That's love.
Well I had an extreme fear of the ship blowing up for whatever reason at the beginning I believe for no reason at all (I think it has been a while). Then I was freaked out by the race through the city with Zam. Then he didn't think the make out sesh with Padme and Anakin was appropriate (or a kiss I don't even know). Also the scene on Tatooine. Needless to say I have been sheltered and am 16 and am still to afraid to watch Alien.

I'm guessing the Mustafar duel in Revenge of the Sith is off limits until you're 18? That one also has icky childbirth in it so watch out...

Lol no. I have seen RotS uncut many times. I can watch whatever I want now. Being the second child I could watch whatever my sister watched. She is four years older than me. She saw her first R rated film at 13...I was 9.

Again, Hasbro confirmed this at SDCC this weekend. We are going to see the last trickles out, but then - within the next 6 - 9 months - that will be it, for at least a long while.

Sideshow has certainly been pushing those Clone Troopers they put out - if you notice, one right on top of the other. Same deal. They are reusing those sculpts as much as they can while they can. I'm sure as a collector you also noticed that Hot Toys has just got the 1/6 Star Wars license (thank heavens) - they are going to be handling the bulk of things from now on, and you won't be seeing any PT/EU product out of them.

The real money is in OT merchandising, where folks really spend thousands of dollars a year each in a lot of cases. Disney has shown in all areas as a company that they in general are more than willing to cater to the "whales" in a lot of ways.

If Disney thought the PT stuff was popular enough, they would not be dumping it like a hot potato. Hasbro is just one example, there are many companies that work with Disney that have been told the same thing. They aren't retconing them out, but they are just not a factor in the new Star Wars story they are telling.
Or they've been told to focus on the timeline that's about to get a direct sequel trilogy starring a portion of the same cast? Could be that. There will always be some PT stuff produced, just like there was always some OT stuff produced during the last 15 years, even if the overall focus was on the PT and Clone Wars. Stop trivializing facts to fit your own agenda. All of the PT stuff were huge sellers.

Yeah, this is the most tiring thread in the galaxy,.....by far!

I've recently watched the entire bonus disc 1 again, and it's simply amazing what they put together.

Also, yesterday, I watched TPM with the 2nd commentary again, and it's just terrific, and I have to say that I am moving my rating from 3,5/5 to 4/5, because it's still a really nice transfer, and by far the best we have seen of it outside of the cinema. Only some DNR is holding it back from shining like a star. the sound is brilliant and extremely dynamic, and the VFX are still revolutionary. Most people will never understand how incredible the technological advances were on that film, as they care about the Academy Awards, which couldn't be more worthless.
It's a stunning achievement in every way.

If, than only because you guys are so out of this world annoying that we don't even want you to be happy, since that's impossible anyways, when it comes to SW at least.
All you spread is constant negativity, when there is so much to like and praise here.
I am not opposed to critical voices at all, and I wouldn't mind a release of the UOT, but many of you UOT fanboys are a billion times worse than Anakin/Vader in terms of whining, etc.. We get it, you want to the UOT.
It won't change anything if you come here to bit$h and moan, other than annoying all the fans of the set.
It's off topic, and there ARE separate threads for the UOT, so please go there, which I know you won't.

I don't get the hate towards the people who enjoy the prequels. You can hate the films themselves but I don't get the logic or lack of logic behind attacking someone for their opinions.

And no we don't all think that all critics are child molesters because they didn't like the prequels as someone above immaturely suggested. I guess that saying things like this are acceptable but as soon as you say you enjoy the prequels you are suddenly name calling and looking down on people?

Of course they like the OT more because YOU like the OT more. There is nothing wrong with liking the PT and I really wish people would get past their hate to see that the PT is what brought many a new fans and a new generation of SW fans into the universe. I don't like everything that was done for the PT or the OT, but that doesn't change my overall feelings about the entire franchise at all.

Memories definitely have a LOT to do with how people perceive these films ...

Then there is the obvious fact that the PT just are not good films. The third film is 'ok' I guess. The acting in them is horrendous ... The CG is sickeningly overused, boring and ridiculous ... EPIV and V were fantasies that had a grounded sense of reality and physicality ... The PT lost all of that and because of that I believe they lost a huge connection to the viewer. They are filled with a political plot that no one really cares about ... I could go on and on and on and on ...

The PT is so bad I would not be surprised if it hit 'so bad it good status'

One thing I'd like to do is a poll on people that love the Hobbit films vs the PT ... Probably the same crowd. Viewers that, in general, have no attention span and prefer CG eye candy to good acting and great direction and fantastic story telling.

To each their own I guess... In then end it's ALL subjective ... But we all have our opinion ... That no one cares about but ourselves .... Hahahaha.

