Abrams would completely write off the prequel trilogy to be completely absurd, no offense to anyone here personally. While the public and even those involved in production likely agree that the prequels don't hold a candle to the originals, there is a large audience and fanbase for said prequels, and they were created in the canon that Lucas wanted (albeit, not originally). Abrams and Kennedy have too much respect for the franchise and for Lucas professionally and personally (especially Kennedy) to discard his work and the company's work like that, as much as OT fans and perhaps even Disney would like.

I believe Abrams already said once in an interview how he wouldn't just ignore the prequel trilogy for the sake of OT fans as there were also a lot of people who grew up with and liked the PT.

Episodes 1-3 made a collective total of $2.6 billion unadjusted and were all fresh on RT upon their release. Just want to throw that out there.

Max Von Sydow & Andy Serkis along with Hamill, Fisher & Ford.

Holy S**t!

Can anybody else see Max Von Sydow playing a Sith lord?

I think he'd make a good one.

The man plays a good anybody. He's one of the few actors out there that can literally play any type of character, period.

I'm not familiar with many of the new actors either, but then again I don't watch a lot of TV (especially not premium cable), and haven't seen LOTR. Are any of them "usuals" in Abrams projects? Or not? As a mental exercise, I've been pondering which Whedon "usuals" might have gotten into the new movies, had he been asked to helm, so I'm curious if Abrams went with anyone he's particularly familiar with.

I love how people can authoritatively report on and read the minds of others they don't know in meetings they weren't at.

It's much more fun to post snarky comments about actors with questionable talent. And besides, there was no way I was going to let you one-up me with your meme.

Oops, yeah, I was. That was supposed to be for HD Goofnut, he's the one who posted the meme/gif and quoted my previous post, I was commenting on his taste in films because of it. Whatever.
