Digital tablets (and related) are screwing up some people's sleep cycles due the emission of light if you're reading closer to bedtime.

We were getting into Clone Wars when I got really upset for some reason & made this decision for them not to even get too deep into the rabbit hole. I was watching the trailer for "Ep 7" a couple of weeks ago & he ran over when he heard the music at the end. I felt bad because there is no way I'm gonna let them watch the OT & I'm not even on the side of "Lucus raped my childhood", but other than the special effects, there's just no reason for the changes that he made. I know there are ways to get the original versions, but don't know if I want to go that route, but I've considered it countless times, just so I can introduce the OT to them. I regret buying the complete saga & will echo the hopes of many of fans that Disney will reissue what was originally shown in theaters.
That is a shame. Why not let your kids enjoy the Clone Wars, the PT, or the SEs? I remember when I was young and the SEs came out. I thought they were so cool because it was new Star Wars stuff! They're just movies at the end of the day. No matter your opinions on the various installments, I'm sure that enthralling children is a better use for Star Wars than upsetting adults.

Agreed. Denying something your children enjoy for no other reason than because you deem it lesser is childish in itself.

I'm sure your parents hated things you hold dear from your childhood too. How'd you like them to decide for you what you should like.

If I had chldren, I wouldn't show them the special editions first.
I would show them the originals first, and then after some time the special editions, and they could decide what they like.

You know, thinking back I'm pretty sure my parents did decide what my brother and sisters and I could watch when we were little.

They used to spank us too. And it never even got on the news.

It was crazy back then.

Star Wars (all 6) are kid movies.
There really is nothing wrng with showing them any version of any of them (except the Blu-Ray versions )

Kids can barely sit through a 2-hour movie, let alone a 3-hour one!

I was always wondering, why animation films were short.
Well, observing kids now as a grown-up, I found out why!

You don't live until you do that!
Also, I was a kid, collectibility (sp) didn't matter then.

Maybe I shouldn't tell you what issue it was...

I honestly forgot about those. I just went to ebay & jeez. I'm sure I can find a set at a reasonable price though.

lol, this is the reason I've been in this thread a million times, but that was my 1st post. While I am upset about the changes, especially character introduction in "A New Hope" it isn't like I said, "NO STAR WARS EVER!!" We haven't watched the Clone Wars is because they didn't air in order & we haven't watched the ep 1 & 2 yet. I do plan to watch it with them, I even have a list of the chronological order of the episodes. I'll admit that I am being childish for not watching the OT because of my issues with the movies, if I owned the unaltered DVDs this probably wouldn't be an issue.

My kids still enjoy Star Wars. Like I said they enjoy Rebels & my daughter enjoys TFU. I got my son this set for Christmas & she is anticipating Disney Infinity Star Wars later this year & when my son unlocked the light saber in Disney Infinity, she freaked out.

Annnnd, I originally thought it was best to introduce the movies to them in order of how they were made. Then the Clone Wars came out & I thought that would be best to introduce them to Star Wars (small doses), then we stopped watching when I realized they wasn't airing in order because they were getting lost & even I couldn't explain a lot of it (part of the reason I hated it) So I told them I'd get the seasons when it ended so we could watch it in order. We got the series & the questions about certain characters started &
A. I don't want to just tell them
B. there's stuff I forgot.

They can get the answers from the OT & Ep 1. Which brings us back to "I don't want to watch them to see the new OT". In my mind, it all makes sense. Yea, the main reason they haven't watched the OT is for the changes, but the other reasons made sense to me. But now that I'm typing them out...

With all that said, we were probably gonna watch everything before "ep 7" is released anyway.

As far as my parents hating things, Garbage Pail Kids, I probably had the whole collection & my mother was so grossed out by them she threw them out & my pops just watched. I wouldn't go as far as that because I remember that feeling. I don't think this even compares. My daughter (11) says she understands my reasons, my son (6) is preoccupied with Pokemon (didn't know that was still a thing) & Skylanders.
