Can someone link the Yoda "you will be" tune before and after?

The caps also don't show the chronic aliasing due to the very low resolution, the severe temporal artefacts caused by the DNR that they used on those LD transfer and so on.

You can still make out jaggies and compression snafus, though. The Luke/Vader lightsaber cap from Empire is a mess. The colors on the caps look good, though. I don't know how 100% accurate they are, but they look better than the BD.

That's basically what it is. Looking at it natively in 640 x 480 SD doesn't look too bad albeit small. But blow it up to 1920 x 1080 HD though...

And now put that on a 50" or larger screen...

...and you'll be grabbing for your blu-rays. It's akin to watching 8mm vs. 65mm film.

This is why Disney needs to release the original theatrical versions in HD.

Until then I'm quite content with the Despecialized versions.

I watch my LE DVDs on a 40" 4K, and adjust the screen dimensions so that they're no longer windowboxed on all sides. They don't look great but they're still perfectly watchable. I don't hate the BDs as much as most people seem to but I prefer the unaltered version more than my need for better A/V.

excellent "they'd better be made with blue milk, biatch!"

Something that always tickles me is that (IIRC) they actually forgot to shoot the insert of Obi-Wan actually picking up the lightsaber during principal photography on Sith, which shows how much this continuity stuff really means to Lucas.

So really it's ROTJ's fault.

Same. I love the really pissed off line reading from James Earl Jones. For me, that's one of the cruelest cuts in the special editions.

Fired up the semi specialized edition I have on my computer. Seems the original tune is there. So at least that was restored.

Also, this youtube video shows that some changes are actually good:

And now it's an even more generic and disinterested performance, I think the story goes that Tem Morrison quite literally phoned it in. Pffft.

As for the Emperor change: great in terms of matching continuity, poor in terms of performance. Funny that, I sense a theme developing here.

Agreed... I prefer the line delivery in the '80 version.