After getting my new TV I got to watch them and yeah I felt like the quality of the image was even better.

I miss the old talk about Star Wars but the post just get lost in a sea of "I WANT THE OT THE PT SUCK" and "BE QUIET WE HEARD YOU AND THE PT DONT SUCK". Just get really frustrating after a while. I am thinking just for the sake of being part of this thread again to use the ignore feature for the first time and just block most of the post.

But you never answered my question about the National Film Registry. Am I right? The PT will never be invited and why is that? And it's not a minor number. How do you even come up with that? There are whole sites with thousands upon thousands of members dedicated to nothing but the UOT. There ae sites dedicated to nothing working on illegal copies etc....how can you sit there and say it's a small minority when you know that's a lie. I know for a fact that a major announcement of an UOT release would outsell the current set hands down.

An UOT would sell like crazy. But you know nothing for a fact. And that day ... Sadly ... Will probably never come. At least we have Harmy.

Obviously there is no way to prove fanbase numbers either way, but logic dictates that Entitled fanbase is, most likely, shrinking(age, fans grow up and don't care as much any more, etc) as we move further away, while Content fanbase is, most likely, growing(much younger fans that grew up with the PT, Ep.7 might be first foray into SW, etc).
So, as you say, there might be "thousands" of Entitled fans manning the battle stations, I'm quite positive there are millions of Content fans enjoying what they have.
Now I'm not a big numbers person, but that seems pretty lopsided.
IF the UOT is released, and that's still a very big IF at this point, you'll have that many more Entitled fans give up the cause, and abandon their battle stations. So the war will be reduced to a few roving guerilla squads roaming the wasteland still ranting/raving about Jar Jar Binks...but hey, we all have our mission in life, I suppose.

BTW, last I heard you were going to scan through the entire thread to find a bunch of people that don't want the UOT released. What did your search results yield?

Yeah, but sadly the die hard fans treat the PT newcomers with the sort of disdain that old-time fans of bands usually do: "you weren't there at the beginning man, you came later when it got all commercial and they sold out!!".

We're all supporting the same thing - Star Wars - yet the OT zealots are absolutely determined to score points at every possible juncture by slating the PT and everyone involved in it, even going so far as to claim that fans of the whole franchise want to suppress the UOT! It's starting to sound like outright paranoia, it's remarkable. As I said before, I treat the films objectively, I call out the good and bad in ALL of them, instead of feeding an anti-Lucas psychopathy by twisting every single event to fit that agenda.

Ernest is spot on about the merchandise being wound down for the other iterations of Star Wars. Christ, they've just deleted the entire EU so that they can focus on one thing: the new movie. Of COURSE they're gonna focus solely on Ep VII and the related characters with the upcoming merch!

Why don't you spend your time on in those forums then, where they are appropriate?
This is about the current BD release, and not what it is not.
There even are UOT threads right on Blu-ray.com, but some of you decide to spam this thread instead. It's not doing anyone any favors.

You (and some of the other Lucas sycophants) just want to purge the thread of dissenting voices. Nice try, though.

If you want a Jar-Jar lovefest without any critical thought whatsoever, you might be better served here.

Don't threadcrap. In other words don't go into a thread about golfing and post "golf sucks" etc. It's unconstructive and it insults people who like golf.

The entitled fans who come in here and spam about how bad the prequels and special editions are are breaking this rule. The theatrical cuts aren't part of this set and they're bringing nothing new to the table in terms of arguments since they got old over a decade ago. I also find it odd that these people seem to hate the special editions and prequels yet most of them own the complete saga or the trilogy sets on Blu-ray. Why support something you seem to hate so much?

Perhaps you should go back and re-read. A few members of the Entitled fanbase seem to think Content fans shouldn't post.

Why support something you seem to hate so much?
This "entitled" meme you PT fanboys started is ridiculous. Almost as ridiculous as one of your counterparts capitalizing every third word (e.g. "Creator"), but bad nonetheless. I mean, how dare people ask that the versions of the Star Wars Trilogy that were extant for the first 20 years of the franchise at the peak of its popularity be made available on a modern video format? It's hard to be "content" when film history is actively disfigured by the hands of a man whose talents have been on a terminal decline since 1984...

Regarding buying this set: If you can name another legal way to get The Empire Strikes Back: SPFX and Classic Creatures: The Return of the Jedi without paying over $50 apiece for the Japanese laserdiscs, that would be news to me. The contents of Discs 8 & 9 were the only selling points from my point of view, and only when the UK set was on sale for only $60 did I buy it. Still use my LD player with the 1995 THX releases to actually watch the films, though.
