The "non-specialized" versions are said to the answer though. I have not checked them out, but would love to see the 720p versions.
The De-Specialized is where it is at for now. The Version 2.5 of the original Star Wars looks fantastic and has tons of audio options. So far, there's only Version 1.0 for Empire and Jedi. They look very good and in many cases better than the Blu-rays, but not as great as Episode IV does.

Yep, and v2.0 of EMPIRE is about to come out very, very soon. From what I've seen, it looks just as good as v2.5 of STAR WARS (Harmy has used a lot of 35mm material to fix stuff this time around).

Despecialized is the ONLY way to watch them.

You forgot "in my opinion".

The rest of us have a choice.

You also forgot to mention the Despecialized discs are illegal.

They're in a gray area of fair use. Generally, as long as you own the source material legally (like the blu-rays if you download the Harmy HD versions) and don't sell it for profit, it's not an issue. Case in point - George Lucas has known about the Star Wars fan edits for years and does nothing.

So the copies that were given to the national film registry are illegal? The only copies that they would accept...someone call a cop the National Film Registry has illegal copies of the film! Darn those guys

Jedi Rocks should be illegal as it is a crime against humanity and all that is good in the world.

As well as creepy Hayden at the end of Jedi...whomever decided that should be in jail. I wish we could go back to 1996 and put GL in carbonite!

Can't decide if Jedi Rocks is the worst change , Hayden replacing Shaw
or Jabba in ANH
( Jabba's reveal in ROTJ was great back in 1983 )

Nevertheless these 3 are the Most offensive to me

I would love the Gout to be released on Blu-ray
but
knowing me , like I do, I would buy any version of Star Wars restored in 4K

Nope. i didn't.

And here's me officially saying I don't give a shit. Feel free to report me. George has shit all over the fans for years. He might as well start arresting those that hate his ORIGINAL VERSIONS of the films.

Should the next release also not include the original versions, I won't be buying those either.

I understand how you feel, but in this case, it's not a "George" thing, but a blu-ray.com thing. It a rule not to post about illegal downloading/copying because if one person does, others will do it, pretty soon it will pop up in every thread. Obviously with this site's close ties to studio reps, they will nip that stuff in the bud right away.

George Lucas has released his preferred versions of the films, because ultimately, he's the artist in this case and he has every right to release his preferred version of his films. Shitting all over the fans would be shortchanging his own artistic integrity by releasing a piece of art that he's no longer satisfied with. You have no say in the matter, other than deciding to buy or not buy a copy of the art available. This childish entitled attitude most fans have is sickening.

I've never understood this argument, but it seems to be the one people have been making for what, 15 year now?

George Lucas didn't direct episodes 5 and 6. He is basically the studio that owns the rights to them. So what he is doing is no different to, say, Ted Turner colorizing Casablanca. And wasn't that something that outraged George Lucas?

You are 100% right. It really annoys me when people claim Lucas is the "artist" of these movies. No he's not. He's the artist of a new hope, and only the producer and financier on the rest of the OT movies. This is the equivalent of Universal recutting American Graffiti without Lucas's consent cause they financed it. I'm sure Lucas would not be ok with that
