Don't forget that, according to StarWars.com (http://www.starwars.com/movies/saga/...e3d/index.html), we won't see any of the films in theater's until 2012. Although they do say "expected... in 2012," perhaps that's their ambiguous way of saying it could be released earlier.

For now, I'd stick with "indefinentnj's" post regarding the set.

Default Regarding rumors

I really hope it's true guys to me i think that the OT might not be included but who knows?
As far as the 3d releases i doubt it will start this summer i think that the panasonic booth will be used to show of the marketing trailer and i think they obviously will promote the 3d releases probably they will say that by comicon they will have some solid release info for the 3d versions.
I think they might try to package the set with the some newer panasonic tv
I have a strong feeling that the rumor is true.
We will have to wait and see tomorrow.
I mean honestly i don't think they would go to all the trouble of having Vader there if it was not something amazing.

Sounds great!

The announcement will start with the trademark breathing and then the stormtroopers will come out and then Vader will come out they will try to make it look like ANH when he first appears.

They will show off the actual blu ray quality of the movies in the teaser at the end of the teaser it will reveal the release date after that one of the stormtroopers will hand Vader the actual blu ray sets and he will then show them to the press he will give details and price.

There will be ALOT of press at this event cameras flashing all over the place.
Now, this is getting me VERY excited!!!!!!!!

I cannot wait for an a kick a$$ teaser trailer for the BDs!!

I think this is what's going to be announced.

Anyways, your description sounds very detailed.
Are you somehow involved???

The forums may crash tomorrow with people flooding the server as they try to find out what the announcement is, fully expect StarWars.com to be down most of the day.

The only things they could change are some of the lightsaber colors in ANH, which have a turquoise tint to them, and some shots are a tad too dark, but other than that they looks awesome.

If the SE looks as crisp and detailed as the photos there, I cannot wait to experience the full power of this, ah, I meant, the Blu-ray discs THIS year!!!!

I, for one, won't watch them until the BD release.

I couldn't even if I wanted too.
DVDs just don't cut it, and these movies deserve golden BD treatment!!!!!!

Gosh, I am giddy like a little school boy!!!!!

I really really hope for the OOT. I dream of a set like Blade Runner for each of the films. I know that won't happen, but it would be great to see each version get represented on BD.

Having the original trilogy as it was released initially in theaters represented in full HD is important. These classics deserve to be preserved in the home video library. Having them in the vaults not being seen is worthless in my opinion.

That was what made the Blade Runner BD so special. You may never watch all 5 versions, but having them there makes the set a monument to the production of the film and to the power of editing.

They are available for your home video library. VHS, Laserdisc, and DVD versions are out there.

You can even still buy the DVD copies with the original theatrical versions on them. So no biggie.

I've always been pretty impressed by how well the dvd sets upscale. That obviously won't compare to a full-blown BD release but it really does speak well of the job they did last time around.

Content quarrels aside it was most definitely a high-quality product.

Seen that iamge before, but if that's what's sent to the press then it should confirm that the announcement will definitely have something to do with the blu-ray release.

Star Wars: The Complete Saga

It's generic but that's an awesome boxset title!

Well, then why would you buy any bluray if the DVD copies are available?

This is seriously your argument?

Relax everybody. Patience anyone?

Thursday - 11:30pst, (1:30est) - We'll all have the news shortly thereafter. IF the above rumored price-point of $80-90 is correct, that's much Less than I thought it'd be to be honest. I thought Each movie would be 2-discs worth; One for the film, one for the "extras." George will make another Billion either way when they come out & then with the 3D releases next year.

The complaint was that they should be available for people. They are available.

They may not be presented as you desire. But they're available for those who want them.

$80-$90 seems about right frankly.

Since Lucas knows they'll sell like hot cakes. And he'll likely make even more with a lower price point.

Outside of a few examples like the Alien set most 3 movie sets, like BTTF, run around $40-$50.

So a 6 movie set like the Star Wars Saga for $80-$90 seems to make sense for the most part. We'll see.

Nonsense. 4 of the Star Wars movies were shot on 35mm film just like 99% of every commercially released motion picture ever made. The last 2 were were shot with digital cameras which are already obsolete.

With a proper photochemical clean-up and digital scan, the 4 movies shot on film would kick the digitally shot movies in the ass, special edition or no special edition.

Don't believe the fraudulent Lucasfilm marketing drivel about the original versions being unsalveagable. There is no way the original negatives for these films are in anything less than excellent shape. Besides, there are extant film elements (internegatives, not just release prints) in film vaults all over the damn world, not to mention what exists in the hands of private collectors.

I still remember the restoration special feature on the first home video release of the special edition. I couldn't believe they had the gall to present such outright fraudulent information to the public....there was a side by side demo of an aged film element that was going pink and the new "restored" version. Like all that's left of Star Wars are vinegarized film elements. Yeah, riiiight. What a crock of shit.
