Funny thing is though, the movie finally starts to come alive for me when Kylo takes his helmet off, I loved it that we saw the man under the mask and realised that he wasn't an outwardly-scarred monster like Vader was, but just a kid smashing shit up when he gets angry. THAT I liked.

Yeah I get that that was the point, it just made him less intimidating. Kylo Ren with the mask is genuinely scary. Kylo Ren without the mask is the kid that hangs out with a bad crowd at school ("You can't tell me who to hang out with, Mom and Dad. I'm 16, I can do what I want!").

I didn't find him scary at all with the mask, I must say. But when the mask comes off it makes him so much more interesting to me because it immediately humanises him, whiny little biatch that he may be (like Grandfather, like Grandson ).

I'm one of the biggest SW apologists here, and I can admit I wasn't initially thrilled with Driver when I first saw VII, but have come around a bit with subsequent viewings. Now to the point where I like him in the role.

Rey is Canon listed as 19 in TFA. Kenobi died like 15 years before she was born.

Obi-Wan is Snoke and Rey's father. He guided Luke to turn Vader against the Emperor so that he could come back in Snoke's body and rule. Then made love to Rey's mother, poorly.

When Obi-Wan became one with the Force his midichlorians traveled across time and space and got Rey's mother pregnant! Done, done, and DONE!

Oh and Leia is Rey's mother because she got pregnant from Obi-Wan's midichlorians and she left for awhile rather than try to explain to Han what was going on (because he would have assumed he was having an affair!). Then much as had been done with Luke she left her on a distant desert planet (or maybe Obi-Wan told her to) until the time was right to start her training. She was kept in the care of Lor San Tekka but at some point he lost her or she was taken, or she was purposely left to fend for herself and make her own way while still being watched over. Leia sent Poe Dameron to get her under the guise of a mission to retrieve the map to Luke Skywalker but Kylo Ren arrived before the plan could be fully completed, much as had happened when Vader intercepted Leia before she could deliver the Death Star Plans to Kenobi. (The original plan was that when Leia was in dire need she would find Kenobi and he would start her training as a Jedi, maybe her and Luke simultaneously).

So again due to the actions of a Dark Side agent a young person's path to become a Jedi was drastically altered. Pray it's not altered any further.

While her parents may not be in EP VIII, I dearly hope that we get SOMETHING about her heritage in the film. Maybe Salacious Crumb is her daddy?
