Die Hard 5 makes Crystal Skull look like Raiders.

Yeah, there was definitely something "off" about it-- the last time I watched the film I noted that it lacked the grit of the other movies. It was a combination of the cinematography, the CGI "touch-ups" in certain sequences, and a major toning down of violence. The other movies were much more visceral, and had people getting shot, chopped up by propellers, squished by tanks, etc. Crystal Skull felt very sanitized by comparison. There was the bit with the flames burning the soldiers and the guy who gets dragged into that ant-hole, but those moments came off a bit too CGI cartoony.

I actually don't hate the movie, and still think a bit higher of it than the Star Wars prequels, because it still has some of that Spielberg directing flair and moments throughout the film I enjoy, but a lot of it definitely didn't work. I'd still like to see another one, in the hopes that they realize what went wrong on that one and come up with something much better.

A couple years ago I bought a DVD boxset of the first three Indiana Jones movies even though I could've gotten the 4th one in a different set for cheaper because I just wanted the first three.

A true fan would learn to accept a movie's existence and not incessantly whine about it for years.

Call me a hater IDC.

I've watched TFA probably 10+ times in theater + STARZ.

I enjoyed it because I enjoy all SW movies. But it was a Greatest Hits of the Star Wars fan's liked before they said Lucas ruined everything. Lip service, recycled stuff (not Star Wars poetry but blatantly ripped). Funny how Disney wanted to get away from Lucas' stench on SW so bad they ended up re-using a lot of his ideas.... just from the movies he already made.

That said, I have loved all 8 movies so far.

To be fair, Spielberg's last great movie was Schindler's List....in 1994, and his last great action/adventure flick was 93'.

Please forgive my ignorance...Which BR set has either I-VI or just IV-VI with original, untouched CGI? I don't have any copies of SW and want to watch them as originally intended.

Ok. So is it safe to assume all BR's currently released have updated CG (ie. Yoda)?

The 2006 double packs have the original theatrical as extra discs.

However from what I understand if you download de specialized editions they are better quality as the editions released in 2006 are basically the same as the 1993 definitive collection laserdiscs.

For Phantom Manace everything newer than laserdisc has the CGI Yoda. But no one misses the original in that scenario.

To be fair, Saving Private Ryan, A.I., Minority Report, Catch Me If You Can, Munich, War Horse, Lincoln, and The BFG are oustanding, and Adventures of TinTin is a great adventure film -- beautifully staged and directed and a lot of fun.
