I'll make it real simple, one sentence for you:

What folks are saying is that *IF* they are going ahead to make these changes, don't do them half-assed, *do it right* and don't make more issues because the changes made made no sense whatsoever where there wasn't a problem to begin with.

I haven't made it an iota of the career some Entitled Fans have done with over a decades worth of venom spewing.
After said decades worth of venom spewing, signals tend to get crossed, so I just like to make sure I know what Entitled Fan wants this time around.

Dislike me all you want, throw some of that Lucas venom at me all you want(well assuming you still have any left, that is), if it makes you happy. But I don't need to get Entitled Fan going...that's been happening for well over a decade, and I'm sure when Episode VII is release(maybe even before for those with no consideration of the law), the venom spewing will be back in full force.

Sorry if you don't like the fact that I'm quite happy with my existing Star Wars dvds and BDs, and that I'm very optimistic about the upcoming release of Episode VII. Just like I've had to deal with venom spewing Entitled Fan for over a decade, you'll just have to hear my constant praise as a very Content Fan.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again:
George Lucas has given me SO much more, than he's taken away.

I don't really understand why we're still arguing over the alterations. I thought we already agreed that the fact that Lucas changed the films isn't the problem, it's the fact that he's not giving us a choice on the matter, that's the problem.

But I guess some people missed that part.

I have to admit, I did miss the part where everybody in the world decided to get on the same page about Star Wars.

I should check my spam folder.

Same. All I want is GOUT, and once I have it, I doubt I'll watch it any more than any other set of films in my collection.

I'm excited for Episode VII, but less so than I was for the prequels (before I got to take that bitter taste in. *blech*).

As fans, we never should have begged for the prequels to be made. Jedi was a fun ending to the series, but little did we know that some of it's silliness was actually the Lucas well running dry.

This made me laugh. Thanks "Elvis. I liked you better thin. I really wonder where some of you find this stuff. He released it year after year early on because there was no home video format that had a following yet. What the hell do you think they used to do before? After '83 there wasn't a rerelease till the SE in 1997. And there were multiple VHS and Betamax releases. You know there was no home video before the 80's right? It was a niche market with dupes of film reels that were shown on a projector...
At home. Not many people outside of theatres had the means. How old are you....four?

Actually, I think he bought into the idea of SW as a "modern day myth," that was perpetuated by both fans and Hollywood. I think that's what really got his ego, but alas, I'm not a personal friend of his so I really can't say for sure.

I'm with Rickah on this one. These entitled Star Wars fans seem to enjoy complaining and talking down to others who are happy with the Special Editions of the originals as well as the prequels.

I commend Rickah for being able to deal calmly with the people on here that can't stop bullying him so that he may change his mind. I'm disgusted by the immaturity of people on here as well as those with a superiority complex because they think only wanting the theatricals somehow makes you a better person. Rickah has had more venom sprayed at him by entitled fans and Lucas haters than Dennis Nedry in Jurassic Park from the Dilophosaurus. Hopefully the mods step in and stop this harassment.

I said in the Scanners thread that the creator's intent is what I want to see for all films, since it is their art and it should be shown as how they want it to be. The Special Editions are what Lucas wants and he should not be obligated to release flawed and inferior early drafts of his work.

As I suspected, you ignored the simple statement I made and then went off on a tangent that had nothing to do with what I said, simply using it as a jumping off point for your bully rage disguised with smiley faces. As it your style.

Since it's OK to used loaded language to belittle folks, apparently, I guess we should just refer to the above type of poster as an Apologist and Troll, as his behavior (taking statements out of context, reposting them in such a way as to incite folks when he full well knows he is mis-characterizing what is being said) has repeatedly demonstrated itself throughout this entire thread.

Not that I will be referring to him at all, LOL, as he has met with my ignore list because an Apologist who trolls threads constantly, wasting time going on about other folks wasting time, is simply...a waste of time.

I'm the one inciting the Lucas hating Entitled Fanbase? Why, because I'm happy with what I've got? Again, sorry if that irks you, but not everyone is on the "Hate Lucas or Bust" bandwagon. I don't think Entitled Fan needs me to be mad, as most Entitled Fans have shown their rage quite enough over the last decade.
Again, sorry if you don't like the fact that I, firmly, believe Lucas has given me far more than he's taken away. For that I'll always be grateful.

Edit: I ought to make a bumper sticker of that...I quite confident it would go over much better than *ahem* redbutton's bumpersticker!

What Lucas wants is no longer relevant. They're not his movies anymore.

Look, if you use this rationale then no directors movies are "his" or "hers", they're the studios. Stop being so obtuse.

Beyond that simple logic, there's also the distinct possibility that Lucas put it in his contract with Disney that they can only release his preferred versions. It's hilarious that you guys think the Disney deal was just cut and dry "Here's $4 billion, enjoy your Star Wars."

Correct!
I can only wonder how long it takes for the venom to be thrown Disney's way IF they don't comply and release the originals. I've already got my popcorn ready for that debacle if it mainfests itself.

I am currently watching the Bonus disc 1 of the BD set again, and it's just amazing. I love it, and the fact that you can choose to play all, or all of certain sections, and it remembers where you left off, is just fantastic.
It perfectly demonstrates how much artistry there is in these brilliant movies.
I love this set.

Now you can go back to bi%ching.

Have the last 20 something pages really been mainly people b****ing at each other over things that have been argued to death millions of times already?

Look we're all fans of the franchise.

Sure some of us prefer certain versions of the films to other versions that other people prefer but so what it's all Star Wars at the end of the day.

Let's try and be more civilized as all this bickering is giving the fanbase a bad name.

They deserve whatever they get if they don't release the Original Original Trilogy. Just like they do every time they release an edited version of Fantasia. They put out product and if they expect our money then they need to expect complaints when it isn't what we want. It is called capitalism. We don't have to buy what they give us but we also have a right to complain.

I doubt Disney would have bought films they can do nothing with. They've made a lot of money by restoring and releasing classics. Star Wars will be no different. Sure, there would have been stipulations in the sale and releasing the theatricals will be small potatoes compared to Episode VII but these movies will be restored to their former glory at some point.

That's exactly right. If directors don't own their movies then the movies don't belong to them.

I said that when filmmakers were lobbying Congress during the Great Colorization Overreaction of '86 and I'm still saying it today.

What Lucas is or is not obligated to do is no longer relevant.

Yes, I'm sure Disney gave Lucas four billion dollars and let him retain control of 'his' movies.

That seems much more likely than 'here's four billion dollars, they're ours now'.

Of course anyone has a right to complain...within reason. The biggest complaint one can, possibly, make is not purchasing.

I really hope Disney does, because I really don't want to listen to another decade's worth of "Disney destroyed my childhood" nonsense. I cringe at the thought of wacky Entitled Fan banning everything Disney from his home/family because this person can't get the original films on BD.

For the time being I'll be enjoying the heck out of my BD set and taking in all the great twitter/FB/social interweb stuff coming from Camp JJ. It's been a treat to watch so far.
