Cool, I love Star Wars (and Ewok Adventures), but have never really gotten into Clone Wars. I love the animation. I just wish the Stars Trilogies where available on Blu ray right now. Would love to get them for Xmas.

I agree I don't get why people don't like the the prequels and for me aside from episode 1 , I thought episodes 2 and 3 where good star wars films with episode 3 being the best of the prequel films.

I'm not surprised that people don't like the prequels but I have been surprised to see how many prequel fans think AotC is the weak link. I thought it was decent enough the first time through and it's been the only one of the prequels that's gotten better with repeat viewings.

But none the less, this is a case of "playing the odds." Let's look at what we do know: *Most movies are released on Tuesdays. *Every Star Wars DVD release so far has been released on a Tuesday (including all of the individual prequel releases, the original 2004 4-disc DVD Trilogy release, the 2005 3-disc Trilogy release which omitted the 2004 set's bonus disc, the 2006 individual release of the OT films with the "original version" bonus discs, and the PT and OT Trilogy sets that come in 'digi-pack' packaging). Why should we, at this time, assume that the Blu-Ray release will be any different? *No official release date has been given for the Star Wars Blu-Ray set. If an official release date was decided on, we would likely know about it now and an official announcement would have been made. *Gamestop is well known for frequently having inaccurate release dates that they basically estimate and make up way far out in advance of the release of a video game (especially when no official date has specifically been announced). Why should we assume differently of the same company's movie store? *The innaccurate dates that Gamestop is known for (for the sake of having a date in the system) often fall right at the beginning and end of the month (i.e. October 1st, October 15th, etc). This isn't a 100% absolute rule, but it tends to be the common trend. *And again, while this isn't a 100% rule, the few exceptions to Tuesday movie release dates tend to be movies that appeal to a younger audience. The Twilight films tend to have a tween/teen audience. Some animated films (I think Kung Fu Panda may have been one case) have been released that way. While Star Wars certainly has younger fans, it's fan base tends to be all over the age spectrum. So, if we are going by general trends, Star Wars doesn't quite fit the bill for the kind of movie to break the common rule. Is it possible that SW may break the Tuesday rule and come out on a weekend?.. specifically Obtober 1st? Sure... it is possible. But I wouldn't hold my breath on it, or bet my last dollar on it. And considering the established unreliability of the source when it comes to things this far out in advance, I wouldn't put any stock on it at this point. Until some other separate source corborates that date, or until an official annoucnement is made, it's wise to not get too excited about this. Besides, I don't see why anyone would want to preorder it this far out in advance with so much yet unknown. Odds are there will be other places to get the movies for a better price than at Moviestop, and there could poentially be some cool retailer exclusives. And there will still be plenty of time to preorder and lock in a copy from some retailer or another after more info is known but before the movies actually come out to lock in and guarantee a set. |

1: Sales figures come out on Mondays. This gives the studios an entire week of sales to count/quote or do whatever they like with. 2: If a particular title sells well, a Tuesday release gives retailers enough time to restock for the weekend. Another thing to take into consideration is that sales weeks run from Sunday to Saturday. Since many retailers put brand new discs on sale their first week of release, this completely does away with a new title being discounted for half of it's first weekend in release. I'm not sure if this is considered good or bad though. In one way, if a title is going to sell, it's going to sell with a $5 discount or not. In that way, retailers may look at it as a good thing, since they'll get full price for one weekend day. On the other hand, some consumers may not buy at full-price... Then again, since a title won't be on-sale on a Sunday, it may drive up Saturday's sales? Last edited by OG Pooh; 12-15-2010 at 12:10 AM. |

Who else thinks The Star Wars Saga on BD will get officially announced sometime mid May next year?
Of course, I'd much rather get them in May, but as we all know that's not going to happen. I'd like to get really surprised with ultimate editions. However, I don't think they are going to be Reference quality discs all the way, as ANH was shot on a low budget with very limited technology, and you can only do so much to improve PQ without introducing EE or nasty DNR. Also, the soundtrack of ANH is not going to sound that great I guess. The other films should fare much better, and I think ROTS will look and sound perfect! ![]() ![]() How about you?
